25 – PLAN B

Writer’s POV

It’s now between Saturday and Sunday. The air is unexpectedly cold. The night seems darker than usual. The stars are unseen. The place where Donghae is waiting is so quiet. The Seoul Tower is a crowded place even at night but apparently it is not tonight. There’s no one there beside Lee Donghae. Yeah, he is such a young guy who has enough money to rent that place.

He is waiting there. He is standing in front of a square table. There are four guns on that table. Two of them are disassembled though and this is the game Donghae has prepared.

Both of his hands are in the front pockets of his dark blue jeans. He is a wearing a black leather jacket. He is wearing his round glasses. He doesn’t smoke but he brings a pack of cigarette in case he is boring to wait. It looks like he will learn how to smoke on the spot.

However, when he hears a sound of a car, Dconghae concludes that the cigarette is useless so he throws it away.

Eunhyuk is now walking to where Donghae is waiting for him. He is going upstairs. The road to the place where Eunhyuk will meet Donghae is surrounded by many big trees. It’s a big and refreshing garden and from here they can see the glamorous city of Seoul that sparkles at midnight with colorful lights.

Eunhyuk finally reaches the big flate venue and in the middle of this field, Donghae and the table are already waiting.

Their eyes meet and Donghae starts a conversation.

“So, where is Yoona?”

“She’s safe. I have sent her home.”

“Really?” Donghae shows his doubt when Eunhyuk is finally in front of him. They are facing each other and are separated by the table.

“You don’t trust me anymore?” Eunhyuk answers with a question.

“Look who is talking about trust here. I think we have left it in our own home Hyukkie. We are coming here without trust, aren’t we?!”

“Well, just call her then if you want to know.” Eunhyuk realizes that Donghae was actually right.

“I don’t want to waste my time actually. For your information, I don’t really care about her anymore now. She’s in love with you and I think I can’t win her heart. I have given up about her. It’s shocking me when I know you kidnapped her. Where is your brain? How can you drag her into our problems?”

“…”

Eunhyuk can’t reply. He feels guilty and he receives the blame willingly.

“You are just hurting her.”

“…”

Again, Eunhyuk is speechless. He is mastering this skill actually. He really knows now how to be quiet.

“If you miss her that bad… just go and see her… don’t use our problems as a reason!”

“ENOUGH!”

Eunhyuk finally speaks. He cuts Donghae.

“Enough is enough, Hae. Besides, why are you coming here then if you don’t think and care about her?”

“It’s for you. I’m doing this for your sake idiot. I’m saving her because I know you love her.”

Donghae answers really fast as if he has waited for that question to appear.

These two don’t really notice that they are being observed by Yoona right now. She hides behind one of the big tress around that field. She is trying to get as close as possible so she can hear their conversation. She moves carefully so she won’t make any sound. She’s now close enough to hear what Eunhyuk and Donghae are talking about.

“And how can I believe your words then? We forget to bring our trust, don’t we, Hae?”

Eunhyuk counters back and Donghae knows that it’s pointless to talk about this matter anymore.

“Neh… indeed Hyukkie. Let’s start our own game right now then, shall we?”

Eunhyuk stares at Donghae.

“First of all, let me ask you something… Have you ever used a gun before Eunhyuk-sshi?”

Eunhyuk doesn’t react. He is confused actually. He’s afraid to answer because he never used it before. Last time in the restaurant, he only wanted to threaten Donghae. Yoona hears that name and she is confused now.

“Eunhyuk-sshi?” She ponders.

“Seems like you never neh?! I can judge that actually because your hand was shivering when holding a gun in that restaurant of yours, keke.”

Donghae chuckles at the end of his sentence and it feels like they are only joking around there. Yoona remains clueless.

“Now that because I’m a kind person, I’ll teach you how to use a gun and shoot accurately. Do you bring your gun?” Donghae asks.

“I don’t. You told me that I don’t need to bring a gun.” Eunhyuk innocently replies.

“Huhhhh…” Donghae sighs and continues. “Hyukkie, how can you be that stupid. If it’s not me, those other secret agents may have easily killed you.”

“But I… I…”

“You what? Don’t tell me that… you trust me??? Hahahaha.” Donghae laughs and Eunhyuk can only hold his anger.

“Well… this time you can trust me though. I lend you mine.” Donghae tells Eunhyuk and he takes one of the guns from the table.

“Take that one.” Donghae gestures Eunhyuk to take another one from the table.

