"Remember I told you mommy was going to come with us?" Joy pauses to look at Joohyun's face for an answer, but doesn't wait. "Well, she's not."

Joy purses her usually-no-mostly-in-a-smile lips into a thin line and she's really feeling awful. Her mother told her that she would meet Joohyun but obviously she has to work on a Sunday too.

"She must have some important work Joy, don't go so hard on her." Joohyun curls her fingers around the coffee mug and takes a sip of it.

"She always has that! It's Sunday man!" Joy bangs her head down on the table with her hands over her head. She was really hoping her mother could meet Joohyun.

"Hey, okay listen" Joohyun lifts her head up. "I promise I'll come to your place to meet your mother later on. And I'll scold her myself."

A smug smile appears on Joy's face.

"Ohhh nooo, I'm praying for mommy, you can be scary." She pretends to shiver as the other glares at her.

Joohyun finally finishes her coffee and gets up to keep the mug away. Luckily there weren't too many people there, considering it's a Sunday, but then again it's 6 in the morning. Joy is way too excited to suprise Yeri at thier house.

They had planned this all this prank thing and suprisingly the grandma suggested that they'd suprise Yeri by going to thier house and waking her up from her beauty sleep on a Sunday. And they might also act something out, not that that's necessary, Yeri would be enough suprised to see her mom with her friend.

She didn't realise but Joohyun was back at the table, staring at her.

"What?" Joy finds Joohyun staring at her alot, maybe it's just her habit.

"Nothing."

That's always her answer.

"Anyways, what time are we leaving for your house?" Joy has sparks in her eyes, she's clearly too excited to meet Yeri.

"I was thinking maybe half an hour later? Have some food first."

"Can we just walk to your house if it's close?"

--

Joohyun never said her house is close, Joy just dragged her and now they're walking to her house.

Which is 15 minutes away, by the way.

Joy is really a handful, but Joohyun has grown so fond of the girl. The reason- she doesn't even know it herself. It's probably just the girl's chirpy personality. Joohyun never grows close to people that easily.

It's almost like she's already spent some time with Joy before.

It's like they've known each other forever.

"Soooo, you are a chef...at that restaurant?"

Joy looks vibrant. She always does.

Joohyun hates how badly, in some part of her brain, it reminds her of someone.

Not that she would admit it.

"Miss, I own that restaurant."

Her statement clearly suprises the girl as she stops walking and looks at Joohyun with agape. If she opens it a little bit more, surely a fly would enter.

"Wow! I thought that grumpy man was the owner. You don't act like it's yours though. I always see you serving people and-"

"That grumpy man is my brother." Joohyun glares at Joy with her eyes shooting daggers at the girl.

Anyone would definitely burst out laughing if they see Joy's face right now. It's like life was out of her. She just stands like a stone.

"Oh no no, I didn't mean- oh my go-"

"Don't worry, he is grumpy." There goes Joohyun's loud as heck laugh. It's fun seeing Joy like this, so timid. Joy sighs in relief as she hits her shoulders playfully, muttering words under her breath.

"He thinks discipline is important and doesn't like people shouting at the otherwise peaceful environment, so he sometimes scolds me or gives me 'the eye'." Joohyun puts two of her fingers up forming quotation marks and rolls her eyes. She finds this absolutely useless.

It's a fricking family place, of course people are going to shout.

Joy forms an 'o' with as she continues walking.

They walk for sometime without words but suddenly Joohyun feels a tickling sensation and sees Joy leaning forward digging fingers in her tummy trying to make her laugh, and she does.

She laughs to the point where tears come out.

Joy finally stops and wears a smug smile on her face. "That's what you get for scaring me like that."

But Joohyun is competitive as hell.

"Oh really?"

She starts tickling Joy relentlessly, earning too many laughs and gibberish all at once. She loves seeing the girl laugh so heartily, as open as it can be.

"Ahh! Joohyun, stop."

Joy is trying to remove Joohyun's hands from her tummy but she can't even register the stuff happening around her. Only thing she can hear is her laughter along with Joohyun's.

"Stop! Hahaha...stop Jooh- shsgdghd!"

It is all happy laughter,

"No, no! Stop, Baechu!"

Until this point.

Joohyun stops, she knows she doesn't have to overthink.

Her tongue slipped.

She didn't know she even said it.

It's a coincidence.

Don't think about it.

Of course, that ty brain of hers doesn't support her. Tears pool on the sides of her eyes.

Doesn't matter who it's from that endearment is special to her.

And always will be.

Seungwan roamed to and fro around the small apartment they had.

Joohyun couldn't help but smile, seeing her wife so worried on something so small. If someone were to have no context of the situation and then see her like this, they would surely think that she's thinking about the biggest problem of her life.

