Chapter 12
Cuteness Overload
Yoochun always thought he was bad at expressing his real feelings to other people. He was actually a considerate merman who always tried to think about others first than himself. Yet because he tended to be silent and be a listener, usually people didn’t notice him. Some even thought he didn’t care about others. No, they’re wrong, Yoochun was trying his best to express himself but he kept failing.
At least until the first day at school he was noticed miraculously and got into a group. He was afraid at first he would fail like he always did but as time passed, he realized he didn’t need to because they always gave him chances to speak. His courage mainly came from Junsu. He loved Junsu, the bright and cheerful nymph who was always there for him.
“Chunface!” Junsu’s voice woke the merman boy from his daydreaming. He smiled at Junsu and connected their palms. The green root started tickling Yoochun’s arms as he laughed softly.
“Chunface?” Yunho asked.
“Yes! Chunface is the face Chunnie makes when he’s thinking too deep,” Junsu explained.
“That’s a…good name?” Jaejoong wasn’t sure what to say.
“That Chunface will turn into wrinkle once you are aged, hyung,” Changmin gave his usual remark, only to be smacked by Kyuhyun from behind,” Yaaa! What’s that for?”
“Show respect to your hyung,” Kyuhyun ordered as Changmin hissed.
“Like you are,” Changmin complained.
“I’m practically older than all of you,” Kyuhyun frowned and then he smirked,” But since it’s too pitiful if all of you bully Minnie, I’ll be the second youngest after Minnie.”
“Hyunie, ‘bully’ is not a good word,” Junsu said as he couldn’t help but to recall the bullies’ accident. The ghost apologized the next second but the nymph shook his head, saying it was okay.
“Now, now, we really need to discuss our performance,” Yunho said with his leader tone,” We still have no clue what song and dance we will do…”
“Rock!” Jaejoong claimed excitedly as all of them wondered how in the elf world, shy elf like Kim Jaejoong could love rock music. It was just beyond their imagination.
“Um…We need to dance too, hyung. We can’t really dance to rock music,” Changmin tried to reason with the elf, but Jaejoong just wouldn’t give up.
“We can do head bang and rock stuff on the stage,” Jaejoong smiled at his idea. The rest was at lost how they could persuade the elf to do other genre. Changmin was sure he really would only scream in the background if they really did rock.
“Rock is a good one, hyung,” Yoochun suddenly spoke as the rest was eyeing the merman boy in horror,” But not everyone can take such high-volume music. I think we should consider re-making some general music. It will show our creativity and I think the teacher will love it.”
“Ummm,” Jaejoong finally was showing an agreement. The rest could only thanked Yoochun to control the over excited elf.
”Okay, no rock, so what music will we do?” Changmin asked.
“Well, I found this few days ago and somehow I could touch and play it. It’s quite good,” Kyuhyun suddenly brought a CD out of nowhere. They decided to play the CD using a CD player next to them. They’re in one of music chambers and it would be a perfect place to train for their performance.
“Jinagabeorin~ eorin sijeoren~ pungseoneul tago~ naraganeun yeppeun ggumdo ggueotji~” a children-like song came beaming in the room. Changmin almost screamed when he heard it. It was too fluffy for the vampire, he preferred Jaejoong’s idea of rock music and he’s screaming in the background.
“This’s so cheerful!” Junsu was the first one to comment,” I love it! Let’s do this!”
“I love it too,” Yoochun said. He actually didn’t care what music it was as long as Junsu loved it.
“It has so much spirit too and we can make dance move with this song,” Yunho added as he already began to imagine the dance move.
“I’m okay with it,” Jaejoong gave his approving nods. Kyuhyun smiled, not because his song was agreeable, but because someone was on misery.
“Owww…I hate you guys,” Changmin muttered as the rest laughed.
“Now, for formation, Jaejoongie you should be in the center with me,” Yunho began to give his leader speech,” Then Suie and Chunnie can take the right side. Minnie and Hyunie will be on the left side. Is that clear? We’ll dance in partner!”
“Hyung,” Junsu suddenly called Yunho excitedly,” We can do this wave move at the chorus, it fits, right?”
“Yes and we’ll do it together!” Jaejoong cheered excitedly.
“And maybe splitting the part so each…pair can have their couple singing and dancing?” Yoochun suggested as he blushed at the thought he danced and sang together with Junsu. He couldn’t help to use his palms to hide his blushing face.
“I can’t even---“ Changmin gave up, he opened his blood bag as he suddenly felt anemic. Kyuhyun just laughed at the vampire loudly, causing the vampire to chase him around the room. Then, Kyuhyun remembered he was a ghost so he slipped away by passing the wall.
“Yaaa! That’s cheating!” Changmin gave his angry glare to the innocent wall.
“Someone once said as I quote ‘Hyung, our power is our gift. It’s not a sin to use it for goodness.’” Kyuhyun’s voice echoed through the room,” The goodness in my action is avoiding an outraged starving vampire who will bite me.”
“Yaaa, like you’ll blee---“
“Both of you come here and stop playing,” Yunho said sternly, causing the ghost and vampire to stop chasing each other and went back to the others.
Jaejoong couldn’t help but to be amazed by the stern dominant dragon. Wait, did Jae just use the word ‘dominant’? It didn’t make sense with the sentence and the elf began to feel somehow uncomfortable. Yet, he couldn’t know what that meant for now. He would know in many years later.
So, they started practicing. First, they made sure they got each other’s role. Then they practiced the steps one by one. Yunho and Junsu learnt the dance moved like a pro, it just came naturally with them. The dragon and nymph boy leaded the others until all of them were fluent with the move.
Then, it came the singing part. They already divided the part before so all they needed to do was remembering the lyric. The song wasn’t that hard and since there’re six of them, it’s a lot easier.
Jaejoong and Yoochun easily remembered the lyric. Changmin had good memory too but since screaming was all he did mentally, he was a little bit slower. Kyuhyun didn’t know why he remembered the lyrics the instant he saw it. It was like he knew the song but forgotten about it.
“Okay, everyone,” Yunho gathered them for final practice for the day,” Let’s start!”
They sang and danced perfectly at the opening, then came the couple part. All of them did well until they reached the chorus. Then, mistakes started to show themselves. Yoochun almost tripped because of Junsu’s green root. Changmin almost froze when Kyuhyun accidentally went pass him. Yunho pushed Jaejoong on the floor as he was too into his dancing.
“I’m so sorry! Are you okay, Jaejoongie?” Yunho went frantic as he examined the elf.
“Ummm, I’m okay,” Jaejoong lied, he could feel his arms hurt a lot and it might get bruise. Jaejoong didn’t want to get bruise, not because it hurt, he didn’t want to make Yunho felt guilty.
“Let me,” Kyuhyun took Jaejoong’s arm and used his coldness to stop the pain and prevent it to be a bruise. Jaejoong felt his arm a lot better as he thanked the ghost. Yunho was beyond relief.
“Umm, Hyunie, I can use some of your cold too,” Yoochun whispered as he walked limply. Junsu’s green root that tripped him made him hurt his knee a little. He didn’t want his bright Junsu to be sad and the ghost got the signal.
“We should really be careful not to use our power when we dance or we’ll kill each other,” Changmin commented on the background.
