“Why aren’t you speaking, Director Kim? Too shocked to say anything?”

Hyunjoong looked up and smiled at her. “Is this why you asked me to come here? To show me this picture?”

“Of course. This photo was taken in the 1970s and I want to know why are you in this picture? Two infected men killed my parents and how did they get the reconstituted blood to make them human-like?” Alyssa questioned.

“It’s all started by Dr Kwon Sangwoo. He lied to us and I am one of the victims as well. Dr Kwon hid the fact that there were test subjects for this virus and he insisted in continuing the research and experiment. But your parents and I did not agree with his decision.”

“What happened after that?”

“In order to preserve the virus, we injected the virus into our bodies.” Hyunjoong answered.

Alyssa remained skeptical at his reply but she just kept her silence about it. It was only some moments later then she spoke again. “The other infect test subjects must have been the ones who killed my parents.”

“I’m sorry to hear about it. I would have helped your parents out if I know about it. If I know you’re their daughter, I would have told you the truth right at the beginning.” Hyunjoong said, stretching his hand out to Alyssa’s hair. “This is also the reason why I have been trying to stop Dr Kwon from continuing his father’s research.”

On the other hand, Luhan had gotten more information from the blood analysis while Jaejoong had also stumbled upon contradictory information about Hyunjoong.

His bio list indicated his birth date as 1971 but there was an article published in 1977 with a group picture of him and three other doctors. “WHAT THE IS THIS?” Jaejoong muttered when he stared at the picture on the screen. “It’s impossible for him to grow into an adult within 9 years!”

Just then his room door was open and Alyssa was standing at the door. “Why aren’t you sleeping, Mr Kim? Don’t you have surgeries in the morning?”

“Come! Look at this!” Jaejoong said, moving his laptop to show Alyssa his findings. “The director should be in his 70s but he looks so ing young! Too young to be true! When I first met him, I had already found it odd because he looked way too young to even become a hospital director! He looks like he is of the same age as me! And this! Aren’t they your parents? How did he know your parents and Dr Kwon’s father? And what is it that you are keeping from me, Miss Chua?” Jaejoong asked, looking angrily at his girlfriend.

“I need you to be safe from danger.”

“Damn it! Alyssa Chua, I am your boyfriend and I should be the one protecting from all harms not the other way round!”

“The director will kill you if you know too much and he might be behind my parents’ deaths. The infected man that my mum refers in her video might be the director himself.”

At the same time Luhan appeared behind Alyssa and it was obvious that he had overheard the conversation between the couple.

“Jie, are you okay?” Luhan asked with Jaejoong staring at Alyssa worriedly.

“I don’t know! I don’t ing know!” She told them and walked away, leaving the two in shock.

Alone in her study room, Alyssa was staring at the picture of her parents, which she had cut out from the article.

“Mum! Dad! Can you tell me what should I do?” She mumbled, holding the picture to her heart silently.

Jaejoong entered the study room and swirled the chair around to make Alyssa face him. “Are you okay?” He asked.

“Yes.” Alyssa smiled.

“You know…”

“Know what?”

“My shoulder is strong enough for you despite the fact that you are stronger than me. I am here for you. Just cry it out if you want to.”

Alyssa stared at the man for a moment before she finally broke down, crying.

Jaejoong stepped forward and lugged her closer, putting her head on his stomach and her tear to soak his sweater wet.

The two hooded vampires were in Hyunjoong’s apartment and the man was standing in front of the window, looking at the night scene of Seoul city.

“Answer me! Why did you keep your meeting with Alyssa from me?” Hyunjoong hollered, grabbing Minho by the neck. “Because of you, she knows that you are infected and is undetectable because of the reconstituted blood! Tell me how should I punish you?”

“I’m sorry, master.” Minho said, trembling.

“Take this as a warning for you.” Hyunjoong hissed and then Minho felt a pain at his neck before he out.

Hyunjoong backed away the moment the latter fainted and he threw him towards the other vampire. “Bring him back.”

“Yes, master.”

“Kyuhyun, I want you to keep an eye on him. I don’t want him to get any nearer to her. You understand?”
