The Band

Dark Prince

Across dark, empty streets, Injun walked along with his guardian angel by his side, a bitter wind blowing across their faces as if in warning. The more Injun thought about the Ouija Board business, the more his stomach turned with the thought of Evil being present. Although the boy had learned not to fear them when not in battle, he was still uneasy about the thought of people so easily having them by their sides, so easily listening to their evil words. Evil wasn't something to take lightly, Injun now knew.

When a deteriorating old house came into view, so did light that Injun could now recognize as heavenly. Atop houses and on the streets, there were many angels hovering, holding spears and other battle gear. Jin told the boy that they were there in case Injun's life came into danger, which made Injun's throat constrict in fear. Once again, he didn't know how to face against a whole group of demons. Injun knew by now that all the Kidemonas could do was drive his opponents away, but that they'd also rather he banish the Evil. It made him wonder just how fine the line between "his life in danger" and "he can still make it" was. The Dark Prince thought it better if he didn't know the answer to that question.

At the entrance to the old house that Jin was pointing to, Injun gathered every ounce of his strength in one thick swallow. His guardian wished him good luck as he opened the doors and entered. Inside, a group of young teenagers looked up from the board they were concentrating on, and asked who it was. Suddenly, one of the teens yelled "don't let go" as some of the teens lifted their hands off of the magnifying glass to get a better look at the intruder. As soon as their fingers lost contact with the Evil object, their eyes rolled back as their mouths foamed. The possessed teens' violent thrashing knocked off the rest of their friends' hands from the magnifying glass, sending them into demonic thrashing as well. Watching that in horror, Injun's eyes fired up with determination as he proclaimed the summoning words.

Right at that moment, the teenagers stopped thrashing, but seemed to be rendered unconscious, as Injun waited for the demons to make their appearances. For another few seconds, there was a stillness as the Dark Prince and his opponents focused their energies for a good fight. Injun only hoped that the angels outside would know when to save him...

Just as Injun thought, a group of five demons slinked out of the shadows, each having a dangerous gleam in its eyes. They stood and moved with a purpose, one that showed that none of their moves were random. Everything they did, they seemed to know what was going on where and who was to do what. A team. Though the battle was still yet to truly commence, Injun already began to prepare himself for the worst, sharpening his senses, and studying the demons' unnaturally black figures. In an unexpected gesture, the five demons bowed in unison, and began to speak.

"Hello, Dark Prince," One smirked.

"We knew you would come," Two joined in.

"There has been great unrest," Three stepped forward with a deep frown.

"All because you abuse your authority," Four growled, baring its sharp fangs.

"Dark Prince," Five held its hand up to silence the others. "Your father has given us special permission to challenge you."

"Funny," Injun cocked his head to the side in confidence. "I've never considered him my father, and I won't any time soon. Refer to him as your king if you want to, but I am not your prince. No matter what happened at my conception, I will never be your prince!!"

"You cannot escape who you are," Two came forward. "Dark Prince."

In an instant, Injun was surrounded by the band of five, all of them looking at him with an incredibly palpable desire to win. The boy honestly didn't know what would happen if the demons were to win against him before the angels could intervene. Although he was skeptical of their authority over their prince, the fact that they were sent by Satan himself made him wonder if the band of five had been given permission to have him sent to Hell.

Before Injun could ponder on the question any longer, however, Four lunged toward him with a claw raised. He had done this enough times to know how to evade an attack, but there was little room to do so this time. The band of five could close in on him any time they wanted. Also, there was the uncomfortable feeling in his gut that there was something about this group than met the eye, as if they were holding back their true potential. Since Four's attack missed, Injun leapt up to touch the demon and banish it, but it seemed to know his intentions and stepped aside with a laugh.

"I can see you, Dark Prince," Four looked at the boy as it joined the circe of demons, "even when I can't."

So that was it. Injun figured out how they moved with such precision and unity: their minds were connected, and they communicated, which would prove to be a big problem for the banisher. If he moved against one of the demons, despite it having its back to him, the others would warn its comrade, making all of Injun's attacks futile. Attempting to listen to their thoughts would be like trying to find a random channel on the radio, but not impossible. Injun would still need some time to get into their mind system. By experience, he knew it would be a while before he was able to hear their thoughts, especially since there were five of them.

Another attack, this time from One, brought Injun's focus back on the fight, and he evaded it just as easily. But this one didn't just go once, it turned around for another strike, which Injun had to stop by locking his arms against his opponent's. Their strengths were pretty equalled, so One had to step back into the circle. When Injun stood back up, he began to worry as the band of five seemed to be planning something, perhaps multiple attacks. Unfortunately, Injun didn't know how long his opponents would go easy on him. He had to tune into their thoughts as soon as he could, he had to concentrate.

