Releasing

Time Flies

Tzuyu had trusted Sana with a lot and she was constantly grateful for that because it was difficult opening up to someone about your personal problems. It was something Sana understood well. There is always a fear of rejection and humiliation that exists when you plan on trusting someone. How would they react to what they are told? Would they judge you negatively?

“Bed?” Sana asked as Tzuyu yawned beside her. The two of them remained in silence for god knows how long after Sana’s words about love. Tzuyu’s mood seemed to have shifted back to normal and Sana couldn’t help but think that things weren’t going to be as bad as she thought initially.

Tzuyu nodded, allowing Sana to pull her along to her room and guide her inside, pulling off the bed covers as she slipped inside the bed. If she were to be honest, Tzuyu felt absolutely exhausted. Maybe it was the talk or the travelling – or maybe it was the overthinking in her head but it was the first time she felt so relieved in her life after all her problems had piled up. She mumbled a thanks to Sana, who smiled, squeezing Tzuyu’s hand before she headed out of the room to head to her own.

“If you need anything, I’ll be in my room.” Sana informed, switching the light off. She wanted to stay by Tzuyu’s side in case her nightmares started up again or she felt scared but she didn’t know if that would be overreacting in her situation.

She didn’t know why, but as quickly as Tzuyu had slept, her dreams had drifted off to her parents and the girl who haunted her nightmares. Though, there was nothing but happiness prevalent in the dreams – a dinner of some sorts and Tzuyu couldn’t point out on whether it had happened or if it was a mere fragment of her imagination.

It was an automatic reaction to it and Tzuyu had found herself in Sana’s room. The thing was, she didn’t want to wake her up even though Tzuyu was already sniffling quite loudly. Her mind was recalling her memories she wanted to keep hidden and it was tormenting her to no end. Tzuyu thought that shutting her eyes would help drown it all out but it wasn’t working. She thought it was a mistake coming into Sana’s room so she wiped away her tears, heading out.

However, Sana had shuffled around and woken up, rubbing her eyes and trying to see through the darkness of her room.

“Tzuyu?” Sana mumbled, leaning over to turn on her bedside reading light. Her eyes widened as she saw Tzuyu’s state.

Tzuyu wanted to run away as Sana attempted to piece together what was going on. But she knew that Sana wouldn’t let it go now that she’d seen her. She would follow her into the other room and there would no longer be a point in escaping. Tzuyu refused to make eye contact with Sana, fiddling with her fingers as she cried silently. She heard some more shuffling and soon enough, Sana was in front of her.

“Tzuyu, look at me please.” Sana cooed, attempting to comfort Tzuyu. The latter shook her head, but a squeeze of her right hand and she hesitantly looked up.

Sana had only looked up at Tzuyu for a mere second – but that’s all she needed before she brought her into a much needed hug. Tzuyu remained motionless for a moment but her shaking shoulders were enough to indicate that she was crying. Slowly, she wrapped her arms around Sana’s waist, allowing herself to sink into the embrace. Sana sighed, running her fingers through Tzuyu’s hair and Tzuyu snuggled deeper along Sana’s neck.

There was so much that Tzuyu desired but what she wanted most was her family. This was the first time in the past week that she’d dreamed of her parents but it was also the first time she’d seen a happy memory of the girl as well.

The two stood for a while and Tzuyu’s shaking was slowly ceasing. She had never cried this hard ever since she’d lost her parents. Tzuyu had kept it locked up and refused to let anyone in to help her release her pent up emotions. Her cries had finally turned into sniffles and Sana took this chance to walk her to the bed and seating her down. She wiped away the remnants of the tears, feeling proud of Tzuyu for allowing herself to let it all out.

“You must’ve been holding it all in for a while.” Sana mumbled.

“I know. I don’t really like crying.” Tzuyu chuckled wearily.

“The dreams?” Sana questioned, earning a nod from Tzuyu.

“You’re not as inquisitive as before.” Tzuyu muttered.

“I don’t want to push you to say something when you’re not ready. I’ve told you about myself but that doesn’t mean I expect you to do the same immediately. I know it’s hard to find someone you can trust – especially when it feels like there is no one you can really share your true feelings with. But, there are always people around you who are willing to listen, even if they aren’t the best at giving out advice.” Sana informed.

Tzuyu listened to Sana’s words, wondering if she should talk about the girl who had been plaguing her dreams and turning them into hated nightmares. She sighed heavily, sneaking a glance at Sana to see her looking back at Tzuyu with worried eyes. Tzuyu had already told her about her parents – talking about the girl wouldn’t really change anything now, would it?

