Yamada Enterprise is one of Japan's biggest and strongest management of all supermarkets in the country, supplying the populace with necesssities and beyond for generations to come. Run by Yamada Residences, the notable billionaire in the country, the supermarkets have thrived well with great consumer satisfaction. However, as in every rich family that thirst for power and fame, there are scandals that the family feared will disgrace them. One of which was their youngest son of the two, Yamada Ryosuke. Yamada Ryosuke is the illegitimate son of Yamada Kyoshi and his secretary Nakamura Maiko who later committed suicide due to the distress from the Yamada Residences and the public. Yamada Kyoshi was then a married man to Yumi Kota and has a child Yamada Yuma who was 2 years older than Yamada Ryosuke. Ryosuke's birth caused disgrace to the family and regardless how they tried to prevent the secret about his birth from leaking, the paparazzi still uncovered the scandal, and the gossips carried on every since. Yamada Kyoshi never formally acknowledged the truth of it, but his policies and actions were a clear indication to the whole of Japan.

Ryosuke was treated as an outcast, and was never given the respect of a Yamada. He was popularly known to be the modern Cinderella. While his brother is suited up everyday and sat in the highest floor of the Yamada Enterprise building, served by a butler and his personal secretary, Ryosuke worked out of the airconditioned building and into the hot sun as a labourer, a delivery courier and many other physically daunting tasks.

Amid all the unhappiness, he never whined because he has the good things to celebrate over. One is his childhood friend Yamamoto Maika who grew up with him and Yamada Yuma. Yamamoto Maika is the only child of the Yamamoto Enterprise which is the closest competitor of the Yamada Enterprise. The three shared the affinity despite the many business conflicts between the 2 companies. The trio used to spend time together until they got older and the defining line became clearer regarding their status and their position. Maika drifted away from Yuma as she loathed the political and business agenda Yuma was infatuated with, but got closer to Ryosuke. There was unspoken affection tangling the three and a twist of events changed it all.

Maika married Yuma in the name of a political and business arrangement and that marked the beginning of a heartwrenching, dangerous story of two starcrossed lovers who struggled to protect what they believed in and a forbidden love that will never be recognised in the eyes of others.
