HolloW Chapter: 19 Exact
We sat in the hospital room. Just the two of us for the longest time. Nothing said at all witch was kinda weird. I honestly thought about asking him, but I don’t know if I’m ready to hear his decision. But what are we going to do if he does keep coming back I don’t know if I can take seeing him get beat up like this again…
“Moka. Is everything ok?” I hear him say. I look up and say,
“Yeah everything is fine.”
“You know you’re a terrible liar right?”
“Yeah…”
“Then why won’t you tell me what’s bothering you?”
“Because...”
“Because? Don’t give me that bull. Just tell me.”
“What are we going to do if your dad comes back?”
He just looks back in my eyes looking for a reason for my sudden question.
“Well… I’m not sure, but I’m not going to let him hurt me again that for sure. Next time I’ll clock him in the face and see how he likes it.” He says.
“That’s not the point you idiot!” I say burying my face in the sheets.
RUKI POV
What is her problem? I’m so confused. I know she’s not telling me everything.
“Moka…”
“I don’t want you to get hurt again…” I can hear her muffled tears.
“He’s not going to hurt me again.” I say her head.
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because, if he ever tries to hurt me or anyone I care about, I guarantee you that it won’t be pretty.”
She pulls her head up and looks at me.
“Now stop crying over such stupid things. Your, making you make up run.” I say smiling. She wipes her face and pulls herself up to sit by my bed side. It wasn’t long till Shinji comes in.
“Moka.” He says poking his head in the door.
“Yeah?”
“Come here, dad wants to talk to you for a second.”
“dad’s here?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m coming.” She says.
“I’ll be back in a second ok?”
“Ok.”
MOKA POV
I walk out of his room and outside to see my dad standing there.
“What the hell happened?”
“Well, in the short version, he got a little beat up.”
“I see that…”
“Sorry we didn’t tell you where we went.”
“It’s fine.”
“Shinji said his father did this to him?”
“yeah…”
“Well you tell him he’s more than welcome to stay with us if he wants.”
“I will.” I say. Then I walk back into Ruki’s room.
RUKI POV
I see Moka come back in the room so I sit up but wince in pain from putting pressure on my bad arm.
“You could have stayed down you know?” she says.
“Yeah right…” I respond.
“You know, my dad said you can stay with us if you want?”
“I think about ok?”
“Ok.” Just then a doctor walks in.
“Mr. Matsumoto, we meant to ask you earlier how you received such injuries?” he says.
“Well, you see his-” Moka begins, but I quickly cut her off.
“I was in a really bad fight with some thugs. She was going to say that my friends tries to stop them, but they were really strong.”
“I see, you better be more careful from now on.” He says.
“I will sir.” I say then the doctor leaves the room.
Moka shoots me a look and sits by my side.
“Why didn’t you tell him the truth?”
“Because Moka…”
“Why?”
“Because, if they know about what really happened, about my parents, they’ll call child services and I’ll be shipped off god knows where.”
“But, they-”
“But nothing Moka, don’t tell anyone.”
“Fine…”
“Look I’m sorry, I just don’t wanna leave you ok?” I say pulling her on to my lap.
“I know…” I kiss her cheek and lean my head on her shoulder.
“So, you get discharged tomorrow?”
“Yeah. Should we go out and celebrate?”
“Yeah… that sounds nice…”
it’s a terrible feeling, but I can’t shake that something’s still up. It’s not about my parents, but something just is unsettling. My head is spinning thinking what could be going on?
