Min Young's POV

A week now, which also counts as seven days, Si Won and I are surprisingly still going strong. I would wake up every morning, turn to my left and give him a kiss on the cheek to wake him up for work. If he was still stubborn, I’d give him a smack on the bum and he’d say, “Hey!” but he soon laughed and turned around so he could wrap his arms around me and suffocate me with his kisses.

Due to his stubbornness and remaining urge to let off steam, I had to rush for running late. Si Won couldn’t care less about his work and just leisurely went towards the kitchen for breakfast while I took a shower and get ready for work.

As I jogged down the stairs, Si Won was seated on the couch, reading the day’s newspaper with just his boxers on. “Aren’t you going to go get ready for work?” I asked as I fixed the collar to my shirt and push my hair back from my face.

“Oh they can wait,” he said casually without tearing his eyes away from the paper. When he put it down, he looked over his shoulder and said, “Besides . . . it’s not like the whole company would crumble now, wouldn’t it.”

I knew he meant it as a joke but I couldn’t help but think how smug he sounded. “Yeah, you’re right,” I agreed with a weak smile and tied my hair up in a ponytail. I was about to pour myself a cup of coffee if only it wasn’t empty. “Si Won, where’s the coffee?” I asked him as I stared at the empty coffee maker.

“I thought you always keep it in the cupboard above the stove,” he said.

I rolled my eyes and said, “I know that but, didn’t you make coffee?”

He snorted and said more to himself instead of me, “Me? Make coffee? Please . . . I don’t even know how to make ramen. What more coffee?” He lifted the paper back and continued to read before adding, “Besides . . . I thought you were in charge of the coffee.”

I turned my head around from making the coffee and scoffed. “Well for once, maybe you should try making it instead of me!” I told him.

“Isn’t that what you’re here for?” he asked nonchalantly.

My shoulders slumped and I let out a sigh before massaging my temples and mumble to myself, “Gosh, I forgot how annoying he could be.” I turned around so my back was to the coffee maker and said, “What happens if I were to go to work real early and there’s no coffee? Are you going to call me home to make it for you?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” he said with a chuckle. He flipped over a page and casually said, “I could just by coffee from the café near my workplace.” Si Won then looked over his shoulder and added, “Plus, there’s no way that you’d go to work earlier than me.”

I stared at him with my jaw dropped in disbelief. I wanted to argue with him, if only the doorbell hadn’t rung. I let out a grumble and clenched my fists. I unclenched them as soon as I did and asked Si Won, “Could you get that?”

“You get it,” he said to me indirectly.

“Look, for crying out loud . . . I am making coffee so the least you could do is just check that out!” I said in exasperation.

“Alright, alright,” he said solemnly as he put the paper aside and stood up.

Once he was out of my line of sight, I pulled on my hair stifled a yell and jumped up and down at how frustrating it felt to talk to him. For once, it felt like we were back to where we had left off . . . not getting along.

I stopped jumping up and down and fixed my hair when I heard the door slam. By the time Si Won was leaning against the counter, I had poured myself a nice freshly made cup of coffee. “Who was it?” I asked, before taking a sip.

“The mail man,” he answered solemnly and flipped through the mail like it was the most boring thing to do. He stopped when he came across one mall and passed it over to me. “I recognize that writing,” Si Won stated and looked up to me so he could ask, “Your mother’s, right?”

“Yeah,” I confirmed as I scanned the letter.

It looked oddly fancy to be a normal letter so out of curiosity; I turned it over and tore it open. I was surprised to find a wedding card inside which was in gold, with ribbons, sequins and glitter as its embellishments.

“Wow,” was all Si Won commented as he reached for my mug of coffee. I slapped his hand and he pulled his hand away immediately. He pouted and rubbed the hand I had slapped. “Ouch . . . that hurt,” he said while looking at me sadly.

I just ignored him and said after reading the contents of the card, “It seems Cousin Hwan Hee has invited us to his garden wedding.”

“Cool, when is it?” Si Won asked, leaning closer so he could take a peek.

“This weekend,” I answered and looked up to him to see what expression he had on only to be surprised by a kiss. I didn’t complain and returned the favour.

