Chapter 22: The night I can't be with you.

 

5 years later:

 

If I had know that was our last date, I would have enjoyed the rain more, played in the rain with him a bit more...and stuff.

Hanbin was such a stupid boyfriend. Who gives such a perfect last date? 

 

“HANEUL! Where’s my sweater I wore yesterday?!” her husband shouted

“Ask KOO JUNHOE!” Haneul shouted as she walked to her room

“Jagi, please find it for me...I need to wear that one” her husband pouted as Haneul sighed

Late October, 2017 : 9pm

Hanbin sat down next to his girlfriend as she smiled at her boyfriend working hard

“Must be tiring” she said as Hanbin handed her a coffee

“Are you still upset that I couldn’t make it last time?” Hanbin asked sulking as Haneul shook her head

“I know how busy you guys are, don’t worry” she smiled taking a sip of her coffee

“Can I ask you something?” she said after a long pause

“Sure....anything” Hanbin said as Haneul sighed

“Do you still feel the same towards me?” she asked as Hanbin looked at her

“I’m sorry I couldn’t make it last time oh? You don’t need to question whether I love you or not simply because of that ...aye” Hanbin said looking at her

“About Hayi...” Haneul said as Hanbin looked at her

“You know she likes you” she said as Hanbin nodded

“I’ve known her since my trainee days Haneul-ah, I can’t just cut her off like that so suddenly...let’s give it time okay?” Hanbin said warmly as Haneul sighed

“I feel bad for her” Hanbin said as Haneul sighed

“And you don’t feel bad for your girlfriend who is watching you guys together more than you are ever with me?” Haneul asked as Hanbin stood up

“You know it’s not like that” he said sitting in front of Haneul, facing her

“I really...don’t want such insecurities in a relationship oppa...why are things looking like this when it was all okay before?” Haneul sighed as Hanbin grabbed her hand

“Maybe because we are not in each other’s heart anymore?” he asked as Haneul looked at him as he smiled a bit

“Feelings don’t change just like that, you know” he said as Haneul turned away.

“I don’t just love you Haneul-ah...you think this is the only time Hayi’s been acting like this with me?” Hanbin asked cupping her cheeks

“She’s been like this forever, just give it some time and you’ll know how it goes em?” Hanbin asked as Haneul looked at him

“I love you not because you are the great Yang Hyun Suk’s daughter or maybe because you’re just some pretty girl who caught my attention since day1. I love you because you’re Yang Haneul, my every definition of perfect...and—”

Hanbin felt Haneul’s arms over his neck as she hugged him tightly

“Mianhae” she muttered as Hanbin hugged her back smiling.

 

 

LATER:

“You think going to the dorm is good idea?” Haneul asked as Hanbin nodded grabbing her hand and dragged her inside.

 

Haneul chuckled at the rare sight of the boys as she looked at them dozing peacefully as some watched the television, some ate and some busy with their phones.

 

“Annyeong?” Haneul said as Jinan turned to her poking his nose as he froze

“Hi” she chuckled as Yun walked in an apron

“OH? HANEUL!” he shouted running towards her when

“Not so soon” Bobby smirked covering her front

“HANEUL IS HERE?!” Donghyuk shouted as Chanwoo sleepily fumbled on the sofa

“Ha-Haneul?” maknae Jung sleepily muttered

“Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea?” Haneul said gritting her teeth while maintain her smile as Hanbin chuckled

“Come, let’s have food first” Hanbin said pulling Haneul inside as Yun happily marched to the kitchen

“Just in time! I’ve been cooking kimchi stew” he said happily as Bobby joined them quietly

“Why are you so quiet?” Haneul asked looking at her brother and then at her boyfriend who turned away awkwardly

“They fought, remember?” Yun said making a face as he pointed at them with the ladle

“Heol, Double B fought?” Haneul chuckled as Bobby and Hanbin turned away awkwardly

“Please take care of the rice you two, Yun oppa, let’s make ramyun” Haneul said happily hopping away with the laughing elder, leaving the two rappers behind

“You do it” both of them said together.

 

“W-what’s going on?” Chanwoo muttered sleepily as Donghyuk shook his head sighing

“Just get some sleep” he said patting the maknae’s head.

 

 

Haneul looked at the guys all happy and playing with each other as she looked around –June.

Without making a noise, Haneul walked towards June’s room as she slightly opened the door, entering inside.

 

“Why did you sleep so early? Are you sick?” she asked sadly as she caressed his cheek, arranging his blanket well so that he didn’t get cold.

“Thank you for being strong” she smiled as she brushed away his bangs from covering his face.

 

I knew what I was doing was wrong. My heart and my head were in a war.

A great terrible war, very terrible, where either victory would be sad.

Life was not about choices...it was about destiny.

How much I missed him the more I saw him...Koo Junhoe

 

“Things have been hard lately June-ah...I’m such a terrible person aren’t I?” she asked lightly caressing his cheek.

 

Hanbin turned around as Dongyuk looked at him

“What are you looking at? Is June still sleeping?” Donghyuk asked as Hanbin nodded

“I’ll wake him up later” Hanbin said walking away as Donghyuk nodded, confused

“Cooking is done” Donghyuk muttered.
