Yunho's POV

That night, once Min Young had fell asleep in my arms, I carefully carried her upstairs where her room probably was and laid her onto the bed. I placed her head onto the pillow and tucked her nicely under the covers.

As I sat at the edge, watching he sleep soundly, I couldn’t help but let out a sigh in relief. Finally, a pretty scary day finally has come to an end – well, for her at least. I turned to her and I was glad she slept well. She seemed at peace. After crying so hard for those past hours, you are bound to be tired. I brushed her hair aside her face and caressed her face. It seemed almost instinctual when I did so, so when I realized what I was doing, I pulled my hand back.

I stood up from the bed and went downstairs. From the steps, I looked around the mess and wondered what I should do. The place seemed pretty beat up but maybe I could clean up and salvage a few things. I took my jacket off, hung it on the coat’s rack and got to work.

The TV was of course far from salvaging so I carried it out and placed it at the front of the house. I looked for a big trash bag and picked up the frames. I took out the pictures and threw the frames since they were no more usable. The kitchen counter I had to sweep off the dust and pieces of broken kitchenware before I place the pictures and the some good old stuff I found.

Once I had picked up every single big thing that was a piece of a sort of décor or furniture into the trash bag – including the flowers – I tied the bag in a knot and brought it out so it could join the TV. Then, I decided to vacuum the place. Each and every corner that had dust was and polished. Spoon and forks were placed back in the drawer. Fridge magnets were stuck nicely back onto the refrigerator and I once I was done, I fell backwards onto the couch.

I looked around as I place my hands behind my head to see how I’ve out done myself in cleaning the place up. “You did well, Jung Yunho,” I said to myself with much satisfaction and said one last time before sleeping, “You did well.”

Min Young’s POV

I woke up from my sleep when I felt the morning sun hit my skin. The warm feeling rejuvenated me as I sat up and looked around my room. I rubbed my eyes and wondered why my head throbbed. I pushed my covers aside and got out of bed so I could walk over to my bathroom.

As I stood in front of my sink, my hardly opened eyes could hardly make out my reflection in the mirror. I bent over and washed my face so at least my squinting eyes would open fully and I’d be able to see myself clearly.

My eyes sore for some reason and I wasn’t wearing my pyjama clothes. Why is it that I didn’t change into my pyjamas? I was wondering how on Earth I even got up here because I didn’t remember a thing when suddenly, I heard clanking coming from downstairs.

My heart skipped a beat when I heard it. I turned towards my bathroom door and thought, ‘It can’t be’. I was excited, angry, confused and everything at the same time. Is it really him? Did he really come home?

I ran out of my room and ran down the stairs. I called out his name, “Si Won,” only to be disappointed when I found someone completely different in my kitchen.

He turned around when he heard me say the name of my husband and smiled. “Good morning,” he greeted as he walked over towards the counter to face me. “Did you have a great night’s sleep?” he asked.

“Yunho,” was all I was able to say. Almost in an instant, yesterday’s events filled my mind all too suddenly. I had to take a few steps back so I could absorb the intensity of all those memories. As soon as my flashback ended, I looked around and noticed everything was spick and span. There was no trace of my break down last night which made me wonder, “What . . . how . . . when . . .” I couldn’t even conduct a single sentence and massaged my temple as I leaned back against my couch.

“Hey, you okay over there?” Yunho asked and approached me. “I bet you’re wondering what happened to the mess you made.” I looked up to him and just shot him a questioning look. He leaned against the couch beside me and crossed his arms as he explained, “Well . . . it was either I sleep with the mess or clean up. You guess what happens next.”

I looked down to the clean floor and couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. I left a man to clean up my mess. How woman-like. Not to mention the fact that it was our first night in the house together. To make matter’s worst, I didn’t even do breakfast. He must be starving.

“I think I should get cracking on breakfast,” I muttered as I got off of the couch.

“No need,” Yunho said which made me turn around. He explained as he his head towards the dining table, “I took the trouble ordering some breakfast since you were still asleep. Hope you don’t mind Black Bean Noodle.”

I looked over to the dining table and there were two bowls on the table. I turned back to him and just stared at him in awe. He just smiles and sways from side-to-side as if eagerly waiting for a compliment. He looked too adorable for words. I laughed at the way he looked as he looked up, avoids eye contact, looks around and pouts his lips.

“Thank you,” I finally said and he looked to me and smiled wide.

