BAP - No Mercy

Sports, in high school, were just like simple games the students play. But when we reach college, it's a serious matter.

It was break time. Lulu and I decided to go to the university soccer field and sit on the bleachers while we watched the soccer varsity players play.

"Why didn't you sign up for the team?" I asked him.

His eyes were still intent on the players, but he answered me anyway. "I thought you didn't want me to."

I raised an eyebrow and faced him. "Why wouldn't I want you to?"

He leaned back and laughed. "I was just kidding. I know you'd let me. I just wasn't able to catch up. Slots were full."

We went back to watching the players kick the ball from here to there. Ever since we were kids, Luhan had always had a passion for sports. His utmost favorite is soccer. So I know how disappointed he is for not being able to join. He's just good at not showing it. Like always.

When one player scored goal, Lulu stood up and cheered. "Wooh! Amazing shot!!"

Fanboying much?

I tugged his shirt to make him sit down. I don't like the glares he's getting from the other students who decided to watch the players practice, only they do it quietly.

Lulu chuckled to himself. "These guys are amazing! They know how to play well. It would be nice to play with them. Just once."

I unwrapped a chocolate-coated candy and popped it in my mouth. "Hm. Someday, maybe."

He stayed quiet for a while. "Someday? Why not now?"

I choked on my candy. "What?!"

He stood up. Again. "I can ask them if I can join their practice. Just for now."

I tried to stop Luhan. "Lulu, wait! This isn't a good idea—" Too late. He was already going down the bleachers towards the other players.

I'm not so sure, but those soccer players seem so aggressive and mean. It's not Luhan's atmosphere. I think this is really a bad idea.

I watched him approach a player, and everyone stopped playing to gather around. "Hey, guys! Can I join you? Just for this practice?"

The player he approached looked him up and down. "You? Play with us?"

I cringed. How mean.

Another player spoke. "Are you a freshman?"

Despite the players' intimidation, Luhan beamed at them and nodded. "Yeah, I am. I've been playing soccer since I was a kid. And I just want to join..."

I stopped listening. I don't want to hear them shout or be angry at Lulu. I know that brat can take it. He's like that. But I don't think I can.

"Hey." Kris sat beside me out of nowhere. "Where's your boyfriend?"

Normally, his presence and questions would totally piss me off. But I was too busy worrying about Luhan that I don't care that Kris is here. I pointed at Luhan, who was already teaming up with other players. "There."

Kris followed the direction and when he saw Luhan, his eyebrows rose up. "What's he doing there?"

"Uh, a friendly soccer game?"

"Oh. Wow. Brave kid."

I faced Kris, with a bit of an anxious expression. "What do you mean?"

"From what I've heard, soccer is the most aggressive sport here in SeoulU. Most players are sent to the hospital because of injuries. Even in practice."

I glared at Kris. "Are you sure? Or are you just making up stories again?!"

He shook his head. "I'm telling the truth. Honest."
