"Seulgi.....look...I-I can explain..."

For the first time in a while Wendy feels, almost scared, in front of Seulgi. She feels so small as Seulgi's strong and angry gaze tears her into pieces.

"What the will you explain Wendy, huh? I'm out partying and you're at my ing apartment-"

"It's...it's not like that."

Seulgi takes a step closer to Wendy, probably to assert thier height difference. "Oh don't go on saying that "I was just roaming around here", cause I know you weren't. Did you...did you see her? What did-"

Wendy shoves the paper bag containing medicines and other stuff in the other's hand. This is not the time for her to feel bad, she did the right thing, the wrong way, yes, but the right thing. And Seulgi is the one at fault for leaving her fiancée like that.

"Maybe if you cared about her, you won't leave her like that. She was burning up, Seulgi. And you're out partying."

Wendy knows she's overstepping her boundaries. And she's being awfully mean but she doesn't care one bit. Seulgi needs to hear this now. Joohyun wanted Seulgi to be there with her, she even said sorry.

"She's my girlfriend." Seulgi points at herself, her voice eerily calm. Her face holds a cold, impassive expression that it might trick someone to believe that this is not Seulgi at all. This is so unlike the normal Seulgi that Wendy knew. "And you don't get a right to say anything in my ing relationship. We're not friends, Wendy."

Wendy steps back.

Seulgi is right. She doesn't get to say anything. But she wants to, why? She shouldn't care for them.

But that's the thing, she does.

"Just..just give this to her...she- I umm brought some medicines, she-she needs it and uhh I- she likes uhh chocolate so I-"

Wendy stares at the ground unable to bring her gaze upto the other.

"Don't teach me how to take care of MY girlfriend."

"Seulgi...I'm just...." Wendy can't go on any further. She shouldn't meddle in anyone's personal lives, but has Seulgi completely forgotten what they meant to each other.

What Irene meant to her?

"Wendy, I'm warning you. Stay in your ing limits, okay?"

This is getting too much. Soon Wendy's going to run out of air and Seulgi will have to witness that. Wendy just wants to run out of there, inside her room. Between those four walls, she doesn't want to see people right now. She just wants to be with herself.

"That amazing woman up there...she's not your Irene anymore. She's Joohyun who is a new and a better person. And she loves Seulgi. That's me, you know that?"

Why is she being so possessive?

It's isn't like Wendy to do anything. She just can't get in between a couple. That's just unethical. And Seulgi should know that by now.

Seulgi scoffs. "And if you even gave a about her, you wouldn't leave her. You know what you are Wendy," Seulgi moves forward and lifts her face up, and she meets Seulgi's gaze again. "You're a ing coward who-"

That's it, she's had enough.

She pushes Seulgi back, a little too hard maybe, but Seulgi doesn't fall. She has a good balance.

"Stop it! Your fiancée is sick, she's crying alone at home and you're partying, you smell like alcohol, Seulgi. You're messed up."

There is a flash of confusion on Seulgi's face but it it goes away the next moment. Seulgi shuts into a thin line and Wendy continues, she can't hold back anymore. She has to say what she feels, everything she feels.

"This isn't about me. You...you should be a role model for...your daughter. That poor girl, she looked so tired, so exhausted." Wendy takes a breath and as she looks at Seulgi, she isn't sure but the woman looks somber now. Like something is hurting her too much. Seeing that made Wendy think she's going too far, it was just one night, it's not like Seulgi did this on regular basis. She wouldn't do that. But it's too late to stop now, she has to say all she wants to, right now.

"And why are you being so possessive, huh? You don't trust me, I get that. But trust her. Trust Joohyun."

Seulgi's head perks up at that. Wendy's sure Seulgi's sad now. She doesn't stop.

"And besides, I'm not going to do anything." Wendy has lost control, on everything. She will regret saying this later but she doesn't care in this moment.

Funny how Seulgi is the one who's drunk.

"I don't...I won't be a homewrecker...not that I have a chance to. I'm not you."

