THE WIND SPIRIT

"Vent puissant, vent puissant. Voulez-vous ecouter mon coeur?" sang Sandara's Aunt Tae Hee as she stood on top of a small hill. Sandara stood beside her aunt and watched her dance to an unheard music as she continued singing. Aside from her aunt's song, Sandara could also hear the sound of the wind blowing around the small hill. The wind seemed to spread her aunt's song everywhere.

Sandara couldn't understand the meaning of the words in her aunt's song. But since her aunt had a good voice, she found the song pleasant to the ears.

She had always been close to her aunt. Sandara idolized almost everything about her. From the way she dressed herself, her singing prowess and her beliefs and mottos in life.

Aunt Tae Hee at age twenty‑five remained unmarried. She never even had any boyfriend. She was also very fond of Sandara. She often borrowed Sandara from her parents to take her to the mall or go on a picnic. Sandara knew she was Aunt Tae Hee's favorite niece because she was fun to be with unlike her younger brother, Jinwoo, who was a handful. He couldn't stay still and he would always be talking and asking about nonsense things. He also had a habit of destroying all of his toys because of his negligence and carelessness.

There was also the fact that Aunt Tae Hee also found Sandara very cute specially her grey eyes. Grey eyes in their family were very rare. In fact, the only one who had grey eyes in their family was her Great‑Great‑Great Grandfather Park Seo-joon. Sandara's parents believed she inherited those grey eyes from Park Seo-joon who was a full‑blooded Frenchman.

"Aunt Tae Hee, what is that song all about?" Sandara asked as they sat back on the picnic mat.

        "It's about a powerful wind."

        "A wind song?"

Her aunt nodded and then laughed. She took several sandwiches from the picnic basket and gave her one. She also brought out two bottles of fruit juice for them.

"Our family believes that when an unmarried woman from our family would sing this wind song, the wind will grant her wish," Aunt Tae Hee began to explain.

"Why?" asked Sandara.

"Because the wind spirit is our protector."

"Huh?" Sandara was puzzled.

"According to your Grandfather Jin-Mo's story, our ancestor, Grandfather Seo-joon, became friends with the wind spirit and the wind spirit promised to take care of him and all of his descendants. And sometimes, when the wind spirit is in a good mood, he would grant the wish of the woman who would sing this special song."

"Is that why you sang that song on this windy hill?"

"Yes. That's one of the advice Aunt Hye-Jung gave me."

        "Grandma Hye-Jung?" she clarified.

Aunt Tae Hee nodded before continuing.

"She told me that when she sang the wind song on this hill, her wish was granted. You see, Sandara, we must let the wind spirit hear our song first before he could grant us our wish." She touched the pendant of her necklace, the pendant was shaped like an outspread wings. "But she also reminded me that if I am going to sing the wing song, I should also be wearing this necklace with the platinum pendant."

"Platinum? I thought the pendant was made of silver."

"It's platinum, Sandara. And this was made by out Great‑Great‑Great Grandfather Park Seo-joon. He gave this necklace to his daughter, Yoona. And Yoona in turn gave this necklace to Tiffany, the daughter of her brother Leeteuk and so forth and so on until Aunt Hye-Jung, who is the fraternal twin of your Grandfather Jin-Mo who is the father of your dad and me, inherited it. Aunt Hye-Jung in turn gave me the necklace. According to tradition, o

Chapter 26: I'm still curious how did the wind spirit break from the pendant? Because Dara sung the song with wrong lyrics or because her faith weavered?
Though I agree with Mino and Jinwoo, the wind spirit really is the matchmaker :)