“Now, I’ll teach you and I hope you can learn it fast.” Donghae prepares his gun. He inserts one bullet and offers three bullets to Eunhyuk.

“I’ll give you three chances to practice.”

Eunhyuk takes the three bullets and inserts them into his own handgun. Now, Donghae turns his body to the right.

“Can you see those four bowling pins?”

“Eh…” Eunhyuk answers calmly.

Meanwhile, Yoona is totally confused. “What are they doing?” is what continuously striking her mind.

“They are your targets Hyukkie.”

Donghae shoots and he shoots one of the pins.

“DORRR!”

Yoona gasps. She is really shocked to hear the shot.

“It’s for real. They are not playing around. But… what’s wrong? What happens?” Yoona asks herself.

One of the pin is blown away. It is thrown away backward. Eunhyuk is also startled.

“Now your turn.” Donghae orders Eunhyuk and Eunhyuk nods. Inside his heart, Donghae pities Eunhyuk, the ever smiling and innocent guy. Why should Eunhyuk be Lee Byunghun’s son? This question always bothers Donghae because he thinks that Eunhyuk is not suitable with that dark world.

And now, seeing how pure and innocent that guy, Donghae can only be grateful that it is him who received the task to kill Eunhyuk. If it’s not him that Eunhyuk must have died now. Think about it, which mafia will likely to learn about how to shoot with someone who is ordered to kill him?! It’s ridiculous but Donghae knows his bestfriend will follow his instructions, if they are still bestfriends though.

“Movie makes it looks simple. To shoot is not a simple thing. You should consider many factors like the wind, your adrenaline, and your target, whether it’s moving or not.”

Donghae starts explain like a teacher. He is giggling in sadness to know that he is teaching Eunhyuk how to kill.

“First, about the grip… don’t shiver Hyukkie! That’s the rule. Make sure there’s no air between your hand and the gun. Your grip is already good but it’s not that firm. Hold it firmly or you may hurt your own fingers.”

Eunhyuk does what he is told. He holds up the gun and grasps it firmly. He is very determined. He doesn’t realize that it’s just a temporary excitement.

“Your position and posture should be stable. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart.”

Eunhyuk does again what Donghae tells him. Yoona is anticipating what is going to happen.

“Should I go there and ask them directly?” She is asking another question again.

“Now, are you confident with double vision? If not, then aim the pin with your dominant eye.”

Eunhyuk closes his left eye. He aims with his right eye.

“We should cover our ears actually. Sorry because I forget to tell you but don’t worry, I’ll put these earplugs for you. I’m trained already so I don’t need them.” Donghae stands at Eunhyuk’s back and put the earplugs into Eunhyuk’s ears.

Eunhyuk doesn’t feel any threats. He feels safe actually. He can’t believe this of course but he is doing this after all. He can feel the excitement and he slightly forgets about the main objective of tonight’s meeting.

“Now… if you have perfectly locked your aim… take a deep breath Hyukkie.”

Eunhyuk takes a deep breath.

“Slowly exhales half of your breath…”

Eunhyuk does what he is told again.

“Pull the trigger at constant rate… just pull it calmly… and keep going…”

“DORRR!!!”

And Eunhyuk makes his first shot ever. He hits the pin but no one smiles because of that achievement. No one celebrates of course.

“Now, practice by yourself and after that we’ll start our game.”

Eunhyuk nods and Donghae moves back to the other side of the table. Eunhyuk doesn’t miss the other two pins. He throws them down perfectly. Eunhyuk is really a fast-learner. Knowing that his practice session ends, Eunhyuk comes back to the table and faces Donghae.

“Now what Hae?” Eunhyuk asks as if he is ready for the real game.

“Now, let’s battle it up. Throw that gun that you are holding.”

Eunhyuk throws that gun obediently.

“You know how to assemble a gun, don’t you?!” Donghae asks and Eunhyuk nods.

“I know it.” Yes, Eunhyuk knows how to assemble a gun but the problem is, Donghae is really fast when comes to this thing. There’s no way Eunhyuk will win.

“This is my challenge. Let’s assemble this gun, load the bullet, and kill each other. There will be only one bullet on the table in the middle so the faster one will win.”

Eunhyuk contemplates. He knows he is not that fast to assemble a gun.

“Why? Are you afraid?”

“No.. I’m not!!!” Eunhyuk immediately answers. He somehow hates it when Donghae looks down at him.

