Chapter 26
[DISCONTINUED] familyShe doesn't want to know.
She doesn't need to.
When Seulgi's eyes tell her how much she loves Joohyun, she doesn't need to know what happened or why it happened.
Seulgi loves Joohyun.
Joohyun loves Seulgi.
Thier actions just scream 'in love'.
Wendy isn't hurt. Why would she be? And even if she was she has no right to.
"What happened to you mommy?" Joy looks at Wendy with concern.
Wendy, Rosé and Joy found themselves in the Joy's room after the awfully awkward talk (well, for Wendy at least). Wendy brushes the question.
"By the way! How cool is this, you guys and Seulgi are already friends." Joy brings up Seulgi- and Wendy absolutely doesn't want to talk about it.
She doesn't pay any attention when Joy tells her how fun Seulgi is and how they danced and stuff. Too much is on her mind right now to pay attention to that.
There's this particular thing that's been bugging Wendy for so long now.
"I'm pretty sure you would like Joohyun as well."
There it goes.
Joohyun.
So Joy has met Joohyun and Joy really likes Joohyun as well what with the way she's beaming right now.
Joy is talking about her mom, but she doesn't even know. And Joohyun is talking to her Sooyoung, the daughter she hasn't seen from 12 years. A pang of guilt hits Wendy and she feels Rosé's gaze tear her in into two pieces.
"Uhh J-joy...umm you went to Yeri's house, right?" Wendy decides to ask the question straight up, she knows her answer might shock the hell out of her, but she might as well take it all in today. Joy nods. "How....how come Seulgi dropped you off?"
Rosé clears . "Guys I'll go now, it's late and I'm sleepy."
Wendy knows she isn't. If she was she would be found in the bed, drooling by now. But Wendy understand why Rosé is going, and her suspicions after confirmed when Rosé gives her a curt nod. It was as if Rosé was reminding her of the things she has kept from Joy. Her past, where she's from, her mom, she has hid everything very successfully, and the guilt is hitting her too hard now. Not just hiding about her other parent, but she's hiding a much bigger secret too.
Rosé hugs Joy. "I swear to god if you disappear like that again, I'd first do anything to find you and then kill you."
Joy chuckles. She doesn't show but she loves Rosé too much. Growing up with someone, kind of does that to you.
Rosé waves her hand and Wendy and leaves.
Wendy then looks at Joy expecting the answer to her question. Joy is confused at first but then it clicks and she makes a face as if Wendy is asking something too obvious.
"I didn't know you wouldn't understand." Joy shrugs. "Yeri IS Seulgi's daughter."
No, no that can't be...
Wendy doesn't want to hear anything else. But she wouldn't let this go unless she's hundred percent sure.
"Seulgi and.....?"
"Come on mommy, isn't it obvious, Seulgi and Joohyun!"
Wendy's vision blurs.
They stood in front of the orphanage, hand in hand.
Wendy's hand was trembling a little too much and Irene was the only support she had back then.
"Babe, I'll be with you on every step of the way, you know that right?" Irene squeezed her hand.
Wendy could never imagine doing this without Irene. People had told them they were hurrying and they weren't going to last and what not but she knows,
She'll never ever stop loving Irene.
Even though it was her decision to adopt that beautiful girl, Irene didn't disagree. Despite so many people, even thier own families suggesting them not to rush this, she didn't back out.
Irene didn't back out because she loved Wendy, she trusted Wendy.
And Wendy would never ever break her trust.
And about people, they didn't know anything. The little girl needed to be adopted at that exact time and Wendy was more than willing.
"Seungwan-ah, look at me." Irene cupped her cheeks in both of her hands and turned her head to face herself. "I don't care what they say, we will be the best parents in the world."
"You'll be the best mom in the world."
Wendy smiled, taking in all of her wife's beautiful features.
She moves her hand up to grab Irene's hand and brought it to her lips. She pecked it multiple times and then rested her head on the other's shoulder. She was practically putting all of her weight on her tiny wife by slumping in her place, but Irene only tightened her grip on Wendy, peppering the side of her head with kisses.
"I couldn't do this without you."
Wendy was sure her voice was muffled due to thier position but Irene heard as she felt her smile.
"And I'm never leaving you."
Irene ruffled her hair from behind as a soft chuckle is heard from her.
"I could never agree to do this if it wasn't you."
"I'm sure I would have never done it with anyone else."
Irene's words replay in her head.
She remembers laughing about the sentence saying she'll never have to.
That's what Wendy thought at that time.
Stupid Wendy.
Stupid Wendy, about to cry over Seulgi and Joohyun having a daughter together. Stupid Wendy who thought they'll raise their daughter together. Stupid Wendy who thought every thing would be happy.
Stupid Wendy who won't ever stop loving Irene.
"Joy....uhh...how is umm Ire- uhh the...the waiter you talked about."
Joy giggles. "Turns out she's not the waiter. She literally owns the restaurant. And you can say her name, it's not that hard. Look Joo-Hyun."
Owns a restaurant? What?
Wendy sat in class with Joohyun unnie. Even though the latter was older, Wendy still took this class because she thought she's already at that level.
And besides it was only one class. She could take that much load.
Oh and it was definitely because she could learn more and definitely not because of the beauty beside her.
They were waiting for their teacher to arrive, who was late as usual.
Wendy decided to start a conversation but surprisingly Joohyun unnie does it first.
"Wendy, tell me what do you wanna do when you grow up?" Joohyun unnie didn't look at her and stared right at the white board that was literally only white right that time.
"You mean as in career?"
Wendy thought Joohyun grimaced but Wendy might've been seeing things. Joohyun just nodded, still not looking at the other.
"Uhh, I'm not very sure? I don't know, besides I'm still a freshman, I don't need to think about that." Wendy shrugs.
She often found herself tapping her finger on the table or her foot on the floor in a certain beat.
It made her calm.
"What do you wanna do, unnie?"
Joohyun finally looked at Wendy. She grinned widely.
"I'm going to be a author."
"You're going to be amazing, I can already tell." Wendy wasn't just lying. Joohyun was definitely great with words. Joohyun giggled giving her an embarrassed smile, as she smacked her shoulder lightly.
She looked at Joohyun with dreamy eyes, propping her cheeks on her elbow. She always found herself doing that nowadays too, looking at Joohyun.
"Unnie when you become a famous author, I'd be your biggest fan." Wendy's eyes lit up as she exclaimed. "Yeah! I'll also attend th
