Joohyun ransacked the whole camp searching for the culprit that dared wield a blade against her people. After flipping the barracks upside down for two days, three suspects were caught.

Heechul refused to carry out any of his barbaric methods of torture on a comrade if they mistook any as the culprit. Taeyeon and Joohyun’s interrogation wasn’t as effective due to Joohyun’s rashness. She couldn’t maintain the upper hand when thoughts of an injured Seulgi and Seungwan filled her mind.

When Seulgi volunteered to interrogate, Joohyun allowed it under the condition that Seulgi get her wound checked out by a physician. The Chief Investigator had assured everyone that her wound was only surfaced level and bandaged it herself. But Joohyun still wanted to be assured.

“Hyun, do you thi–who are you?” Seulgi scanned the area to confirm it was Joohyun’s tent that she had entered.

The small figure flashed a smirk that Seulgi was certain she’d just witnessed the smile of a devil. Then Seulgi was dragged by the small but surprisingly strong girl towards Joohyun’s bed. “If you’d stop avoiding the infirmary, we’d have met sooner.”

“H–hey wait a minute.” Seulgi tried to grab the wooden chest that was snatched out of her hands.

“Aiya, let me redress your bandages and I’ll let you go.”

Seulgi scanned the girl. She was dressed in light purple robes with her hair in braids. Although she didn’t look like it, the familiar use of medicinal ointment and professional wrappings gave away that she was a physician. “Yeri…?”

“So you’ve heard of me.” Yeri carefully inspected the gash, as Joohyun requested.

“Seungwan’s mentioned you here and there.”

“Good things I hope.”

“Wouldn’t you have any ideas?”

Yeri chuckled. Then she began to pack away her medicine kit. “If it’s Seungwan, I have hope. If it’s Joohyunnie…you should be glad our first meeting turned out to be like this.”

Seulgi gave her a confused smile. She grabbed her bandaged wrist with her free hand then gave it a little whirl. She thanked Yeri and moved over to where her wooden box was. 

In the chest were five small white porcelain jars. Each one was filled with different poisons. When she was cleaning up the mess of the Song family, it miraculously fell into her hands. After the Prime Minister’s death, Prince Seungri’s men were all sentenced to life in the Imperial Prison. As an Imperial Deputy Commander, she had easy access in and out of the underground prison. After their investigation had come to an end, Seulgi didn’t waste any time to execute them as well.

She applauded them for having survived this far. If any of them had any thoughts of bringing harm to Joohyun before, they wouldn’t have had the honor of experiencing the Imperial Prison firsthand. They would’ve met their doom, just like Suho had.

When Seulgi approached Mino’s cell with her blade painted with the blood of the south vanguard generals, his knees buckled. He begged her to spare him by negotiating his inheritance. After he revealed where it was hidden, Seulgi gave him a quick death. The five poisons were part of the inheritance. It was the only thing she kept before splitting the rest with the imperial ghosts and the courtesan spies.

She had brought the poisons out to d
