Prologue

My name is Im Sohee and I’m a hybrid. I’m half human and half vampire. Although I am half human my vampire side takes over most of my genes. On the outside I look, act, behave like any other full vampire. I have all the vampire qualities that normal vampires have but because I’m half human I inherit human traits as well. That’s my biggest flaw and that in the vampire world equals weakness. Because I’m half human I still have humanity in me. I’m too soft or so they say. Another thing is that all vampires all have their own unique power. My father’s was earth, while I didn’t have one. Because I was a hybrid with a human, I wasn’t able to get one. Therefore, I’m an outcast in my world. My father was a full vampire, a noble to the royal vampire court. He was the King’s right hand man and most trusted ally. He was respected in all the vampire world but then he fell in love with my mom, a human. He was in the woods on one of his hunts when he stumbled upon her. He told me that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. He felt a connection no other vampire woman can give him, so he approached her. They fell in love and my mom stood by him even when she found out what he was. She loved him and accepted him. I wish I could say the same for the vampire court. They were disgusted that my dad fell in love with a human and gave her the death penalty. However, my dad begged them to spare her. They agreed, but not after stripping him of his rank and banishing them to the outskirts of vampire kingdom. They didn’t care though, because as long as they were together they were happy. They said that their most prize treasure was me. When my mom was pregnant with me they were more than thrilled, but because I was a vampire inside a human body my dad had to turn my mom to save her life. We were a happy family, until one night.

That night the hunters attacked. Our home was in the woods on the outskirts of the vampire kingdom, needless to say we were greatly under protected. They came in the middle of the night and killed my parents while they tried to protect me. Although they were strong they were greatly outnumbered. After killing my parents, they decided to kill me but I guess the leader of the hunters felt pity on me and spared my life, but not before giving me a warning that if I survive and he meet me again he will kill me himself. I was 5 at that time. I
