Wendy sees her.

Someone she was hoping not to see, not because she doesn't want to but because she's afraid.

"Come over here, why are you just standing there." Ji-Hoon almost screams. Wendy just wants to run.

But she's weak.

Her heart is beating like crazy, she can feel it. She sees her coming closer to them. Her breath hitches. She doesn't want to be here. She hates being here now.

She feels fingers intertwine with hers. She looks up at Rosé, who gives her the most kind and soft smile. She only looks at Rosé and thier hands, she can't bear to look at the person standing in front of them.

"Hi, I'm Park Chaeyoung, from Canada." Wendy can feel Rosé is looking at her after saying that, waiting for Wendy to introduce herself, but she can't. It seems like Rosé senses that.

"This is Wendy. I'm pleased to meet you."

Rosé reaches out with her hand for a handshake, while her other hand squeezing into Wendy's. She grateful to have her. She's also proud that she didn't stutter or showed any signs of low confidence.

Wendy is the one who's trembling now, Rosé is the one holding her. She knows if the younger lets go, she won't be able to stand.

"Kang Seulgi."

Wendy's still looking at the floor. She doesn't want to look up , even though she's tempted to, she can't do it. She won't. She decides she won't look up.

She can't let her mind get the best of her. She has to stay calm.

She has to stay calm.

She has to stay calm.

She can't. She can't stay calm, she has to look up. She looks up. Looks at the face she's not seen for 12 years. Thoughts start racing in her mind at the speed of light.

She still looks like the same stupid bear that she did earlier.

She has only become more beautiful over the years.

Wendy's gaze moves down to her hands. She sees a ring. She starts thinking again,

Did she get married? Does she have children?

The thought of little Seulgi(s) makes her heart warm. But then sad. She squeezes Rosé's hand tighter.

She then looks back at the lady standing right in front of her.

She looks at her eyes.

"Come on, please, won't my Ddeulgi do that much for me?" Wendy said acting cute.

"Eww! Can you stop calling me that? And stop acting cute, it's gross."

Wendy and Seulgi were standing at the entrance of thier school in the morning. They were juniors, and technically they should attend thier classes today, but Wendy had other plans in her mind.

"So that means you'll come with me?" Wendy asked tugging onto Seulgi's arms.

Seulgi just nodded.

They turn around and make thier way to a park. It's not like Wendy, the smartest student in thier grade, wanted to miss classes, she knew what was inside Seulgi's head and wanted to make her feel better, and distract her.

They played around, talking about random things. Eating food from the shops on the road. They also went to the arcade in the afternoon. Basically they had the time of thier lives, and the sun was finally about to set.

They were sitting on bare grass. None of them seemed to care. They were in the park that meant alot to both of them. They always went there together.

"You know?" Wendy said finally ending the silence that enveloped them for so long.

"What?"

"He's stupid to leave you like that. He must be dumb not to realise your worth, Seul." Wendy always knew what was going inside Seul's mind and right now she knew the other was sad and worried, even though she only laughed and smiled the whole time.

Seulgi said nothing, just looked at the setting sun.

"And about your grades they'll get better, I promise. We'll study more from now on." Wendy was only looking at the other, who still wasn't looking at her.

"And your sister, she'll be okay....she's with someone she loves. I know you'll miss her, but I'll drive you to her place after school everyday. We'll even bring ice creams and cand-"

Seulgi just hugged her. Wendy felt her shoulder get wet. She knew the other was crying and she let her. She needed to get it out. Wendy knew Seulgi had been through so much, she wanted her to be happy again.

"You know that guy, he's so lucky he got to date the most beautiful bear in the world." Wendy said in an attempt to make the other laugh. She succeeded, as always.

Seulgi pulled out of thier hug and started laughing and crying at the same time.

"Yahh! I-I'm.....not.....a b-bear." Seulgi said between sniffs.

Wendy laughed and looked at the sunset again.

"How do you do it?" Seulgi said, also looking at the sunset.

"Do what?"

"Always know what I'm feeling?"

"Your eyes tell."

She sees the eyes that didn't change one bit. She sees the face that was almost always smiling at her, but now, now it's not.

She looks at her eyes once again.

She tries to read what Seul's feeling, despite her blank expression.