The very next day, we woke up very early in the morning to get ready for our road trip. We used Si Won’s Porsche this time around. The journey didn’t take much of a long journey. We started our journey around eight in the morning and reached just in time for lunch. We went straight to the reception and decided to stay over at my parents’ place for the weekends.

Throughout the journey, I couldn’t help but think of the possibilities of what might happen. I mean, the last time I went over to my parents’ place I was with Yunho and now I was back with Si Won. I could already imagine the questions firing away at me. What do you mean you guys are back together? You forgave him just like that? What happens to Yunho then? Yunho . . . I never thought of him for the past week – well, more like the exact opposite. True, I was happy with Si Won around but at time when I take a shower, the images of him fill my mind and I start to doubt my decision. Was it the right thing to do? Does Si Won deserve being forgiven? How did Yunho take it? Now that question, burned me to the core. Yunho never has told me anything deep till that night before Si Won came.

When I think of him, I would unconsciously play with the ring on my finger but stopped as I realize Yunho’s ring was no more with me. I would continuously doubt my judgement because of the arguments and differences Si Won and I have but of course, I became the good guy and decided to back down and just think of it as the usual lover’s quarrel. I couldn’t hide the fact I still love him but, the question, ‘Does he still love me?’ filled my mind.

Of course he does, right? If he didn’t he wouldn’t have come back now, wouldn’t he?

“Min Young?” I heard Si Won call me.

I looked up from my hands clutching purse and shot him a smile as I say, “Yes?”

He smiled back and said, “We’re here.”

I got out of the car and pulled up my shawl over my shoulders. I looked up to the archway standing before me and gulped. My parents were in there somewhere, with Geun Suk too probably and I would have to face them, tell them I’m back with Si Won.

Si Won curls his arm around me and together, we walked side-by-side, pass the archway and into the party. I could feel the knot in the pit of my stomach tighten as we looked for my parents. With each step that took us closer to my parents, my teeth chewing on my lower lip would clamp tighter and tighter. I thought my heart stopped when I saw my parents talking to the parents of the groom.

I prayed deep in my heart for them to not look our way but too bad, my wish didn’t come true. My mother noticed me first and smiled but when she noticed the man I had my arm around with, her smile slowly melted. She seemed shocked, stunned in fact, as if she was at a loss for words.

Si Won dragged me over to them and uncurled his arm around mine so he could wrap his arms around my mother. Happily, he greeted, “Mother! It’s so great to see you!”

She didn’t reply, instead she just gives me a questioning look in which made me grab for a glass of champagne a waiter held out in a tray. I chugged down the whole glass and took another just in case I needed it for later. Once they pulled away, my mom faked a big wide smile, as if she was happy as well to see him but I knew her all too well to know she was at all but too repulsed by him.

When it came to my father’s turn to be greeted by Si Won, he shot me his version of a questioning look which could pass for a glance by Si Won’s eye. I merely replied it with a ‘Don’t ask’ look. I was already expecting my father to spill the beans and tell him Si Won what he knew of what Si Won did to me.

Surprisingly, my father put on his dashing bright smile and took Si Won’s held out hand in a firm hold. He then said, “Si Won, it’s been so long.”

They went into a brotherly hug and as they pulled back, Si Won asked, “How’s work nowadays Mr Sung Woo? I’m sure everything is as splendid as it always has been.”

“Yes, splendid indeed,” my father agreed and continued to talk to Si Won regarding life and work.

When my father sneakily shot me another glance, I gave him a thankful look for being understanding and he just winked. I smiled at his cheekiness and joined them. After a while, I started to feel a little famished and excused myself to go indulge myself to some finger foods.

As I perused through the dishes set out on the table, a small saucer in hand with only two to three small types of finger food. I was still searching for at least one more interesting dish but was shocked out of my skin when someone said in my ear, “Boo.”

I nearly dropped my plate if his hand hadn’t already prepared to catch it, as expected of me. I gave my perpetrator a glare and growled, “Geun Suk.”

Geun Suk let out a hearty laugh before snatching up one of my grapes and tossed it into his mouth. As he chewed he greeted casually with a salute, “Howdy sis.”

I scanned his outfit for the day and was surprised I even recognized him because he was in a red suede blazer on top of a simple black shirt and red tie, black slacks, with two-toned black and red dress shoes. His hair was no longer a greasy slick black but a light hazel brown. He too no longer had make-up on which was nice to see for a change. What didn’t change though were his fingers that remained infested with rings and bracelets.

