Is Your Heart Not Shaken?

Is Your Heart Not Shaken?

What should I wear? What should I wear? What should I wear! In all my seventeen years of living I had never been so nervous just to study. I looked at my disheveled reflection, hair messy, clothes crumbled, face flushed. I looked like I just finished a marathon. Breathe in breathe out. Even as I was telling ,myself this my heart was still racing, but despite that I got myself together, and finally got dressed, and with one final glance at the mirror I was out the door.

When I was leaving I noticed my house was empty, as was the norm for a Monday afternoon, seeing as both of my parents worked. My father being the owner of a small pharmaceutical company, and my mother owning a book store, it would be weird if they were home.

As I reached the Michaels door I rubbed my sweaty palms on my jeans before ringing the bell, waiting for someone to answer, and just like the first time it was opened by the stunning beauty, Sabrine.

She flashed me a bright smile, and invited me in, I looked around but didn’t see her parents, but I heard loud noises from one of the rooms. As we sat in the living room, her on the couch and me on the chair across from her, I looked at her; I made animated gestures toward the door and my ear, hoping she’d understand. Instead she pulled out her cell phone, at first I thought she was ignoring me, until she handed the phone to me. There I saw she had downloaded a translation app.

Its construction, my room is being finished.” Is what was translated to me, I nodded and handed her phone back to her, and once again she spoke into it and handed it to me.

Download this app then we will be able to communicate.” I looked at the apps name and quickly pulled out my phone to download the app. I flashed my screen at her, to show her I downloaded it.

“Give me your number, there’s an instant chat feature on here.” After exchanging numbers, I got a message from her

I’ll save you as Sagittarius twin, okay.” I looked up at her smiling face and couldn’t help but smile back.

So I thought we could start with the alphabet, and its pronunciation.” She looked up from her phone waiting for me to reply, that’s right we’re supposed to be studying.

I customized a notebook for you.” She handed me the notebook, and painted on the front was a night forest and hanging above it was a huge full moon that seemed to be glowing.

If you don’t like it I could make a different one.” I hurriedly shook my head.

I like it very much, I appreciate it very much.” I wonder if her face hurts from smiling so much, was the thought I had when she smiled at me again.

Hand me your notebook and I’ll hand you mine, and write out the alphabet.” We swapped notebooks and I noticed she had a black swirled print painted on the tan background. When we were finished we switched again.

We’ll start with English first. I want you to pronounce each letter as best as you can.” I nodded and began with my terrible pronunciation of the English alphabet. Even though I was clearly terrible at it she still praised me.

You did great, you just need more practice. Now I’ll read them out loud so you can hear how they’re supposed to sound.” I nodded in confirmation and she began. I took note of how moved, but got slightly distracted by her lips.

Okay now try again.” I nodded and began, sounding much better than my first attempt.

See, that sounded great. Now I want you to write each letter as you say it.” Once again I did as she told me. Once I finished I handed my note book to her to inspect.

You have very pretty handwriting.” I blushed at her compliment thankful that she was still looking over my work.

I wanted to start of simple so how about you just keep practicing this until next week?” I nodded in agreement.

Now I’m going to read out the alphabet for you, I’ll start with the aspirated consonants then the aspirated ones okay.” She looked up at me and nodded. I picked up her notebook where I had separated the alphabet by consonants and vowels, as I began I noticed she would repeat after me under her breath.

Okay now you try.” Her pronunciation was actually pretty terrible, but it was adorable watching her try so hard.

That was a good start, but your pronunciation needs some work.” So like that we spent the next hour with her practicing her pronunciation.

How was that?” She asked after her attempt.

It was perfect.” We shared a smile, before we were interrupted by a large foreign man coming from Sabrine’s room.  They held a conversation in English before he left the house.

Is it done?” she picked up her phone and nodded at me.

“Partly, I still have to paint it, but when you come back next week you’ll be able to see it.” I looked up happy that she wanted me back. Since our lesson for the day was done, I was going to invite her for something to eat but her phone rang.

Thank you very much jin I really appreciate your help. I have to get ready to go out so I’ll see you next week?” I nodded slightly disappointed.

I’ll text you okay.” I walked to the door with one last glance at Sabrine and let myself out. As I made my way back to my house I couldn’t help but hope that the call wasn’t from the man I saw her kissing the other day.
