“BAM!” Alyssa got slammed by the truck and hit the ground hard.

Jaejoong gasped in astonishment. “Dr Chua…”

Alyssa began to transform right before Jaejoong’s eyes and at the same time, the truck driver has also rushed out of the truck to check on her. “How are you, miss?”

“I’m fine.” Alyssa waved him off with her back facing him.

“Are… Are you sure?” The truck driver stammered.

“Yes. Just go.” Alyssa said, transforming back to her normal self and making her way to the patient.

Once the truck was gone, Jaejoong went up to help her with the patient. “Are you an idiot?”

“What?” Alyssa looked up.

“Are you hurt?” Jaejoong asked as he supported the patient up.

“No. Let’s go back.” Alyssa said.

As the duo approached the hospital’s entrance, the security guards rushed out to block the entrance. “We will take the patient from here, Dr Chua.” The head of security department told the two.

“I will take the patient back myself.” Alyssa said, looking up with a stern look on her face.

“I’m sorry that I cannot do that, Dr Chua. Please hand the patient over.”

“If that’s the case, why didn’t you people prevent this from happening in the first place? How did the patient manage to get out of the hospital just like that?” Jaejoong questioned back.

“Please hand the patient over.” The head of security department told them. “If you don’t comply to our request, we will need to use physical force.”

Jaejoong was furious and wanted to take them on, but Alyssa held him back and handed the patient over to the security. “What are you doing?” Jaejoong shouted at her.

Alyssa didn’t say anything and walk away, leaving Jaejoong behind.

Jaejoong watched her left and let out a sigh, feeling troubled over what had just taken place at the road.

“Jie, don’t you think it’s a set up?” Luhan questioned.

Alyssa nodded.

“Maybe they have negative effects to the virus so the director decided to ditch them.”

Alyssa just stayed silent, not saying anything.

“Anyway I’ve gotten the blood analyzed.” Luhan handed the report to her. “I have to warn you. The results are shockingly disturbing.”

“What?” Alyssa asked as she read the report. “Children blood…” Alyssa’s hands were shaking and anger flashed past her eyes.

“It’s totally illegal and unethical!” Luhan complained.

Without saying anything, Alyssa got up and left the house, heading to Hyunjoong’s house.

“What is it, Dr Chua?” Hyunjoong asked when he went to get the door.

“Why didn’t you tell that those are blood from children?”

“But you didn’t drink, did you?” Hyunjoong smiled.

“Why?”

“Because it does not have any antibodies and other impurities. Anyway they are orphans; they have no one to love them so they can earn money by selling their blood. I don’t see why can’t take their blood.”

“That doesn’t mean we can take their blood for our sake.”

“Then do you want to drink blood from humans directly?” Hyunjoong questioned her back.

Seeing the stunned look on her face, Hyunjoong just shot her a smirk and closed the door behind him, leaving her outside.

The next morning Jaejoong crawled out of bed and prepared himself for work and he wasn’t in his usual energetic self. When he bumped into Alyssa at the entrance, Alyssa noticed him looking pretty lethargic. “Are you okay?” She asked.

“Yes.” Jaejoong replied and walked away. He was still bogging down by those unanswerable questions that she had encountered with Alyssa – wounds that healed on its own, staying unhurt despite being hit by a truck, throwing a man to the pavement with ease and being extremely sensitive to blood. “Don’t tell me she is a…”

As usual Alyssa was doing her round when she bumped into a crying Nayoung. “Nayoung-ah, what happen?”

“I overheard my father telling my mother that he dreamt about my wedding again.” Nayoung sobbed.

Alyssa handed the girl a tissue, which the girl took it to wipe her tear. “Dr Chua, can I ask you for a favour?”

“Sure.”

Nayoung signaled Alyssa to come closer and then she started whispering at her ear.

Alyssa called for a meeting where all her team members and Hyunjoong were present to attend her special meeting.

“The purpose for this meeting is to announce something.” Alyssa began.

“What is it, Dr Chua?” Junjin asked with a sarcastic tone.

“I am sure many of you are already aware about my resignation and I think I should tell all of you that I am suffering from a panic disorder. I’m extremely sorry for not telling you earlier. I have developed this psychological illness while service in Prague war zone and I came to work at the hospital too quickly. I should have gotten my treatment before coming to work so during my notice period, I will need everyone’s help to take up those surgeries that I have on hand.”

“I’ll cover for all of Dr Chua’s surgeries.” Jaejoong announced.

“I can take up some of Dr Chua’s surgeries so that Dr Kim won’t be too overloaded.” Eric added.

“Very good. This shall be the arrangement.” Hyunjoong told the group. “All of you may leave now. Dr Chua, please stay put because I need to talk to you.”