There it is.

"Excuse me?" Seulgi's voice is quiter now, weaker. And she looks at her with an incredulous look, like she's just been betrayed.

Wendy lets out a bitter chuckle. "Didn't you like her from the start? If anything, you must me happy that I went away. Did you do anything before, huh? Meet her secretly on our wedding d-"

"What the , Wendy. How could....how could you...even..." Seulgi's breath shakes and her voice breaks. "You just...t-told me to...trust..her...I..."

Wendy trusts Irene. She trusts Seulgi too, even today. What she just said, she doesn't believe it herself. But for some reason she wants to see Seulgi like this. Wendy feels like an awful, awful person. But what's said is already said.

"Whatever. I'm going to go and you're going to take care of her. And Yeri...I don't want her to suffer because of a mess I- we created. Same with Joy. I'm going to talk to Joy. Just..."

Why did she even tell that to Seulgi?

Seulgi still looks at her with that expression. Like she can't believe what is being said.

"Just be a good mother to Yeri. You probably are already...but...but just-" Wendy lets out an exasperated sigh, not knowing what to say anymore. She's just rambling at this point. "I don't know Seulgi, think about how she would feel if her mother came home, drunk and looking like a mess like that. You can enjoy and all but just...just be careful. Be an even better role model, for your daugh-"

"She's not mine!"

Seulgi raises her voice but breaks down into sobs the second after.

She's not yours? Then who....?

Seulgi covers her face with her hands, she looks broken. And Wendy feels like she shouldn't have said all that. When she had no idea of what was up. The thing that comes out of Seulgi's mouth shocks her even further.

"Taeyeon unnie....she's hers."

Seulgi falls on her knees, her weight too much for her legs to support now. Wendy rushes to her side. She kneels down as well. Seulgi, she cries her heart out. Trying to catch her breath at every moment.

And Wendy feels like a monster.

She wishes she could just hold Seulgi in her arms.

Taeyeon unnie is Seulgi's older sister and alot happened in the past, Wendy knows it all. Taeyeon left her house to do what she loves, singing and to be with the love of her life, who their parents obviously didn't approve of. They wanted someone better for Taeyeon. And Seulgi cried so much the day Taeyeon left, Wendy remebers patting her back as she cried. Seulgi felt as if she was losing her sister to someone else, like she won't be able to see her anymore. Seulgi loved her sister so much, them, along with her older brother had so much fun.

Wendy wishes she could meet her too, hopefully in this trip. She was an angel when she'd last met her and she'd definitely still be that.

"She's gone, Wendy. She left me....forever."

Wendy's breath hitches as Seulgi falls into her arms, too weak to even sit straight.

Wendy can feel her anxiety rising. She isn't the best with death.

It haunts her.

But she counts. From 1-10, to calm herself down even a bit. She has to be strong now. She has to be Seulgi's support.

After a few moment of deep breaths, she speaks again.

"Come on, let's sit somewhere else."

--

They sit inside the building's park and Wendy just had to go ahead and suggest them to sit on the swings.

The ones that they used to sit on.

Seulgi didn't expect the news to come up like that. And it's safe to say she regrets whatever left . Now that she was slowly coming to her senses, she realises what just happened. She was extremely shocked when she saw Wendy as Nayeon dropped her home. She could say it was the alcohol in her speaking, but she needed that. Maybe she

Chapter 38: Wow, what sad news, I really had hope for this story. I mean, even if things didn't turn out the way I expected (Like Joohyun confronting Seungwan the first moment he saw her about the daughter she just took away and Joohyun misses so much or the revelation of Joy's supposed other relative where she only discovers that she didn't really have a father but a mother?) And of course, even though Joohyun knew that Seulgi was back in contact with Seungwan, she never confronted either of them about the whereabouts of her other daughter, which makes us wonder what kind of parents Joohyun and Seungwan are who don't bother to look for or finally reveal the truth to Joy and why does Seulgi continue to collude with both sides when she considers her niece so much?
Despite everything, what really saddens me is that despite everything, the flashbacks to their past were without a doubt the best part of the story, I really kept waiting for more of them. I don't know if you intend to go back to this story and rewrite it, but I would particularly love it if you could show us their past in full. I think exploring what you've already done here would be a way of reusing this story that had so much to show.

