Joon

Finito (maybe Reposts and Continuations on on tumblr!!)

EunGyul bursts into our room out of breath. “They found Rachel!” he huffs, hair all wild. My eyes go wide. “They found her?” I begin relieved, I was sure she was gone forever.  EunGyul nods, “Minji caught her sneaking off to Seoul to see Alex.” My stomach turns and I feel like I want to throw up. “What’s she doing with him?” I manage to choke out. “Again.” EunGyul dismisses my comment.  Minji called Chief and he told her to follow them to Busan.” He continues. I stand up to face him. “Busan? Why are they coming here?!” I almost shout. “Joon, that’s not the problem! Chiefs planning to meet them before they hit Busan! You know how he feels about Alex, what if he kills him?” EunGyul asks worriedly. I rub my temples and pace around the room. What was Rachel thinking! Why couldn’t she just stay in Seoul in the first place? Everything is ruined; on top of that, she’s with…him. Just the thought made me sick to my stomach all over again. “What is he going to do to her?” I ask without thinking. I immediately regret it once it comes out. EunGyul looks at me in complete shock. “Is that really what you’re worried about right now? Rachel? Joon, we’re finished! All he needs now is Jisoo and we’re back at square one! I’m not ready to go back to that life!” he shouts. “Aaagh, I don’t know! I don’t freaking know anything anymore!” I snap. I was confused about everything, I couldn’t continue trying to bring Chief down, too much was at stake. I collapse back onto the bed, EunGyul just watching with his arms crossed. “Rachel isn’t your only problem anymore; you’ve got your family to worry about now. Last time I checked your brothers are far more important than some girl, no matter how much you’ve come to hating one of them.” Eungyul reminds me. “We’ve been in this together for a long time; we’ll get out of this together too, alright? If Rachel doesn’t want to be a part of that, she doesn’t have to be.” “How do you know she doesn’t want to be? Why are you so quick to rule her out of the equation?” I challenge. EunGyul sits down beside me with a sigh. “Actually, I know she does…she…” EunGyul pauses but it’s too late for him to hold back now. “What? Did she say something to you?” I ask him. He looks as if he doesn’t want to tell me or if he wasn’t sure if he should. “EunGyul I swear to god, if there’s something you aren’t telling me…” “I did talk to her…she thinks we’re planning something so she went to warn Alex, but apparently that took a turn for the worse, and he’s doing the exact opposite of what she wanted him to do. When I spoke to her a few days ago she apologized for her outburst and though she’s suspicious of us, she knows we aren’t horrible people and that there’s probably reasoning behind all of this, but she still doesn’t want to take her chances.” EunGyul explains. I furrow my eyebrow, “EunGyul what are you saying?” I ask, clearly confused. “She thinks that you, and I, are helping Chief find your brothers to bring them back to this hellhole for whatever reason! She went to warn Alex, and now they’re headed right into Chief’s trap.” He clarifies. “Yeah, I got that part! But, what are you trying to tell me about Rachel?” I ask him. EunGyul rolls his eyes. “Less important, but isn’t it obvious? She’s trying to convince herself that she’s wrong about you and trying to see reasoning behind your actions.” He says. “Which means…..?” I begin, urging him to continue. “She still has feelings for you idiot!!!” EunGyul snaps, annoyed by my ignorance. A sudden warmth spreads all over my body, until the thought of Alex comes up again. “But why does she always run to him instead of asking me directly?” I ask. “Not important! We have more urgent matters at hand!” EunGyul reminds me. Right, Chief. “We have to meet them before Chief does.” I tell him. “Yeah? And how exactly do you suggest we do that? He’s already hours ahead of us!” EunGyul points out. I pull my phone out of my jacket pocket and shake it in his face. “You can use your transportation connections, I’m sure we can hold him up somehow. We’ve done it plenty of times before.” I remind him. “I’m not even sure if my connections still stand, my parents are dead, remember? All of my connections were linked to them.” I don’t respond for a bit. I knew the death of his parents was a touchy subject for him, and I wasn’t even considering his feelings the entire time we’ve been here. His father was killed because of Chief and his mother died here as well. Alex, Jisoo and I are pretty much all he has, which is why he was so set on escaping this place in the beginning. “EunGyul…I’m sorry…I didn’t even-” “Let’s drop it okay? Think about what’s important.” he concludes. I just look at him, my best friend who never confided in me about the death of his parents. I only knew what he accused me of in high school, when he shot me, but I understood him. I was the only one he told about his plans to escape but somehow Chief found out. He tried to kill them both by sending a guy in an eighteen wheeler to smash into their car but, EunGyul got away somehow. However, when he came back his resentment turned towards me. I shake the past from my mind, and place my hand on his shoulder, gripping it tightly. I wanted to say something about his parents but I knew I shouldn’t. I’d just wait until he’s ready to let it all out and if he’s never ready, I’d understand that too. So instead I ask, “What do you think we should do?”

Chapter 22: This is really good. Even though it still has the mystery of why each character is connected it's easy to follow.
