What comes afterward

The party was over.

Everybody had gone to their room. Only Tao had remained in his wushu practice room when everything had been cleaned up.

The young man couldn’t help but fear. He feared not to be strong and brave enough. Since the time he had understood his feelings for HyeMin he couldn’t help but think over and over about the last time he had fallen in love. He didn’t want to feel the pain he had felt once. It seemed to him that it was so long ago… His heart that used to be broken in a million of pieces was together again and never felt so alive.

He extended a shaky hand toward his phone.

He had to do this. If he didn’t do that now he would never do it. It was now or never.

He used to pretend to be a loner but he had never felt lonely in reality. I liked to be alone. But since HyeMin had appeared in his life he couldn’t help but feel lonely when she wasn’t there. Most of the time they didn’t talk that much he just loved to feel her presence beside him.

He loved hearing her melodious voice when he asked her a question.

He loved to feel her touch when he felt down and she just put her hand on his shoulder.

He loved her.

HyeMin couldn’t sleep.

Everybody was in their bed since they had finished cleaning everything and she could hear Ara and Yina’s regular breath showing that they were asleep.

But she couldn’t sleep. Not when she thought of Tao. He had seemed nervous and fidgety all day long… And this really intrigued the girl. She knew it was all a facade but he usually did put off with pretending to be cool and alright even if it wasn’t so…

Her phone vibrated on her bedside table making her slightly jump of surprise.

What could it be? Who could it be? She had a lot of texts during the day and she couldn’t think of anyone who could have forgotten about her birthday until now. Opening the text she read what was written.

From: TaoPanda

Could you come to my practice room? I still haven’t given your birthday present…

The girl was surprised… She had thought that the party was her gift from Tao… But it apparently wasn’t. She was curious about it so she went out of the room, still in her panda nightgown which was the girl’s gift…

She went up silently. She didn’t want any of the guys to come when she would be with the person she loved. They used to joke about something that did hurt her: they used to tell them they were a couple when she perfectly knew he didn’t share her love…

She knocked on the door and snacked in.

The light were off, Tao had lit scented candles all over the room. He knew she loved candles…

“You came…”

She slightly jumped when she saw how near he was from her.

“Yes I did… I will never say no to a gift and you know that…”

Tao smiled of that wonderful smile that always made her heart flutter.

“I know… But I fear you may not like my gift… Even though it’s a gift coming from my heart…”

The butterflies in her stomach went crazy as he came even nearer.

“I… I’m sure I’ll like it. Whatever it is…”

“Then… Here you go.”

He extended his arm. On his hand there was a little box of a pocket book size.

“What is it?”

“You’ll have to open it to know that...”

Smiling, the girl pulled on the ribbon.

In the box there were about twenty puzzle pieces.

“Are you gifting me a puzzle? Like… For real?”

“I am. And you have to do it now”

She giggled and began to look at the pieces.

“It seems quite easy…”

Sitting on the floor she began to do it, looking at Tao from time to time. When she had finished she showed it to Tao. It represented the place on the beach where they first met.

“Thank you Panda. It really means something to me…”

“You’re welcome Minnie… I need you to listen to me because it’s not all of it..”

“I’m all ears…”

“Once upon a time, there was a lonely boy who felt in love with his best friend. But you already know this part of the story so let me do a fast forward… As he cried over this girl on the beach, a stranger began to speak with him. He firstly felt somehow irritated because he loved being alone and everything but then this stranger began to make him laugh. Maybe she wasn’t that bad to talk with after all… So he talked with her and they gradually became friends. Day by day the boy discovered the numerous qualities of the girl and day by day he became less lonely and more opened to the world without necessarily losing his identity…”

Tao took a deep breath. It was the moment.

The moment he had waited for too long. The moment he had feared for too long. The moment he had dreamt for too long.

Taking a deep breath he grabbed HyeMin’s soft hands and he looked into her eyes.

“And the boy who had his heart numb felt it again. The boy who had felt his heart being broken in a million pieces felt them reunited again. She had taken each and every piece and made the puzzle of his heart.”

“Tao…”

“Please let me finish… You know I am the boy… And I’m facing the wonderful girl who had helped me be myself again. I know I shouldn’t hope for much but it is time for me to be frank with you…”

“T…Tao?”

“I love you Minnie. I love you so much more than just as a friend. I love you like I’ve never loved anyone before. Will you be my girlfriend?”

HyeMin couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t help but cry. And as she saw a panicked look on Tao’s face she understood what he felt. He thought she didn’t like him back when it was quite the opposite. Reaching for him she cuddled him while crying for the first time in front of him.

“I will. I love you too. I love you so much.”

Tao slightly went backward and took her face in his hands.

And as they looked into each other eyes they saw everything they had hoped to see.

They could see sincerity.

And they could see an unlimited shared love.

The end...!

Well... It maybe the end of "Puzzle of my heart" but it's only the beginning of HyeMin and Tao's relationship since they will definitely be featured on my other stories of the wolf serie!!!!