“So…? Are we playing or not?” Donghae raises his eyebrow.

“Deal. Let’s play.” Eunhyuk stares at Donghae. He stares deeply. Eunhyuk can see sadness in Donghae’s eyes while Donghae can see nervousness in Eunhyuk’s eyes. Eunhyuk takes out the earplugs.

“On three Lee Eunhyuk-sshi…” Donghae tells him and it is loud enough for Yoona to hear and Yoona realizes something. She has heard that name before.

“Lee Eunhyuk-sshi? Where did I read this name before?” Yoona asks herself again. A new question comes out again when she still can’t answer the previous questions. She can answer all the questions in her exam but sometimes, there are questions Yoona can’t answer.

“1…”

“2…”

Donghae is very calm actually. To tell you the truth, he has planned everything and thus far, his plan is executed perfectly. It’s his second plan actually. He has another plan if Yoona comes along but then Yoona is safe already so he executes his plan B.

On the other hand, Eunhyuk is getting nervous and nervous.

“3!”

Donghae finishes counting and Eunhyuk moves like thunder. Eunhyuk assembles the gun’s parts nervously. His hands are shaking while doing this. He sometimes drops the part and then takes it again and drops it again. He is really taking too long. He is too concentrating on what he does that he fails to notice how Donghae is doing.

Donghae is very well-trained and in only several seconds, he almost finishes.

“I’m not going to lose.” Eunhyuk thinks.

“I can’t lose.” Eunhyuk mumbles.

“I don’t wanna lose this time.”

“I really don’t want to lose again.”

“Not when I go against him.” Eunhyuk cheers himself. He is still shaking and he still hasn’t done.

“I’m almost done.” He whispers to himself.

Eunhyuk once again is too absorbed by the situation and his own determination that he can’t see that Donghae has finished assembling his gun.

One strange thing here… Donghae doesn’t take the bullet.

He is waiting for Eunhyuk instead.

He does this purposely.

And this is his plan actually. He has planned to give up and let himself killed.

He smiles in pain when he sees how busy Eunhyuk is when the latter assembling his gun. He is amused to see that bestfriend of his striving for something.

Yoona observes every thing. Nothing passes from her eyes and ears. She has moved closer once again and she can see everything clearer now. She really doesn’t have any idea. She’s so confused and shocked at the same time. She really wants to go there and stop that crazy thing she has ever witnessed but she knows she can’t stop it now. Somehow, she feels like she should wait because at the very end… she feels like Donghae and Eunhyuk won’t kill each other.

Amidst those thoughts, Yoona breaks her thought to remember who Lee Eunhyuk is and she is almost there.

“I read it on the newspaper a week ago. Neh… I saw the name in the newspaper last week.” She thinks.

Eunhyuk finally finishes assembling his gun and he stupidly thinks that he has won the battle when he saw the bullet is still there. Without even glancing to Donghae who is waiting for him, Eunhyuk snatches the one and only bullet and loads it into his handgun and once he finishes everything, he holds up the gun in front of Donghae’s chest. Donghae pretends to be startled and Donghae intentionally drops his gun.

Donghae has been waiting for this moment actually but he never knows that he can be scared too.

“It is Lee Byunghun’s son’s name right?!” At the same time, Yoona has remembered who Lee Eunhyuk is and she can only cry when everything becomes clearer. She can’t believe that Lee Hyukjae that she knows is actually Lee Eunhyuk, son of the country’s number one villain.

Eunhyuk is sweating a lot. Tonight is very cold but he is sweating like crazy. He is nervous. He is scared as well. He is panting even without running. It’s obvious that he is mentally pressured and tired.

His hand is still shaking.

His tears are already there, not falling yet.

The gun has touched Donghae’s jacket.

“I… I win…” Eunhyuk speaks.

“Neh, you win Hyukkie… just do it and remember, don’t breathe when you pull the trigger.” Donghae stares at Eunhyuk to find that the tears have slowly fallen from Eunhyuk’s eyes.

“Close your eyes if you’re scared.” But Eunhyuk seems more nervous than ever so Donghae provokes him.

“I killed your father. I killed him without mercy. Come on, kill me now. You have the chance!”

Donghae tells Eunhyuk but the one who is going crazier is Yoona. She gasps. She still decides not to show up but she can’t take it anymore. It’s too overwhelming in a bad way. She goes beyond shocked. And as if she isn’t satisfied with crying the whole day, she starts crying there.