“You’re welcome,” he said in reply and led me the way to the table. Once I got to the table, Yunho pulled out my chair for me which was a little unexpected. He then asks as he looks down to me from behind me, “Do you want coffee?”

“Sure,” I said and nodded with a smile as I looked up to him.

He walked over to my kitchen and when he came back, he held a mug in hand that had steam coming off of it. The coffee was nice and hot. When he placed it beside me, I took it gingerly and blew on it before taking a sip. The feeling of the warm liquid sliding down my throat and settling in the pits of my stomach made my morning. Not to mention at how delicious the coffee tasted. Years of having coffee made by me, to have someone make it and taste equally as good really was refreshing.

“This coffee is good,” I complimented as I took another sip.

“Why thank you,” he said as he unwrap his bowl.

“So,” I started as I start to unwrap my bowl myself, “You’re up early.”

“I’m an early bird,” he admitted proudly as he mixed his noodles. “It became sort of a norm when I started working.” Yunho added.

I nodded as I too started to mix my bowl of noodles and said, “Thank you again.”

He looked up and asked as soon as he had swallowed, “For what?”

“For everything,” I said and looked down. I couldn’t meet his eyes. “I mean, I was – no, I am – a time bomb. I just exploded and . . .” I trailed off when I didn’t know what else to say.

“Hey, it’s okay.” Yunho then tried to look into my eyes as he said, “If I were you I probably would’ve done the same thing.”

I looked into his eyes and they were very warm and sincere. How could some stranger be so kind? I let out a sigh and just said, “Thank you,” yet again.

After that, we ate in silence. I would steal glances at Yunho as he reads the paper he had picked up. I couldn’t help but admire him as I stared. His bedhead hair a tousle, his eyes really engrossed in today’s headline and that face. He was slightly tanner than Si Won and I couldn’t help but let my eyes travel along his arms as he flexed them to read the paper. Not to say that Si Won didn’t have any muscles but he hardly makes an effort to woo me when I’m around the house so I don’t find him one bit alluring; whereas this creature in front of me was completely tempting.

When Yunho looked up at me, I quickly looked away from staring and pursed my lips. I noticed from the corner of my eye Yunho had a small smile on the corner of his lips and I just had to blush pink. ‘Oh God, he noticed,’ I thought and bit my lower lip – hard.

“You know what,” I said as I pushed myself up and he looked up from the paper to look at my face as I said, “I’m going to take a shower.”

“I’ll be right here,” he said as he continued to read the paper.

As I was upstairs, I sneakily peeked behind the wall to see what he was doing and he looked up the same time I popped my head out. My eyes widened in surprise when he caught me and I just pulled back and leaned against the wall. I slowly slid down against the wall and covered my face from the embarrassment creeping up to me.

After a moment of rolling around in pure embarrassment only did I crawl up to my room and took a shower. As I let the droplets of water drench me to the bone, I couldn’t help but constantly remember that moment at the stairs. Ah! What a way to start a morning.

Yunho’s POV

I was still seated on the dining table, reading the paper intently. Min Young had come back from her shower to the living room in a pair of burgundy khaki’s and a lavender sweater. Her shoulder length hair was clipped up and pulled back so her face was shown to the world for it to see.

I tried my best not to look at her as she came to me and asked, “Do you mind if I have the last page?” I looked up to her and cocked an eyebrow at her. She smiled sheepishly and said, “Uh . . . there’s a crossword puzzle there so I’d like to have it.” I turned my attention back to the paper, looked to the back and true enough, there was a crossword puzzle. I took the page out and once I had handed it to her, she bowed and said, “Thank you.” She’s been saying a lot of that to me, makes me feel appreciated.

As she sat on the couch, her feet crossed and tucked beneath her, biting on her lower lip as she tried to solve the crossword puzzle – I watched with much interest. The way she tilted her head and then furrow her eyebrows because the puzzle was hard and then her expression lit up because she figured it out made me smile because she looked just too cute.

I had placed my chin onto my palm and continued to watch her in secret. I tried to act like I was still reading the paper but every move she made, made it hard for me to look away. I couldn’t help but compare her beauty to Su Yeon. Compared to Su Yeon, she didn’t wear much make-up but she still looked fine, she was tall and carried herself well. Her heart-shaped face was accompanied by a small pointed nose, two almond-shaped eyes and a pair of plump pink lips. As she smiled, my heart went a flutter at the beauty that she is.

