the start of something new
Friends Forevermorning came. the peaceful sunlight shone in through the windows. the typhoon and the tremors have stopped. there're damage done on the infrastructures but there were no human casualties.
"niichan~ oneesan~ ohayou" the little girl shake Ryosuke and Umika who were deep asleep, with Umika lying on Ryosuke's chest like a pillow.
Ryosuke woke up first and noticed Umika lying on him.
he ran her fingers on the side of her face. "Ryosuke?" she was woken up by his touch and Ryosuke immediately pull his hand away.
"ohayou" he helped her sit up and they were both glad that everything is over.
"Kumiko!!!" a couple ran forward and hugged the little girl, and both Umika and Ryosuke know at once that it's a family reunion.
"Niichan and Oneesan took care of me yesterday" she pointed and her parents expressed their gratitude in tears.
"thank you so much for taking care of her. really... how can we ever repay you" they cried.
"it's okay. in times of trouble, we can only count on each other right" Ryosuke answered.
"that's right. if only all youngsters understood this logic" Kumiko's father replied.
"oh, aren't you from Johnny's?" her mother sudden realization made Ryosuke remember that he's in public.
"ah yes. I'm yamada Ryosuke from Hey! Say! JUMP. she's my friend Umika. please don't tell others I'm here." he begged and the parents promised not to.
"you're a nice kid. your kind heart will bring you a long way. we'll watch over you... and your friend" the parents gave them a final bow before leaving the temporary shelter.
"Niichan, Oneesan, bye bye" Kumiko waved to Ryosuke and Umika and they both felt fuzzy by her cuteness.
"isn't she cute?" Ryosuke said, but Umika was so distracted by many thoughts running through her mind that she didnt respond.
he came to look for me, in the middle of such a chaotic situation. he stayed with me when I needed him. I don't wanna go back the way it is before yesterday. If I don't do anything about this, I'll lose him again. and I think I finally understand who he is to me -
both of them walked silently until they reached the crossroad where they should part ways to their individual houses
"go home and rest. I told your mom that you're fine when I found you yesterday. next time, don't be so silly as to run out at a time like this, somemore without your hand phone! Baka, bye!" Ryosuke turned around and walked towards his house. he could not bear to look at her for another second cause he's afraid he couldn't hold on to his heart. he's afraid he will wanna interact with her more, and then will find it hard to keep a distance again.
"Ryosuke!" suddenly she attacked him from the back and violently pushed him into the side alley.
"wah, Umika! w-what is it?! don't scare me like that."she pinned him on the wall by his shoulders, leaving him only a small distance between them.
"Listen Yamada Ryosuke! I don't care what you think but I'm gonna tell you how I feel! you're someone so important to me that I can't afford to lose... you're much more than what I thought. when you are down, i just feel like rushing to you and comforting you. when i'm sad, the first person i wanna see is you. when anyone hurts me, you're the first to stand up for me. when i'm happy, you're the first person i wanna share my happiness with. i didn't know it before but I was really furious when you tried to matchmake me. i was angered not because you were a busybody. i was angry because I thought you are gonna leave me in someone else's care. when we had cold war over the question you asked about Mirai, i was angry because... because i was jealous of her! she gets to be your girlfriend, but i'm forever stuck as your best friend. the kisses we shared may be just a stupid game requirement, and the night stay in school may not be anything to you, but it's everything to me. those kisses are driving me insane, day and night! you're everything that I care about. I know what I want now. it's not your friendship, it's your love!!!!!" as soon as she finished her mouthful of words which left Ryosuke speechless, she leaned forward and pressed her lips on his.
"Umika~" Ryosuke tried to push her away, but she forced her way through his lips as though she turned into a wild animal hunting her prey. she entwined her fingers with his and made sure he has no escape.
Ryosuke stopped struggling and they both lowered their bodies without moving apart from each other.
Their arms wrapped around each other and the kiss turned wet. Ryosuke is , disregarding the fact that they were outside. He moved from her lips to her neck and started kissing her, leaving love bites on the way. He desired to move further down but Umika stopped him. She cooled down and gave him a strong hug instead.
Ryosuke wrapped his arms around hers and buried his head on her shoulder.
"Umika~ I wanted to keep a distance because I was afraid I couldn't restrain myself from wanting to be intimate with you. I felt that I'm losing control of myself literally. everytime I see you with other guys, I feel so furious. all those things you said just now, is exactly how I feel. more than that, I thought I'm gonna throw myself at you half the time. the closer you are with me, the more I desire to pull you to my side. i don't wanna be the hurting you or this trust between us. ...the truth is I love you. I don't know since when, but I love you."
