Emily Kim opened the letter. Inside the envelope was a letter. It said,

“You don't know me and we've never met, but I've met your son. I had nothing to do with his disappearance, though. Don't worry he's fine and in good health, but he's just not the same Eli you knew as your son. He never wanted to be a lawyer; his dream was to become an actor. He wanted me to tell you he loves you and to give you this necklace. He told me to tell you to move on with your lives, but to continue to keep him in your hearts."

Inside the letter was the necklace with the cross pendant that they had given him when he turned 16. The inscription was the same as the day they gave it to him, “Ellison Kim; our angel".