“Tell me Hae…” Eunhyuk speaks.

“Tell me… If I kill you now, will my dad be happy? Will he be proud of me?” Eunhyuk sobs.

“I actually never really know my own dad so I’m asking myself whether I should take revenge or not. I rarely saw him. We never talked like a family. He never asked my grades…” Eunhyuk sobs heavily.

“He also never visited me when I was hospitalized. He was there when it was breakfast but he never asked what I was going to do that day. He never showed up at dinner. He never told me a story before I went to sleep.”

Donghae holds his tears but every word from Eunhyuk slices his heart too. His bestfriend have gone through such hardships in his life yet he never noticed.

“When I cried… he never coaxed me… He hit me instead, telling me that I should be stronger.”

“Yet you are a crybaby even now neh???” Donghae teases.

“SHUT THE ING UP HAE!!!” Eunhyuk shouts and he inhales. He is still sobbing. He wipes his tears with his free hand but they never stop falling.

“Just tell me now, will he… will he love me as his son if I kill you?”

“Yes he will. He must be proud if you kill me. He must be happy and can rest peacefully. And he will love you for killing me, Hyukkie.” Donghae answers convincingly. Donghae puts his right hand on the gun that is held by Eunhyuk and directs the gun to where his heart is.

“This is my heart. Once you shoot it, I’ll die for sure.” Donghae says but Eunhyuk ignores him.

“Why??? Why don’t you say the opposite?” Eunhyuk asks again.

“Because I know you’ll be weak. Yah, no matter what… he is still your father.” is what Donghae says before being cut right away by Eunhyuk.

“SO IS THIS MY SIN TO BECOME HIS SON?!!!” Eunhyuk shouts again between crying.

“NOOOO!!!”

This time it’s not Donghae who replies. The two guys are surprised and they are immediately looking for the source until Yoona comes out from where she hides. Donghae turns his head to the left and Eunhyuk turns his head to the right to see Yoona. Slowly, the gun that is held by Eunhyuk up high is going down.

“Yoong…” Donghae mutters but Eunhyuk goes speechless.

Yoona just stands there, few metres away from Eunhyuk and Donghae.

“It’s not a sin to be his son oppa…” Yoona exclaims and it is loud enough for them to hear.

“I really don’t understand what you are talking about but…” Yoona pauses to wipe her own tears.

“But to be Lee Byunghun’s son is not a sin oppa… not when you are so different…”

Hearing that sentence, Eunhyuk can only continue cry while Donghae remains silent.

“If you never killed someone or did any crimes your father did then isn’t it logic that you’re different?” Yoona speaks again.

“You are not him oppa. You are not Lee Byunghun. You are his son and that’s why you can change. You aren’t forced to take the same path. It’s your life so you are the one choosing it.” But of course Yoona fails to understand how Eunhyuk feels when he figured out that Donghae is the one killing his father.

And seems like Donghae’s plan B is messed up right now.

“Yoongie-ah… I kill his father so it’s his job to take revenge, don’t you think?!” Donghae says that, preparing himself to go back to plan A. He takes a gun from his jeans’ back pocket, a small one but his hand remains there on his back pocket to hide the gun.

“It’s not his job! It’s police’s and laws’ job sunbae.” Yoona rebels.

“You can never rely on them Yoong…”

“But…”

“ENOUGH!!!” Eunhyuk cuts Yoona and silence comes.

“I said enough…” Eunhyuk kneels down and he drops his gun.

“I know that from the beginning, I can’t never kill you Hae. I seriously can’t.” Eunhyuk starts crying again.

“I knew it I can’t kill you no matter how hard I try.”

“But you almost there before.” Donghae speaks and thinks about how he’ll make Yoona coming to them. His plan A is using Yoona to make Eunhyuk killing him. He’ll pretend to kill Yoona to force Eunhyuk to kill him. That’s his plan A but unfortunately, Yoona doesn’t move a bit.

Eunhyuk doesn’t respond to Donghae’s latest sentence. He just keeps crying while Yoona only stares at both of them, crying with herself.

Donghae is about to move to where Yoona is when a stranger wearing a suit appears silently like a ghost from Yoona’s back and points a gun at Yoona’s back head.

“Be quiet good girl” The stranger says and Yoona, Donghae, and Eunhyuk can hear some footsteps coming from the stairs.

“Good night everyone.” A voice can be heard.