Injun strained his mind to hear what was being thought around him, but the demons took that opportunity to attack at once. Three came from behind to trip him, One scratched and burned him with bared claws, Four the scratches and burned them even more, Five held him down while Two kicked him hard, all in seamless succession. The attacks left Injun writhing in pain on the floor, unable to stand back up from all of the pain. He had taken this kind of beating before from previous battles, but spread out from just one opponent, not all at once from a group. Even after months of exorcising, Injun apparently still had a lot to learn, and what better way to learn than getting your kicked?

The situation took a bated breath of anticipation as the six settled after the attack, but not for long. The band of demons launched quickly into their next attack, rushing forward to deliver their kicks and stomps to the fallen banisher, once again all in perfect formation. It was another round of pain for Injun, who could only lay there and try to shield himself as best as he could. It seemed that there was no way he could get through their defenses now. But right at that moment, Injun felt his mind slip into the right frequency, and he could hear the thoughts of the band of five. They were congratulating each other on their dominance in the fight, saying how their king would reward them handsomely.

Five ordered Three to come from behind where Injun was laying to make another kick, but the banisher flipped around and grabbed the demon's ankles, making it fall face down. Injun took this opportunity to leap forward, touch the demon's forehead, and mutter the banishing words. The four others looked on in horror as their comrade was taken by a tongue of fire, and Injun turned around to face them with a smirk.

It took a moment for the opponents to digest what had happened, but Injun was the most confident. He used their special mind frequency to tell them that it was going to be over, making the band of now four to flinch. Five, their leader, growled and stepped forward in hopes of intimidation, but it didn't really work. All of them knew that if they wanted to change their sharing frequency, they'd have to let each other know what it was, but Injun would always be able to hear. Now the band wouldn't have to rely so heavily on their telepathy.

As the first attack in this new situation, One lifted its arm to let out a blast of rocks, which Injun barely evaded. When he was on the floor, Four took the opportunity to use its special power, a powerful wind from its hands, blowing Injun from the ground all the way to the wall behind him. He was finding it hard to breathe with the wind blowing strongly against him. After that, Two joined in the attack with a torrent of water. Luckily, Injun had developed the ability to form a sort of shield around himself in the past several weeks, and he was now proficient enough to defend against those two. This was proving to be the band's first real struggle in a fight, not that they had faced many exorcists.

Since his great power was beginning to become clear, Injun slowly stepped toward the band of four. The small gesture made the fear in the demons' faces clearer than ever. Suddenly, Two came rushing forward for another physical attack, but Injun focused his energy to telekinetically flip over the demon and pin it to the ground. As he was touched its head, he felt some rocks thrown on his back. One used its power to try to distract Injun, but the boy quickly banished Two while jumping out of One's more powerful attacks. This growing disadvantage was beginning to grate on the demons.

One and Four met their fate not long after that, both crying out that their leader would finish Injun off, a threat he wasn't very willing to believe, but should have been. When Five and Injun were alone and facing each other, the demon gave a sick smile. It bowed its head in acknowledgement, making Injun wonder what was going on.

"You have fought well, Dark Prince," Five snarled. "And you can be sure that I'll be back for you."

Before Injun could react to that, Five sunk into a shadow on the floor, and the room lost its unnatural darkness. The teenagers that had been playing with the board shot up and asked what was going on. Jin appeared by Injun who was going over to talk to the younger teens, telling them never to delve into such things again. They promised never to and returned home. While a victory usually made Injun feel like he had dome something right, this one was strange. No demon had ever escaped from the battle before, and he didn't even know they could.

Injun had a feeling that Five wasn't finished yet.

Chapter 25: Wow, i am surprised. I thought the Light Prince will be Jay. And I don't blame Jin. It reminds me of an anime I watched 'Amnesia' .and Jin is the boy who caused the threatening for the girl... So jin did for Pooh Bear. He wantd to help but he was making fuss and mess around..so he was mostly like a double agent and oduble-faced...
That role to Light Prince, suit for Karam perfectly though. Karam is such an Angel, really . World Bless for Having somebody like him!!
But my question is: Did you finish it because of what happens to The Boss now or Did you plan to finish it in this way?

Oh! since the truth was revealed inJoon's mom seems to be ..normal? I am nto sure if that word is the correct to describe her current self probably not. But oh well, she finally brought herself to speak normally and InJoon knew from her who he really is, and well I wonder: not that i liked what i watched while being forced but the devils are torturing peoople ,without letting them survive, also if they hurt them physically. How comes i nstory you wrote Injoon's mother suffered to thepoint she beared InJoon in herself and was able to give him birth afetr all ,and also how she exist? That is soemthing, well mayeb not really unexpected to ask but i am just curious, since as I said, on the documentary movies was clearly showed what happens so yeah... you get it?