How could a philandering husband like Si Won get a gem like her? Come to think of it, how did I even not notice her? Suddenly realizing, I hadn’t taken my shower yet. Maybe I should as I sneakily took in a sniff of my under arms but remembered . . . I brought no stuff of mine with me. Oh great, I have to go take my stuff from that place.

I stood up and as I walked over to the coat’s rack, I said, “Hey, I need to go somewhere. Will you be alright alone?”

She places the crossword puzzle down and turns to me to say, “Don’t worry. The place will still be in the same condition as you left it.”

“It better be,” I joked and she just smiled before turning her attention back to the puzzle.

I got out of the house and straight for my bike. When I mounted and was putting on my gloves, I suddenly noticed people around the neighbourhood giving me glances. Then, there were two joggers pass me by and they whispered something to each other after they glanced at me. As I looked across the road, I couldn’t help but notice two elderly women talking among themselves as their eyes stayed glued to me.

I didn’t like the fact that they were staring and talking about me. Maybe this part of the suburb wasn’t the nice one. I suddenly had a bad feeling just sitting there, being watched of my every move so I slid on my helmet and just rode away.

After parking in one of the spots of the front, I took off my helmet and looked up to the building standing in front of me, having second thoughts of what I’m about to do. The last time I had visited this place was because I was leading an angry wife to her cheating husband and now, I was here to get my stuff. At least a month’s duration of time of belongings I needed.

The guard, Mr Jin Mo, saw me again and just let me pass through. I’ve been living here for the past three years so he’s been seeing more than anyone so even without my credentials he could let me pass by. As I got into the elevator to get to my floor, I tapped my foot against the floor. I was nervous; I didn’t know what to say. To add on to the shame, I had to face that bastard – and he’s in my apartment!

As I stood in front of the door, I took in a really deep breath before I knocked. It took a moment but finally someone opened the door and it wasn’t exactly someone I had wanted to see.

“Yunho,” Si Won said as he leans his side against the doorway with an amused smile on his face.

“Si Won,” I said back only in a much – less amused tone.

“What are you doing here?” I suddenly hear Su Yeon say and looked to his side where she curled an arm around his and just clung to him for dear life. Her tone held a cold edge to it. Just one night to be able to spend with her toy, she’s all cold towards me.

“In case it hasn’t occurred to you, I haven’t brought anything for my stay the next month,” I explained in the same cold manner which surprised her as I stared intensely at her. She couldn’t take it and had to look away. “So,” I looked up from her to Si Won and asked with a smile, “May I?”

He pulled Su Yeon with him as he moved aside to give me way and just watched as I walked in and went straight to my room. As expected, the bed wasn’t made which meant they had done it on the very bed I did it with my own wife. I just stared the bed for a moment, clenched my fists and my teeth. I could just as easily kill him but a month’s separation seems to sound much better than years of prison.

I took out my luggage from under the bed and went straight to my closet where already, my clothes had been mixed with his. I just pulled out my shirts and t-shirts; threw them into my luggage, then, my pants, sweats and slacks. As I folded a few tops, I noticed a figure standing by the door.

I knew who it was and just asked casually, “What do you want?”

“You know you don’t have to be so cold towards your own wife,” she said as she came closer.

“Oh, so now you call yourself my wife,” I said with a smile as if it humoured me.

“Oh don’t be so sarcastic, Yunho-ssi,” Su Yeon said as she leans herself against me and gives my right arm a light rub. “It’s only for a month,” she said as if it was harmless. “Consider it like a . . . a hall pass for you to have fun.”

I turned around to look at her and asked, “A hall pass? To do what, sleep with every woman I meet?” I pushed her hands aside and slammed my luggage shut. Before I stepped out of the bedroom, I stopped and turned around to tell her, “I loved you, Su Yeon. I never thought of cheating on you. If I did, I thought I’d die. I would never think of hurting you but I guess . . . you never thought of me in anything, did you?”

She was silent and she didn’t have the courage to look at me so the whole time I spoke, I was looking at her profile. I probably wouldn’t even listen to her anyway if she had anything to say.

I passed by Si Won who was looking down to his shoes. He probably heard our small chat but didn’t bother to say anything. I stopped in front of him, gave him a look and said, “Good luck. You’re going to need it.”

After that, I walked out and never looked back.