Chapter 38: Wow, what sad news, I really had hope for this story. I mean, even if things didn't turn out the way I expected (Like Joohyun confronting Seungwan the first moment he saw her about the daughter she just took away and Joohyun misses so much or the revelation of Joy's supposed other relative where she only discovers that she didn't really have a father but a mother?) And of course, even though Joohyun knew that Seulgi was back in contact with Seungwan, she never confronted either of them about the whereabouts of her other daughter, which makes us wonder what kind of parents Joohyun and Seungwan are who don't bother to look for or finally reveal the truth to Joy and why does Seulgi continue to collude with both sides when she considers her niece so much?
Despite everything, what really saddens me is that despite everything, the flashbacks to their past were without a doubt the best part of the story, I really kept waiting for more of them. I don't know if you intend to go back to this story and rewrite it, but I would particularly love it if you could show us their past in full. I think exploring what you've already done here would be a way of reusing this story that had so much to show.

Anyway, thank you for everything so far, I hope you are well and come back soon, author-nim!

Chapter 38: Oh i see the problem now. The seulreners want more seulrene moments.

Though i've always thought this is wenrene fic with how often Wendy's pov appears. But i agree that the story's really dragging. And so many side character povs.

I always look up wenrene tags coz that's all i'm interested in and this story was really promising. But i suggest if you're writing a wenrene fic, just use wenrene tag and don't add seulrene and vice versa if you're writing a seulrene fic to avoid being accused of clickbaiting and confusion.

Thank you for your work author! Please keep on writing.

Chapter 37: Heavy seulrener here and yes the story is dragging. This story is similar to wenseulrene fic titled 'Unrequited' in terms of the structure where it's clearly a seulrene fic with wendy as the 'heartbreaker' but for some reason the pov heavily came from wendy perspective. I think other readers already mentioned it out: Seulrene is clearly still going strong in this fic but for some reason, they have less moments compares to Seulgi with Lisa. This wenrene/seulrene bait & switch is clearly not working because now people started to criticize Irene, Seulgi and Wendy characters (similar with that fic 'Unrequited') and it's not even because they don't understand the concept of flawed characters, it's just they're getting tired of the story and the characters. I just don't get why most wenseulrene fics authors always have the same concepts and settings when they wrote their dynamics and it made me wonder if they really see each individual irl like that, because let's be real here, yes these are fictional characters, but they are real person fictions (rpf) characters. Even in kdramas, triangle loves don't always have the same dynamics. It's like these fics' authors are actually on one camp, but they pretend to care about the third person (in this case wendy) so that people would think that these authors actually like both camps. Might as well make it a polymorph relationship.

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Well I'm still reading this though the story is undoubtedly dragging its heels before moving a fraction of an inch for whatever plot there is. I get that the characters are still stuck in some of their past, but it doesn't mean that the story should be too. Stuck at a snail pace, I mean. The Joohyun and Wendy arc has the two agonizing every now and then in addition to the Joy issue keeping this story going in circles. I'm interested enough to keep on reading this but something has got to happen soon and change the pace to get things moving. The Seulgi and Wendy talk finally happened, but any attempts of figuring out how to approach Wendy and Joohyun closure as well getting Joy known as the missing child is not even on the horizon. I've also not seen a solid Seulrene tidbit here that is solely about them and not a segway to enter another Wenrene flashback and Wenrene agenda. I get that this story is about past Wenrene and daughter Joy, but I think there has been more Lisa-centric chapters/POVs than a Seulgi one that is not related to past Wenrene. Seulrene doesn't even shine that much other than small stolen moments here and there.

Chapter 33: What I don't get about this whole thing is why are they talking around Irene instead of just telling her the truth? This will all blow up in all of their faces once Irene finds out that Joy is her kid and that Seulgi is keeping things from her. It's bordering stupidity at this point. Seulgi is well aware of how devastated Irene was when Wendy left with their kid and now that said kid is back, instead of telling her outright, she goes and hides it from her. I mean who does that? There's no justification as to why she's doing what she's doing at this point. And not just Seulgi even, the same goes for Wendy. She has every opportunity at this point to stop beating around the bush and get her daughter and Irene to meet. But she keeps delaying things.

I don't even get Irene's reaction when she first met Wendy again either. I'd have been angry on the spot and demand to see my child. Why is she so passive?

Still curious to see how this runs through but I'm also getting frustrated at how this is turning out.

Chapter 32: First thought comes to mind when the revelation happened like- what the hell was Irene thinking volunteering for that? Everything became SO messed up after that. I don't even know what to say