“There was this girl I met in my senior year of high school.” Tzuyu started, fiddling with her fingers to divert her attention. “When we were in senior year – she, uh – she…” She attempted to continue, gulping heavily to stop her tears.

“Tzuyu, you don’t have to talk about it.” Sana shook her head, hugging Tzuyu as she could sense the tears starting up again.

Tzuyu shook her head, “No, I can talk about this. I think I should, at least.” She took another deep breath and attempted to start again.

“You remember how I told you about my parents, right?” Tzuyu asked, earning a nod from Sana. “Well, I also said that I was very secluded from everyone else – I never talked to anyone. That changed in my senior year where I met this girl. At that time, I was only ever surrounded by my friends so I was a very awkward person. She was bright and always enthusiastic – she never failed to be my side to try and be my friend. Of course, my friends teased me endlessly about it but I couldn’t really stop her. At one point, I really thought she was stalking me because she was in all of my classes. But, it just turned out that she chose the same subjects as me. I don’t know how it happened, but I guess I let her in? I wasn’t so annoyed with her presence any longer and I responded to her questions. She was extremely ecstatic when that happened.”

Tzuyu paused to take a breath, looking at Sana and trying to decode her expression but it was difficult. She was hiding her feelings well and Tzuyu wondered whether continuing was the right thing to do in the current situation. Sana couldn’t possibly be upset, right?

“Continue.” Sana urged.

“My friends had noticed the change and often left me alone but I managed to get Chaeyoung and Mina to stick around – who were already dating at that time. Jeongyeon and Momo often escaped to after school arcades or some sort of teenage parties. Through spending more time with each other, we got closer and I let her in, telling her all about my past. She was sincere with her reactions and for once, I was glad that I didn’t chase anyone anyway. I had a new found appreciation for her existence in my life. I could also sense that she and Mina were getting quite close and we all thought it was a great thing. There were very few people who could befriend Mina.” Tzuyu chuckled, shaking her head. Sana couldn’t help but agree. It was difficult befriending Mina.

“I didn’t pick it up then but that’s when she changed. She was more withdrawn from me and she made excuses to leave me all the time. I thought that she was probably busy and had other things to do so I didn’t think much of it. But then, I noticed that she was still hanging out with Mina and that honestly hurt. So, one day, I – I decided to approach her.” Tzuyu continued, closing her eyes to drown out the flashing memories of the conversation.

“Don’t push yourself Tzuyu, alright?” Sana mumbled, patting Tzuyu’s head.

Tzuyu nodded, wiping away the tears that had started up all over again. She was almost done with the story and Sana’s words were quite comforting.

“That day was when I stopped having faith in people.” Tzuyu whispered tearily. “She said that the whole time, she was pretending to be my friend. She never wanted to be my friend but circumstances changed and she was thrown into talking to me. That wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was that I’d fallen in love with her.” Tzuyu sobbed, not able to notice Sana’s stiffening posture.

Sana had mixed feelings on their situation yet again. She wanted to bridge the so called gap but was this going to be something she considered a hole in the bridge? Would she be able to jump over it and not look back? Tzuyu could still have feelings for this girl even after everything she’d gone through.

“Afterwards – I later figured out that she had an ulterior motive hanging around us. I couldn’t believe that I’d given my trust to someone so manipulative and was convinced that I loved them. I was angry at myself for a very long time after that and refused to let anyone in.” Tzuyu added.

Well, that answered Sana’s thoughts for her. That hole in the bridge might just be a loose plank and she was sure that they were past that now. She was glad she hadn’t jumped to any conclusions just yet and let it pan out. Though, she might have started preparing for a possibility of heart break… just a little bit. She let out a little sigh of relief.

“Thank you Tzuyu.” Sana mumbled.

“For what? I didn’t even do anything.” Tzuyu frowned, shaking her head.

“Thank you for trusting me.” Sana explained, offering a small smile which was returned by Tzuyu.

“Thank you for listening to me and not running away.” Tzuyu replied.

“Do you mind if I asked you one last thing?” Sana asked, biting her lip in anxiousness

“Shoot.” Tzuyu nodded.

“Who was she?” Sana questioned.

“Her name was Kim Dahyun.” Tzuyu scoffed, feeling the anger rise up again.

Chapter 17: I don't know how disrespectful Sapphire are to Saida shipper. But I have see 'a lot' of annoying Saida shipper. There's many of them told me to stop shipping Satzu because SaTzu are dead whenever I leave a comment on some Fan account post that posted about Satzu. They even leave a comment on Satzu fmv saying they miss saida and want saida. Also attacking a Once just because he is stating Satzu is the main couple of Twice on one of his video that make him sad. That kind of make me a bit disliked saida interaction even tho I don't want to ㅠㅠ
