Dongwoon was born to a poor family, his umma died from a illness when he was younger and his appa abandoned him when he was just six years old. The poor boy began to wonder around the heartless city he lived in. One day when he was wondering around in the rain looking for a place to stay, he came across and old mansion which held unknown secrets. He walked closer and closer to the building as thunder sounded and lighting struck, but as he got to the door, he felt someone watching him so he stayed still in the pooring rain, which ended up giving him a cold, causing him to get a fever and to pass out.

When he wakes up, he is in a small house on the outskirts of town. He wakes up to a figure hovering above him. This figure is a vampire named Yoseob, he continueously claims, "My master told me to watch you." He is then brought up by Yoseob who doesn't age.

Dongwoon despises school due to the bullies he has to put up with. He also hates it because this school is teaching bad things about vampires and are teaching a class literally called "How to Protect Yourself From a Vampire." They are misleading the students about vampires and it annoys him.

They talk about how the war that was currently going on was begun by the vampires, when Dongwoon knows it's actually the humans fault since they were corrupted and some how started to corrupt some of the vampires, who then started a civil war between vampires, then the humans joined in too causing what he called World War III.

Any way, Dongwoon is constantly under the watch of Yoseob and Hyunseung (who are under their "Master's" order to protect him) until he turns 17 and a "bond" is formed between Dongwoon and Doojoon, the king of vampires.

Dongwoon is valuable to all vampires out there due to his sweet and clean blood, which is hard to find in the world today, so many vampires will and have come after him.
