Chapter 13: Her Story

Ahri felt her whole body go numb. She didn’t know whether she should be scared nor angry at the moment. All she knew was the a mixed feelings of longing, resentment and hurt had made her muscles tense, a headache soon protruding, and her jaw starting to tighten up as she clenched her teeth together. It had a matter of self-doubt as well. She didn’t know how to weigh in her feelings – if she was really hurt and angry at the sight of Kris in front of her eyes. It was as if she thought of how she wasn’t good enough, that everything changed.

Although there were three people in front of her, her eyes were fixated on one particular individual. Kris. During those three years, she had never been this close to him like before. It had been a long time indeed, and when she thought that she was finally moving on with her new friends, she thought wrong, for her body, mind and soul had still reacted at the mere sight of the other. She wanted to talk to him, to laugh with him, and basically do everything they had done together, but she wouldn’t – rather she couldn’t. At the same time, the past had been haunting her ever since. Memories flashed through her mind and the second after, her eyes were filled with rage. Anger was boiling inside her, but she won't let it out. As much as possible, she wanted to avoid him. She didn't want issues to rise up anymore, so she had decided to hide herself with a facade using her pokerface, staring at him.

Kris, on the other hand, was just standing there, staring at her as well. He was shocked of course, but he didn't say anything. The cute guy, whom Ahri didn’t know, was just standing there looking very confused as the girl who opened the door wasn't letting them in. His head went back and forth from her to Kris, wondering why they were staring at each other. Tao, however, cleared his throat, which gained back Ahri's attention, thankfully.

"Hi, Ri. How are you?" Tao greeted awkwardly.

Ahri didn't reply as she was still staring at Kris, though Tao did successfully gain her attention.

Meanwhile, inside the apartment, Chanyeol thought that Ahri was taking a long time answering the door, so he went there. He saw Ahri staring and peaked at who it was.

"Yah! Tao and Sehun! What took you so lo--" Chanyeol cut his sentence midway when he noticed that it was not only Tao and Sehun at the door. A man was with them. Her sister though, was still standing still, her hands clenched into tight fists making her knuckles white. Chanyeol's eyes were fixed on Kris and immediately glared with him. Soon enough, they were both glaring at each other, creating tension at the moment. Chanyeol was glaring because of what the latter had done to his sister, which he had lately discovered, whilst Kris was glaring back at him, simply because he didn’t want to back down. After all, all of his friends had suddenly turned around at him, and he knew that they were disappointed because of the fight. He was the first one to punch Chanyeol after all.

"O-kay... What's going on here? Chanyeol hyung?" The cute guy asked, the tension killing him – not literally, of course. “Can you please tell me what’s going on now? I’m really lost,” he prodded, his face contorted with confusion.

Chanyeol glared at him, "Oh Sehun! Before you shut the hell up, tell me why you’re with this scumbag!"

Sehun flinched from Chanyeol’s voice that held authority, something that rarely emerge. It was really rare that the happy virus was angry, but when he was, the members knew better than to mess with him. "Hyung, I-I'm S-sorry, but T-tao and I met him at the b-bubble tea shop, and he told us he wanted to come and t-talk to you personally, so we agreed," he stuttered, his eyes fixated downwards.

The rest of EXO piled out the door when they heard Chanyeol's angry voice. They saw Kris standing outside and almost immediately, all of them stiffened. They knew that a fight would soon break off if they didn’t do something, seeing as how the air was thick around them. They, too, were shocked like the others, as Chanyeol rarely get mad, and immediately felt pity for Sehun at getting reprimanded at.

Luhan went to Sehun's side and put his arm in his shoulders for comfort. Sehun was clearly close to tears. "Park Chanyeol, stop yelling at Sehun. Can't you see he's confused and scared as hell?"
