Chapter 35
[DISCONTINUED] familyThe week passed with Joy pondering about her mother.
Her other mother.
It still sounded weird to her, just because she already had this perception of a dad. And it's too crazy how the she thought like that with Yeri too. And it turns out Joy has (or had) two mothers just like Yeri.
Just because it sounded weird didn't mean it didn't make her all warm inside. For one moment when she thought about her two mothers playing with her she couldn't help but smile. But the next moment, reality would hit and the smile would turn upside down, knowing she'd probably never meet her.
Her mother didn't even tell her any name which pissed her off at first but then she realised something must have been really bad that her mommy, who is almost always calm and logical, just panics.
The last thing that bothered her was that she was adopted. She'd never known her biological parents and she didn't feel attached at all but she felt even more loved because of her mother. If someone could care enough to take her in and raise her, she was loved.
She had her mother. That was enough.
For now.
"You gonna order, Joy?" Wendy says as she eyes her and then the menu right in front of her.
"Please make it fast. I'm starving and sleepy." Rosé finishes with a yawn. They're sitting in a nice aesthetic restaurant for breakfast after they had a long jog. It was Wendy's idea to show them some of the places she jogged in when she was young. But Rosé is obviously not a morning person. Joy wonders why she even agreed to come.
"When are you not!" Joy giggles and just points out to some dishes she liked on the menu. Wendy quickly called the waiter and ordered the things, while she received a glare or too from the cute chimpunk beside her.
"Soooo......what's up with school?" Her mother asks quietly and Joy knows she is still feeling awkward because she never asks this much about school. A week has passed since thier talk but her mother is still feeling weird about that.
"Just the usual." She says nonchalantly and Wendy nods slightly and picks up the glass of water in front of her.
Joy just wants to wipe out this awkwardness once and for all.
"Mommy, don't be like that. I told you it doesn't affect me. You're still my cute mommy." She pinches her mother's fluffy cheeks. And Wendy giggles.
Rosé on the other hand cackles as she joins to pinch her cheeks hard. Wendy smacks her hands away agressively.
"Hey! Stop that now." Wendy moves far away from Rosé.
"I'm so glad you've talked already." Rosé smiles once she stops pinching Wendy's cheeks.
"You knew about.....umm...you know.." Joy looks at Rosé who looks at Wendy then back at Joy.
"Yeah....just recently."
The atmosphere got a little somber, Joy tries to ask other things that she was curious about and just get it over with.
"Mommy...." Wendy looks at her and raises her eyebrows expectantly. "Tell me more....about.....my..umm other mother?"
She felt weird saying it and Wendy speaks almost immediately.
"You can call her mom."
Joy smiles as she warms up again. She has no idea who this person is, but she wants to know more about her.
She glances at Rosé who's staring at her mother with sad eyes. This makes Joy wonder what really happened and if Rosé knows her mom too.
Her mother clears and averts her gaze away from Rosé.
Yup, she definitely knows.
"So you wanna know more about your mom?" Joy nods to her mother's question and she suddenly smiles. She looks away like she's really trying to remember, like she's living those memories again.
"Well, she was so cute, but very scary to people meeting her for the first time." Rosé giggles a little at her mother's first sentence.
Ohhhh, has she met her too?
"She- she loved writing, she was amazing at it. I once read her story and started crying." Her mother chuckles. "She wanted to be an author. She took care of everyone around her, she was so.....motherly, she rarely showed anyone her real emotions. She is the most beautiful woman I've ever met." Wendy stops at that and just looks away from Joy.
Joy didn't miss the little present tense there.
Mom is still the most beautiful woman in the world to mommy.
She smiles as she imagines herself with them.
But she also didn't miss the whole lot of past tense. She knows her mom is still around here somewhere, so that only signifies that her mommy just doesn't know if all that is true anymore. And that saddens her.
Wendy's lips curled into a wistful smile as she looked at Joy again.
"She sounds.....amazing. Tell me how you met, how were you when you were my age?" Joy thinks for a moment as she realises it could cause her mother even more pain, so she adds. "If...if you can."
Wendy laughs nervously as she rubs her nape. "I can, but uhhh...I don't think I would want you to know that."
"Ooooo now I'm interested." Rosé smirks and leans towards Wendy.
"Hey! Come on, it's not like that. It's just- I was very different from now." Her mother says coyly. "But if you really wanna know, I'll just tell you the important things. We met when we were 14-"
"That's so young. You were so little then." Rosé scrunches her nose.
"Yeah....well, I saw her first when I was 14. We shared a class when I was a freshman and this teacher....ahhh what was her name?" Wendy thinks as sh
