I laid my head on my best friend's lap. She was caressing my hair while humming a song. I felt myself getting sleepy, my eyelids becoming heavy. A sigh escaped my lips as I was drifting to sleep. I heard a giggle coming from my friend, but I didn't care. She was probably doing something on my face. Drawing, writing, or simply scribbling on my cheeks... I was used to that anyway, so I just let her be. I yawned as I closed my eyes. It didn't take too long for me to fall asleep, but unfortunately, my sleep was cut short as I felt her tapping my shoulder. I groggily mumbled, telling her to let me sleep. She didn't listened to me and kept on tapping or poking my cheeks.

"Open your eyes! She's back!" I heard her say, and that snapped me back to reality. My eyes shot open, my head turning around as I searched my surroundings. I gasped in shock. She wasn't lying. She wasn't joking.

There she was talking with her friends, laughing as she laid her head on the man's shoulder. That familiar old pain came back to me, piercing right through my heart. I kept staring at her, not believing my eyes. Like in slow-motion, her head turned, her eyes focusing on me. I felt the air hitch in my throat once she smiled at me, that same old smile, like if nothing happened before. Seconds later, she returned the gaze to the man beside her and gave him a peck on the cheek. And that's when I knew everything was going to start again. That same old story.