Anyway, thank you for everything so far, I hope you are well and come back soon, author-nim!

Chapter 38: Oh i see the problem now. The seulreners want more seulrene moments.

Though i've always thought this is wenrene fic with how often Wendy's pov appears. But i agree that the story's really dragging. And so many side character povs.

I always look up wenrene tags coz that's all i'm interested in and this story was really promising. But i suggest if you're writing a wenrene fic, just use wenrene tag and don't add seulrene and vice versa if you're writing a seulrene fic to avoid being accused of clickbaiting and confusion.

Thank you for your work author! Please keep on writing.

Chapter 37: Heavy seulrener here and yes the story is dragging. This story is similar to wenseulrene fic titled 'Unrequited' in terms of the structure where it's clearly a seulrene fic with wendy as the 'heartbreaker' but for some reason the pov heavily came from wendy perspective. I think other readers already mentioned it out: Seulrene is clearly still going strong in this fic but for some reason, they have less moments compares to Seulgi with Lisa. This wenrene/seulrene bait & switch is clearly not working because now people started to criticize Irene, Seulgi and Wendy characters (similar with that fic 'Unrequited') and it's not even because they don't understand the concept of flawed characters, it's just they're getting tired of the story and the characters. I just don't get why most wenseulrene fics authors always have the same concepts and settings when they wrote their dynamics and it made me wonder if they really see each individual irl like that, because let's be real here, yes these are fictional characters, but they are real person fictions (rpf) characters. Even in kdramas, triangle loves don't always have the same dynamics. It's like these fics' authors are actually on one camp, but they pretend to care about the third person (in this case wendy) so that people would think that these authors actually like both camps. Might as well make it a polymorph relationship.

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Well I'm still reading this though the story is undoubtedly dragging its heels before moving a fraction of an inch for whatever plot there is. I get that the characters are still stuck in some of their past, but it doesn't mean that the story should be too. Stuck at a snail pace, I mean. The Joohyun and Wendy arc has the two agonizing every now and then in addition to the Joy issue keeping this story going in circles. I'm interested enough to keep on reading this but something has got to happen soon and change the pace to get things moving. The Seulgi and Wendy talk finally happened, but any attempts of figuring out how to approach Wendy and Joohyun closure as well getting Joy known as the missing child is not even on the horizon. I've also not seen a solid Seulrene tidbit here that is solely about them and not a segway to enter another Wenrene flashback and Wenrene agenda. I get that this story is about past Wenrene and daughter Joy, but I think there has been more Lisa-centric chapters/POVs than a Seulgi one that is not related to past Wenrene. Seulrene doesn't even shine that much other than small stolen moments here and there.

Chapter 33: What I don't get about this whole thing is why are they talking around Irene instead of just telling her the truth? This will all blow up in all of their faces once Irene finds out that Joy is her kid and that Seulgi is keeping things from her. It's bordering stupidity at this point. Seulgi is well aware of how devastated Irene was when Wendy left with their kid and now that said kid is back, instead of telling her outright, she goes and hides it from her. I mean who does that? There's no justification as to why she's doing what she's doing at this point. And not just Seulgi even, the same goes for Wendy. She has every opportunity at this point to stop beating around the bush and get her daughter and Irene to meet. But she keeps delaying things.

I don't even get Irene's reaction when she first met Wendy again either. I'd have been angry on the spot and demand to see my child. Why is she so passive?

Still curious to see how this runs through but I'm also getting frustrated at how this is turning out.

Chapter 32: First thought comes to mind when the revelation happened like- what the hell was Irene thinking volunteering for that? Everything became SO messed up after that. I don't even know what to say
