Chapter 6
Game Plan
I slammed the door shut once I reached home, feeling relief wash over me. I had thought I would die out there.
I had just talked to a vampire. I shuddered. I didn't know why she thought I was one, but I didn't want to find out anyway.
"What? How did I say all that crap, seriously?" I scoffed at myself. "Really.. don't hate anyone? Don't hate anyone.. don't hate the vampires for my parents death..? Whatever. It's a different case."
"So, Min-ah thought you were a vampire?" Hyo Joo asked.
"Yea. I think I'd better change school. I can't believe I actually made enemies with one. I thought she was going to kill me that time," I breathed, still afraid from hours ago.
"No. No, wait, think about it," Hyo Joo snapped her fingers. "It's just the most ridiculous thing ever, but then again-- she thinks you're a vampire. So she won't think about killing you. And you just managed to convince her to not think about killing you."
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Jong-suk asked.
Hyo Joo gave a cunning smile.
"Hey, Min-ah," I waved to her after school ended. She turned and smiled like she'd been expecting me forever.
I grabbed her arm, and lead her to the rooftop. "I've something to tell you." I said.
"Really? Me too. I asked Mr Shin to assign us in the same group."
"What?" I gasped, unable to hide my horror.
Min-ah looked at me wierdly. "Why? Aren't we friends? I mean, it's better than being enemies, right? So let's start over. Annyeong, I'm Min-ah! Nice meeting you~" She cooed.
I rolled my eyes. "What do think I am? Do you have to say it that way? Am I an idol?"
Min-ah puffed her cheeks. "I'm trying to be friendly over here, yet you're being as boastful as ever. What, am I gonna eat you!"
She stuck her hand out. "So let's have a proper greeting."
"Ani. I'm not your friend. I don't want to." I shoved her hand away. "What're you going to do about it?" I smirked.
"Yah!! Didn't you say we shouldn't hate each other? So can you-"
"Aren't you shouting at me now? Look at you talk."
"Urgh!! I'm so done with you!" She stomped away, but I grabbed her arm. "But it seems like I haven't asked my question yet."
She glared at me. "I'm not going to listen, ani, ani!" She covered her ears, but I removed them easily.
"What was that, the voice I heard that day when you touched me?" I asked.
"Spy on Min-ah. Find out more about vampires from her, and you can avenge your parents. A vampire just walked right into your hands. You can't just let it go so easily. At least squeeze it dry," Hyo Joo said.
"Well..I can hear people's thoughts and let them hear my thoughts when I touch them." Min-ah replied.
"B-but.. what if she finds out? She'll kill me." I shook my head.
"Then you'll have to be brave. Don't flinch infront of her, and you'll have to pretend you're really a vampire. Then she'll have to believe you. Don't ponder over it. A vampire just fell into your hands. It's not a coincidence. God is helping us."
"How?" I asked.
"You don't have it? A power? My uncle said that every vampire has it. That's weird."
"W-wait." My eyes widened." You mean to say, you've read my thoughts everytime you touch me?"
Min-ah bit her lip. "Erm, well.. that can't be helped.."
"What??!" I screeched. I puffed my cheeks angrily. No wonder she seemed to have always read my thoughts. Damnit.
A power. I gulped. Everything is just turning from bad to worse. I had thought only turned werewolves could have such powers, but vampires had them too. This made things alooot harder. Plus, I also lied to one.
"So.. your parents have been lying to you?" I asked.
Min-ah nodded. "I thought they had died after rejecting the deal from the Higher Ups. But my uncle found their letters in my old house. It turned out they planned to accept the deal. And they're still running away. I have to find them and stop them, no matter what."
I looked at the ground. She must have had a hard time. It was not only me having a hard
