At this point, I didn’t know what to do...

I thought I had forgotten June but in the back of my mind I knew I hadn’t...

I knew I loved Hanbin but something inside me disagreed to that...

everything was a chaos...

a turbulent ocean of emotions was my heart...

 

 

 

Chapter 17: The guy with the umbrella 

 

“What are you doing here?” June’s voice came from the back as Haneul turned to him

“Oh...Hi June...” she smiled as June examined her

“Are you waiting for someone?” he asked as Haneul nodded

“Hanbin” she said as June thought for a while

“Hold on, was he supposed to meet you today?” June asked as Haneul nodded

“Why?” she asked as June shook his head

“You might want to try calling him” June said as Haneul paused

“Why?” she asked as June sighed

“You really talk too much don’t you?” he chuckled as he dragged Haneul to the bench as she followed blankly

“Try calling him, I’ll get us coffee” June said as he ran off to the opposite direction before Haneul could answer him

 

*Might as well try calling Hanbin...he can’t just ditch me three times in a row*

*Ring 1*

*Ring 2*

*Ring 3*

“Oh, Haneul” Hanbin’s voice said on the other line as Haneul’s lips formed a smile

“Hey...where are you?” Haneul asked

“I’m at work why?” he said as Haneul sighed

“Nothing...we were supposed to meet up remember?” Haneul said as Hanbin paused

“Wait...we were?” he asked as Haneul sighed

“Nevermind...bye” Haneul said hanging up as she put her phone down, never getting a call back from Hanbin.

 

It was weird that Hanbin was acting this way...he was never like this.

He’d be that reliable boyfriend I’d trust so much that I didn’t even mind if he went to parties with girls because I knew he would never cheat on me...

But then he suddenly got weird ...why would he never call me these days? Why would he always be busy these days?

 

“Here” June’s voice rang calling her back to reality
“Oh...thanks” Haneul smiled as June looked sat her

“Hanbin’s been busy, don’t misunderstand” June smiled as Haneul nodded
“He really must be” she sighed stretching her arms

“You want to walk around?” June asked as Haneul nodded smiling

“There’s a bookstore nearby” June said excitedly

“I guess some mood making will do” she sighed lightly as June looked at her

“Stop sighing already, you’ll get old soon” he said as Haneul made a face.

 

That’s what I liked about June...I’d admit I was mad at him before but I guess maybe I really loved him and maybe that’s why, as soon as I knew he didn’t do things intentionally back then, I forgave him...

I liked how comfortable I was with June...how we’d just spent hours doing nothing like we used to back then...them good old days.

 

“Why did you break up with Hayi?” Haneul asked as June looked at her

“How’d you know?” he asked as Haneul smiled

“She came to me one day...told me that you guys broke up” Haneul said looking down as she looked at the matching black converse she was twinning with June

“She loves another guy...I was just a guinea pig” June chuckled as Haneul nodded

“Hanbin?” she asked as June looked at her

“I know everything June-ah...I’ve been thinking really hard” Haneul said as June turned to her

“Like what?” he asked as Haneul smiled

“Just...if I should let him go like Hayi says...” Haneul sighed as June shook his head

“Listen, I may be your ex boyfriend who is still in love with you, but...” June said as Haneul turned to him awkwardly

“...think of what decision will make you both happy...you can’t let him go and make yourself feel miserable...” June smiled as Haneul looked at him

“Why don’t you hate me?” Haneul asked as June chuckled

“You’re still weird you know that?” he said laughing a bit as Haneul pouted

“Because you are adorable” he said pinching her cheeks as she made a face.

 

LATER:

Haneul and June walked out of the bookstore when the old man at the counter called for Haneul

“See, you’re even popular among the bookstore ajhusshis” June chuckled whispering to her as she poked him making a face

“Someone left this for you, told you not to get wet in the rain” the old man said handing Haneul an umbrella as she stared blinking

“Take it, what are you thinking about?” June said as Haneul turned to him

“This umbrella...its Hanbin’s” she muttered as she looked around

“Hanbin came here” Haneul said as June frowned

“Why’d he come here? He was busy writing songs just when I left” June muttered as Haneul bowed politely at the bookstore owner.

 

Few days later:

“Can we meet? I’m in the YG building...text me back” -Haneul

“Annyeong” June’s voice said from behind, resting his head on her shouder as Haneul turned around startled

“YAH!” she pouted as he hugged her

“Good morning” he said as Haneul grimaced

“You are not supposed to hug me just like that” Haneul said as June frowned

“...And why should I not?” he said as Haneul made a face

“Nevermind, where’s Hanbin?” Haneul asked as June turned around

“You only care about him, bye” he said making Haneul chuckle

“I hate you so much sometimes” she laughed when her phone beeped

 

“Sure...the terrace in five minutes, wait for me <3” -Hanbin

 

“Oh thank god” she muttered as she turned to June

“Yes I have been waiting” he said as Haneul smiled

“I’ll go meet him once, bye” she said waving at him as June chuckled nodding

“Bye” he smiled as he watched Haneul walk run towards the elevator

 

Hurts much when people don’t feel the same towards you...

 

Haneul hurried to the terrace as the tall figure greeted her

“Hey” she smiled as Hanbin turned to her, engulfing her in a huge hug

“How have you been?” he asked as Haneul smiled

“I’m good...I’m fine, you?” Haneul asked as the leader nodded

“I missed you” Haneul smiled as Hanbin looked at her

“We didn’t see each other for two weeks, come on” Haneul pouted as Hanbin smiled a bit

“Mianhae, I’ve been busy, there’s so much work” Hanbin said as Haneul nodded apologetically as she looked awkwardly around

 

*Should I ask or should I not?* she kept chanting when

 

“What?” Hanbin asked as she snapped back to reality

“Oh...nothing” she smiled waving her hands frantically

“You can always ask” Hanbin said as Haneul shook her head in panic

“It looks like it’ll rain even today, did you bring an umbrella?” Hanbin asked as Haneul shook her head

“No?” she mouthed as her boyfriend chuckled

“Come let’s get down’ Hanbin said turning around when

“Oppa!” Haneul called as he turned around as she clenched her fists

“I-I understand if your feelings changed” she said finally letting go of the lump on

“Mwo?” Hanbin asked, surprised as Haneul looked down

“I admit, you have been acting a bit weird lately and I don’t know why but I feel like we are getting distant from each other slowly...and I’d very much like it if you tell me the reason for that” Haneul said as Hanbin smiled ruffling her hair

“Who even put that idea in your head?” he asked with a hint of smile

“It isn’t funny, you know” Haneul muttered as Hanbin looked at he, frowning his brows

“What makes you feel like that?” he asked as Haneul sighed

“Well...there are lots of girls around in the company who are really pretty and sometimes when you’re busy away like this, it just feel strange” Haneul muttered as Hanbin took her hand and placed an umbrella

“Don’t get wet, I’ll try to see you later” he smiled before briefly pecking her cheeks as he walked away, leaving Haneul behind, stunned.

“H-Hanbin...” she muttered as the cool breeze hit her

“Why do you act so strange?”
