“Hey jie! You’re back!” Luhan waved happily at Alyssa when he saw her coming back. “How’s date with Dr Kim? What’s that in the box?”

“What date are you talking about?” Alyssa shot him a glare and sat down on the couch.

“Hehe! Anyway I have done a review about the uploaded information. I think Dr Kwon Sangwoo must have gone to Prague gravesite and your parents were also involved in the research with him and the director.”

“That’s not what he told me.” Alyssa said. “He said he got infected while treating an old woman during his volunteer trip at Prague and he mentioned nothing about Dr Kwon or my parents.”

“Jie, don’t let him know that you are aware of his relationship with Dr Kwon and your parents.” Luhan advised.

“What is his intention for lying to me?”

“I don’t know but I am almost sure that Dr Kwon Sangwoo is the one who created the VAM-01 virus from the gravesite samples.”

“Anyway I have something to tell you.”

“What is it, jie?”

“Remember about the boy that I had rescued in the woods when I was a teenager?”

“Uh huh… Don’t tell me you had met him? Where?” Luhan sat forward, looking eagerly at Alyssa for the answer.

“Hospital.”

“WHAT? He is your patient?”

Alyssa shook her head. “Nope. He is my colleague.”

“WHAT? Don’t tell me is Kwon Jiyong?”

“Kim Jaejoong.”

“WHAT THE! Are you sure? Jie, this is not a movie. Coincidences like that will never happen in real life.”

“Well. Sad to say this is the truth and such coincidence does happen.”

“Wahahahahahaha! Oh yeah! My jie is finally going to have a boyfriend! Yahoo!”

“Shut up!”

---

At the isolation ward, Patient Jung Jihoon was having a seizure while Hyunjoong and Victoria were looking at him.

“Master, I don’t think he can last more than three days.”

“Maybe he could live a new life.” A smile crept across Hyunjoong’s face.

---

The next morning Alyssa and Jaejoong went to meet up with Nayoung when Alyssa handed the dress that her mother had bought her for her birthday. “This is a present from me.” She told Nayoung as she handed the dress.

“Thank you, Dr Chua!” Nayoung beamed.

“Now go get changed and be as beautiful as the dress.”

Nayoung nodded and ran off to change.

The hospital hallway was decorated with banners, balloons where everyone gathered with Sister Sylvia blessing the ceremony and Yifan was sitting by the piano, waiting for the lead to arrive.

Mrs Lee wheeled her husband in with Nayoung by the other side. Dressed in suit, Mr Lee looked exceptionally happy and ready to walk his daughter down the aisle.

Alyssa turned to Jaejoong when the latter got her hint and stepped forward, walking towards the end of the white aisle runner.

Jaejoong showed Seunghyun a thumb-up and melodious music began to fill the entire hallway.

There wasn’t anyone that wasn’t crying at the scene when the sickly father walked his daughter down the aisle. Mr Lee took his daughter’s hand and smiled. “Nayoung-ah, appa will remember this moment.” With that Mr Lee fainted even before he could hand his daughter to Jaejoong’s hand.

“Appa!”

---

Mr Lee was lying unconscious on the bed with his wife and daughter by his side.

“Dr Chua, how is my husband?” Mrs Lee asked.

“There’s nothing I can do for him. I’m sorry.” Alyssa bowed and left the ward.

But right after she left the ward, Victoria entered the ward. “Mrs Lee, I have a suggestion for you…”

---

By the time Alyssa knew about it, she found Mrs Lee and Nayoung seated at Mr Lee’s bedside at one of the wards of Section 21.

“Why?” Alyssa asked.

“Dr Song says there’s hope for my husband with the new experimental drugs and medical care is free too. This is a chance that I cannot afford to lose.” Mrs Lee replied.

“I am the doctor-in-charge. I should be the one treating Mr Lee.”

“I’m sorry, Dr Chua.” Another voice spoke.

Alyssa turned to see Victoria walking into the ward. “The medication has already been administered and I am the doctor-in-charge now. I guess you should leave my patient alone.” Victoria smiled, gesturing her hand towards the door.

Alyssa turned to give the patient and his wife a look before leaving the ward. She went straight to the carpark to wait for Hyunjoong and when the latter appeared, she stepped out of the shadow to block his way.

“What are you up to? What have you been doing at the hospital? Is this related to our virus?” Alyssa questioned.

“Yes.” Hyunjoong answered coolly.

Alyssa grabbed his collars and pulled him towards her, hissing lowly. “Why did you do that to the patients?”

“I can explain to you. Please follow me.”

---

Hyunjoong brought Alyssa to his apartment. “Take a seat. Make yourself comfortable.”

“Don’t have to. I need to go back to work. Just say what you wanted to say.”

“My intention is to create antigens and antibodies for humanity. It’s all for good cause.”

Alyssa let out a rather sarcastic chuckle. “So you are using SNUH’s patients as your guinea pigs? Are you even fit to be a doctor? Two patients are dead and the others are still sick! There are so many symptoms of infection and yet you are saying this is for good cause? Cut your craps, will you?”

“Calm down, Alyssa.” Hyunjoong said, putting both hands on her shoulders. “The symptoms are only temporary and they will disappear in a week. Testing almost complete and I can guarantee the result will be astounding. Illnesses can be cured and people will be able to live beyond 150 years.”

“That’s you and your insane ideal world!” Alyssa slapped his hands away. “It’s unethical because you are making use of homeless people, elderly and orphans. You are giving them false hope because of your crazy experiment!”

Hyunjoong walked towards his desk and showed Alyssa a picture of him and a little boy. “This boy was abandoned by his adoptive parents because his medical bills were very high. In the end, he jumped from the hospital’s roof in desperation.”

Alyssa just stood there, not saying a thing.

“He was my patient; he could have lived longer and should have been happier.” Hyunjoong continued.

“That is his fate.” Alyssa commented.

“If there were such a vaccine at that time, he would have been cured. I am not just developing a medicine, I am creating a took that can help to change one’s fate!”

“Do you think you are the one who can make such judgment on someone’s fate?” Alyssa challenged.

“Alyssa, I am not the one who can make such judgment but the patients can. They can decide if they want to take up this vaccine or not. You need to understand this.”

Alyssa kept quiet but deep down in her heart, she knew she had wavered momentarily and was unsure about the confusing mixture of Hyunjoong’s convincing words and unsavory ethics.

---

“Damn it! Why isn’t she answering her phone?” Jaejoong cursed as he threw his earpiece down at the passenger’s seat and sped off to Alyssa’s house.

“Ding dong! Ding dong!”

“Coming!” Luhan shouted