"Ryosuke~ I love you too" He was shocked at the confession that he pulled himself apart and looked into her eyes.
"it's gonna be difficult. me as a celebrity. it'll be worst than the time my fans bullied you because you were my best friend. that's why I hold back. I don't wanna see you get hurt."
"this is hurting me more. nothing is worst than losing you!"
"but if one day things doesn't work out, we may never return to how close we were before we dated."
"have you ever thought that maybe, right from the start, we never saw each other as friends... but much more than that?" her question struck him so much that he silently pondered for a while. suddenly he broke out in laughter.
"don't scare me... whats so funny?!" Umika became worried at his sudden eccentric behaviour.
he gave her a soft peck on her lips and exclaimed, "now, that's a load off my shoulder... I don't have to avoid you anymore... on the other hand, I can legitimately hold your hands, and care for you!"
she giggled at his hilarious remark.
"ITAIIIII Umika!!!!!" she suddenly gave him a hard bite on his shoulder, leaving a deep bite mark.
"what's that for? are you insane?"
"that's for saying goodbye and leaving me at the playground that day! if you do that again, I'll bite your arms!" Ryosuke rubbed his shoulder and pouted, but later they both smiled in relief that everything is finally working out for them.

Ryosuke brought her home first but both of them were greeted by a series of attacks.
"You run away in such dangerous situation and without your handphone?!!! YOU MADE US WORRIED SICK!"
"okasannnnn nooooooo! itaiiiiiiiii otousannnnnnnn!!!!! Gomenasai!!!!!!!!" Ryosuke stood one side as he watches her parents chasing her around with a bamboo stick. he giggled initially but after a few painful screams from his now-girlfriend, he decided to interfere.
"Chotto matte.... stop..." he stood in front of Umika, blocking her from the attack. but he never expected the bamboo to hit him .
"Ahhhh Itai!"
"Gomenasai Yamada-kun, why did you stand in between. you know the bamboo has no eyes" her father apologised while Ryosuke rubbed his chest where the bamboo landed.
"Ryosuke~" Umika was on the verge of crying to see him do that for her, just like old times. but this time, things are slightly different because he's her boyfriend. Ryosuke gave her a smile and continued what he had to say to her parents.
"Umika ran out of house for me. so I'm really sorry for all the trouble and causing the unnecessary panic. if it's anyone's fault, it's mine. "
"you don't have to do this, dear. Umika has faults too. she's reckless"
"she's reckless because of me. we both love each other. I love her alot. so I hope you could allow me to protect her."
her parents look stunned at Ryosuke's statement.
"b-but you're a celebrity. Umika is just an average girl"
"I know.but she's not average in my eyes. she's really someone I wanted to protect and love from day 1. and I promise you, my job will not interrupt her life."
Umika was touched by his words. Ryosuke held her hands throughout the conversation and she felt the warmth from him radiating to her skin.
"we never doubted your love and concern for Umika. both of us and your parents were even wondering how long is it gonna take before you two realised your true feelings."
"heh?" both Ryosuke and Umika were confused by my mother's last statement but we decided to probe no further.
She brought him to her room, which is all too familiar. he sat on her bed while she tried to his top.
"what are you doing?" ryosuke was taken aback by her action.
"what do you think i'm doing? checking your wounds out. my dad is very forceful just now. it definitely left some reddened lines. if you're gonna have some topless photoshoots, you are gonna get questioned."
Ryosuke obediently sat still as she ed him. he tried to suppress his lust as her fingers ran wildly on his chest, as she applied the medicine. Ryosuke gulped his saliva to ease the tension.
"so you do look at those topless photos of us huh" Ryosuke teased.
"who said so. I didnt" Ryosuke noticed her avoiding his eyes and blushing like a tomato.
"really??? maybe it's not the whole group.. maybe you were just staring at me right" he pinned her on the bed with his bare chest pressing right above her body, causing her to blush even more. She didnt dare to move, all she did was look at him, as if fantasizing. She was mesmerized by his good-looking features and was happy that he is now her boyfriend.
Ryosuke laughed and pulled her up. "well, your face tells me that what I said is right" he continued to tease as he buttoned back his top.
"y-you are such a jerk!" she slapped him on his back, causing him a let out a scream. but they ended with laughters and smiles that warm their hearts.