“Let me guess . . . new project?” I guessed as I eyed him with an eyebrow raised.

“You are absolutely right,” he said and tapped the tip of my nose with his forefinger before further explaining, “It’s a drama of course. It’s called Marry Me, Mary.”

I wanted to laugh at the drama title but just pursed my lips and supressed it. “Okay,” I said stiffly and continued to search for the perfect finger food.

Geun Suk continued to stand beside me, watching me in silence.  Had a feeling he had something to ask me but was too coward to ask him out front because of what the question might be so I just decided to let him ask in his own time.

After what seemed to be aeons, “Care to explain how Si Won is here?”

I completely froze. True, I had imagined myself being in such a situation many times but the reality of it still made me tongue-tied. Slowly, I looked up to Geun Suk, who was looking intently at me, just waiting patiently for an answer to come out of my mouth. I tried to explain but all that came out . . . was nothing.

I looked down to my plate and just placed it on the table. I had lost my appetite and turned my back to it so I could lean my back against the table the same way Geun Suk had. He had looked up from me and twirled the champagne in his glass.

“Si Won came back,” I finally said after trying to form the words and sentence in my mouth.

“Begging and on his knees, I’m guessing,” Geun Suk said as he took a sip of his drink.

“Not exactly,” I said and looked up to him as he placed his now empty glass beside my plate.

He looked down to me and said, “Why Min Young? After what he did to you . . . do you not remember the pain he caused you?” I stayed silent beside him and looked down to the grass. “Min Young,” he started and his lips before continuing, “You do know after a few years there’s bound to be something like this just happening again. It might not even take a few years, a few months is just enough.” He takes my shoulders into his hands and pulls me to face him to say, “I know you’re hoping that history won’t repeat itself but trust me when I say . . . it will.”

I looked up to him and said in denial despite his facts, “You don’t know that.”

“Want to make a bet?” he said in a serious manner. It almost frightened me at how serious Geun Suk is. He never takes things seriously but I guess what’s going on calls for it. He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. When he released, his shoulders relaxed and so did he. His anger now distinguished, he says gently, “Min Young, I don’t want to see you get hurt again. How broken you looked that day . . . it broke my heart. I just don’t want you to go through all of that pain again.”

“Don’t worry, Geun Suk,” I said bravely and fixed the flap of his blazer before continuing, “At least the second time wouldn’t hurt as bad as the first and next time . . . I’ll know what to do.”

“But if he does decide to hurt you again,” Geun Suk said again in a serious voice and threatened, “I will kill him, Min Young. That’s a promise.”

I smiled at the protective side Geun Suk was showing me and lightly slapped the side of his face because of how cute he seemed being all protective and stuff. He smiled to and lightly pushes my hand away.

Our moment was cut short though when Si Won said, “Yo Geun Suk, my man!” I turned to him who had a hand held high for a high five but Geun Suk merely turned his head in his direction and shot him a glare.

Geun Suk dropped his hands on my shoulders and turned to me to whisper, “I’ll see you back at the house.”

I merely nodded and watched as he walked away. Si Won still had his hand held up for a high five but Geun Suk continued to glare at him and bumped his shoulder with Si Won’s. Si Won staggered a few steps back and watched in disbelief as Geun Suk disappeared into the crowd.

Si Won turned to me and asked with his thumb pointed in the direction of where Geun Suk disappeared to and with an eyebrow raised, “Did I happen to have said something that might’ve offended him?”

I merely shrugged and picked my plate back up to eat what was on it. Just as I had finished my last grape, we were all called into the chapel for the ceremony. Si Won and I sat four rows from the front and watched in awe as my cousin, Hwan Hee, beaming with excitement, as he watched his wife walk down the aisle.

It brought back memories, as to where Hwan Hee stood, it used to be Si Won and the girl walking down the aisle was me. Tears formed as those happy memories flooded my mind and I suddenly laced my fingers through Si Won’s for reassurance. We were so in love at the time and to think five years later, after what we’ve been through, we’re still together.

Genuinely, I was happy – but why does my heart still feels . . . unsure?

Dear readers,

I know I said I would post up something with a little drama... But it seems, my drama has to be posted in the next chapter.
