The Bachelor (Preview)
Dear future self,
How are you? It looks like you’ve lost a couple of pounds. Good for you? Is it because of stress or have you been exercising?
You look great whichever of the two reasons as to why you lost those dreaded baby fat of yours.
Anyway, I’m writing this letter for you so that I can give you a warning regarding that Doctor. Choi. Siwon.
Yep. I know that you’ve got the hots for him. So, please, just do me a favor. DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM. OR ELSE.
Consider yourself warned,
Kyuhyun.
“It’s freaking cold today.” Cho Kyuhyun said as he slumped down his bendy chair, twenty five, a newspaper journalist for the Seoul Times one of the leading news organization in South Korea.
“Well what do you expect, it’s winter after all.” Lee Eunhyuk said as he typed endlessly on his computer.
“As much as I love snow, I hate feeling cold, you know?” Kyuhyun said as he opened his Perry Ellis messenger bag to take out his MAC notebook. He opened the lid of his computer and was welcomed by a wallpaper of Hello Kitty. He cringed. His sister probably changed it again, much to his dismay.
“Nice, it’s Hello Kitty this time, huh?” Im Yoona piped up as she glanced at the screen. Kyuhyun looked up and frowned at her. She is the loud, somewhat always on a happy pill entertainment reporter for their paper.
“It’s not funny.”
“Hello Kitty, nice…” Lee Donghae said. “Your sister is like the coolest girl ever. Introduce me to her will you?” He joked.
“You are such a playboy. Besides, my sister is five years younger than you, so the answer is no. Donghae.”
“CHO KYUHYUN! Get over here! Now!”
Everyone turned to look at Kyuhyun.
“Someone’s getting fired….” Donghae sang quietly. Kyuhyun shot him an evil glare.
“One more word and I’ll make sure to drag you down with me since it was your fault we lost the story.” He said.
“Hey, I’m just a photo journalist. You were the one who needs to write the story.” Donghae said as he sat down on his chair, spinning it in the process.
“KYUHYUN! Am I speaking to a ghost employee?!”
Kyuhyun swallowed the huge lump that had formed in his throat. Here goes my job…
He went over to the Editor-In-Chief’s office and knocked on the tempered glass door. “Y—you wanted to see me, Mr. Kim?” he asked, his voice was very nervous.
Kim Heechul looked up from his computer and smiled at Kyuhyun. When Kim Heechul smiles, it’s always not good. You’re one way ticket to unemployment just got real, Kyu. Good work…
“I can’t believe you showed up for work after that epic failure you’ve managed to get our paper into.”
“Mr. Kim, I can explain.” Kyuhyun said cautiously.
Kim Heechul shook his head. “You don’t have to.” He raised both his hands as if to make Kyuhyun stop in giving him lame excuses. He stood up and paced a bit inside the office making Kyuhyun feel a little dizzy. He put his pen on the bottom of his bottom lip and tapped on to it. He looked at the other man inside the office and smiled. “You look worried huh?” Heechul said.
Kyuhyun gulped. “A little…”
“Don’t worry, I won’t be firing you…yet…”
That took Kyuhyun’s attention. “Huh?”
“I’ll be assigning you on your toughest mission to date.” He said. Kyuhyun looked at him, knowing what it was already.
“Please…don’t…I’d rather be demoted to production assistant…” Kyuhyun pleaded. Heechul chuckled lightly.
“Nope. It’s either my way or the high way…” He said. “I want you to get an interview with South Korea’s dreamiest Doctor…Choi Siwon…”
“But that man…” Kyuhyun paused, thinking of an excuse not to do the job. “He’s impossible to get an interview with…a lot of reporters have tried but no such luck arose.”
“Well, I’ll bet you’ll be working extra hard because you need this job right?” Heechul looked at Kyuhyun up and down. “If you fail this…” Heechul made a slashing gesture on his neck. “You’re out. Okay?” Heehucl sat back down and started to type on his computer. Noticing that Kyuhyun still hasn’t left, he scoffed. “Aren’t you leaving? You have a lot of work to do, I presume.”
Kyuhyun took deep, yoga breaths before leaving the room and closing the door; as soon as he did, everyone was looking at him in anticipation.
Kyuhyun shook his head and just shrugged.
“Congratulations! Congratulations!” Donghae errupted from the back. This made Kyuhyun want to super kick him.
“Wow, so you’re the new Choi Siwon hunter huh?” Yoona winked at Kyuhyun. “Congrats, Hello Kitty, he’ll be worth it.”
“Shut up.” Kyuhyun grumbled as he went back to his cubicle and slumped on his seat. He wheeled the mouse over the mouse pad and decided to research about Choi Siwon. He was a typical heir for a big hospital…graduated at a prestigious school in America and even owns a non-profit organization. This man is too good to be true…Kyuhyun told himself.
Kyuhyun’s phone buzzed in his pocket and he took it out. It was a message from his boss.
By the way, you only have three months to do this, okay?
Three months? If he had three hundred years to live he wouldn’t even live that down by trying to get a much awaited interview from the Choi Siwon.
I am so screwed.