Seungwan stopped in front of the crib for the nth time this day. And she did that everyday now.

Chapter 38: Wow, what sad news, I really had hope for this story. I mean, even if things didn't turn out the way I expected (Like Joohyun confronting Seungwan the first moment he saw her about the daughter she just took away and Joohyun misses so much or the revelation of Joy's supposed other relative where she only discovers that she didn't really have a father but a mother?) And of course, even though Joohyun knew that Seulgi was back in contact with Seungwan, she never confronted either of them about the whereabouts of her other daughter, which makes us wonder what kind of parents Joohyun and Seungwan are who don't bother to look for or finally reveal the truth to Joy and why does Seulgi continue to collude with both sides when she considers her niece so much?
Despite everything, what really saddens me is that despite everything, the flashbacks to their past were without a doubt the best part of the story, I really kept waiting for more of them. I don't know if you intend to go back to this story and rewrite it, but I would particularly love it if you could show us their past in full. I think exploring what you've already done here would be a way of reusing this story that had so much to show.

Anyway, thank you for everything so far, I hope you are well and come back soon, author-nim!

Chapter 38: Oh i see the problem now. The seulreners want more seulrene moments.

Though i've always thought this is wenrene fic with how often Wendy's pov appears. But i agree that the story's really dragging. And so many side character povs.

I always look up wenrene tags coz that's all i'm interested in and this story was really promising. But i suggest if you're writing a wenrene fic, just use wenrene tag and don't add seulrene and vice versa if you're writing a seulrene fic to avoid being accused of clickbaiting and confusion.

Thank you for your work author! Please keep on writing.

Chapter 37: Heavy seulrener here and yes the story is dragging. This story is similar to wenseulrene fic titled 'Unrequited' in terms of the structure where it's clearly a seulrene fic with wendy as the 'heartbreaker' but for some reason the pov heavily came from wendy perspective. I think other readers already mentioned it out: Seulrene is clearly still going strong in this fic but for some reason, they have less moments compares to Seulgi with Lisa. This wenrene/seulrene bait & switch is clearly not working because now people started to criticize Irene, Seulgi and Wendy characters (similar with that fic 'Unrequited') and it's not even because they don't understand the concept of flawed characters, it's just they're getting tired of the story and the characters. I just don't get why most wenseulrene fics authors always have the same concepts and settings when they wrote their dynamics and it made me wonder if they really see each individual irl like that, because let's be real here, yes these are fictional characters, but they are real person fictions (rpf) characters. Even in kdramas, triangle loves don't always have the same dynamics. It's like these fics' authors are actually on one camp, but they pretend to care about the third person (in this case wendy) so that people would think that these authors actually like both camps. Might as well make it a polymorph relationship.

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Well I'm still reading this though the story is undoubtedly dragging its heels before moving a fraction of an inch for whatever plot there is. I get that the characters are still stuck in some of their past, but it doesn't mean that the story should be too. Stuck at a snail pace, I mean. The Joohyun and Wendy arc has the two agonizing every now and then in addition to the Joy issue keeping this story going in circles. I'm interested enough to keep on reading this but something has got to happen soon and change the pace to get things moving. The Seulgi and Wendy talk finally happened, but any attempts of figuring out how to approach Wendy and Joohyun closure as well getting Joy known as the missing child is not even on the horizon. I've also not seen a solid Seulrene tidbit here that is solely about them and not a segway to enter another Wenrene flashback and Wenrene agenda. I get that this story is about past Wenrene and daughter Joy, but I think there has been more Lisa-centric chapters/POVs than a Seulgi one that is not related to past Wenrene. Seulrene doesn't even shine that much other than small stolen moments here and there.

Chapter 33: What I don't get about this whole thing is why are they talking around Irene instead of just telling her the truth? This will all blow up in all of their faces once Irene finds out that Joy is her kid and that Seulgi is keeping things from her. It's bordering stupidity at this point. Seulgi is well aware of how devastated Irene was when Wendy left with their kid and now that said kid is back, instead of telling her outright, she goes and hides it from her. I mean who does that? There's no justification as to why she's doing what she's doing at this point. And not just Seulgi even, the same goes for Wendy. She has every opportunity at this point to stop beating around the bush and get her daughter and Irene to meet. But she keeps delaying things.

I don't even get Irene's reaction when she first met Wendy again either. I'd have been angry on the spot and demand to see my child. Why is she so passive?

Still curious to see how this runs through but I'm also getting frustrated at how this is turning out.

Chapter 32: First thought comes to mind when the revelation happened like- what the hell was Irene thinking volunteering for that? Everything became SO messed up after that. I don't even know what to say