Eunhyuk and Donghae are shocked to see who is coming from the stairs. They slightly forget that Yoona is being threatened.

“Hyung…” Eunhyuk calls his hyung.

“Hangeng-hyung…” Eunhyuk calls again.

“Hyung??? You know him?” Donghae asks Eunhyuk who stands up again now. Amazingly, Eunhyuk stops crying already because the newly tensed situation.

“Hyung, release her! She doesn’t have anything to do with this and didn’t I tell you not to come here?” Eunhyuk completely ignores Donghae.

“Yah! I’m asking you… do you know him?” Donghae exclaims this time.

“Yes, he is my hyung, Hae. He is my dad’s most-believed member. He is his right hand. But don’t worry… he’ll listen to what I’m going to say.” Eunhyuk explains hurriedly.

“I don’t think that’s the case Hyukkie because he is a liar.” Donghae gives a suspicious expression to Hangeng.

“Eh?? What are you talking about? You don’t even know him!” Eunhyuk defends Hangeng.

Donghae wants to explain but Hangeng is faster.

“Unfortunately Hyuk, your friend was right.”

“Ehhh??!!! Hyung… what do you mean? I don’t get it.” Eunhyuk demands explanation while Donghae is busy thinking about a strategy to escape safely from this situation.

“To be honest Hyuk… I’m the one who orders your friend this whole time. I’m his boss. I have waited for you to kill each other but it seems like both of you can't do that. I lose my patient so yeah... I decide to come out eventually.” Hangeng steps forward and stands beside Yoona.

“My boss? I think you’re only my messenger.” Donghae responds.

“Hahahahaha… you are too naive Lee Donghae-sshi for believing that I’m from government… how can you be that stupid? Anger and hatred in your heart used to take over you I guess then. I’m so lucky I can utilize you to do my job, hahahaha.”

“Damn!!!” Donghae curses inside his heart. He can’t believe that he is being deceived this whole time. He can’t believe that because of his unstable emotions in the past he easily is used by Hangeng. However, he kicks away those thoughts because right now, it is more important to save Eunhyuk and Yoona.

“Wait… hyung… I still don’t understand it. Explain to me.” Eunhyuk really still doesn’t understand.

“You still call him hyung, Hyukkie?!” Donghae mocks.

“Isn’t it clear that he is the one ordering me to kill your father and you?!” Donghae delivers the sentence as if he is now free from the blame. However, he knows he isn’t free because it’s his fault to be deceived in the first place.

“But…” Eunhyuk still can’t believe. “But waeyooo? Why hyung? You are my only family right now? Why are you doing this? Hyung, tell me it’s a joke.”

“Hyuk, if you want to know, then ask your father in the hell about how he tortured and killed my parents and my sister in the past. I’m taking my revenge and shouldn’t you take yours now? I didn’t kill your father… it’s your friend who did that.” Hangeng smirks.

Eunhyuk feels the pain inside his heart are doubled, even tripled right now. He can’t take it anymore. It’s too painful and sudden for him. Hangeng, the only person whom he really trusts and considers as his family has betrayed him.

At that time, Donghae finally gets an idea. He puts down his small gun back into his jeans’ back pocket.

“I get it now.”

All of the eyes are gazing at Donghae now as he speaks. There are 6 pairs of eyes staring at him. There are Eunhyuk, Yoona, Hangeng, and three other mafias.

“You’ll kill all of us right?!” Donghae asks Hangeng.

Hangeng nods and adds “I think so.”

“Looks like I should give up then.” Donghae starts another plan B.

“What do you mean?” Eunhyuk is the one being curious.

“We can’t escape Hyukkie so I’ll let you kill me now. It is what you want right? We kill each other and you kill the rests.” Donghae gives a deep glare at Hangeng.

“Absolutely.” Hangeng shortly replies.

Eunhyuk still doesn’t fully recover from his shock. He is still unstable. He is only hearing the conversation but he can’t really think about what’s going on now. He is going crazy. His feelings are mixed up.

“Would you let me say my last words then?”

“Well, I don’t give a damn to your last words actually but to think that you have been very meritorious for me for these few years, I think I’ll give you some seconds.”

Right after that Donghae starts and doesn’t waste any time. He quickly moves his eyes to Yoona. Their eyes meet and Donghae smiles.

“Four twice then four thrice then eight…” He pauses a bit. “Then four twice again then four thrice then seven four times…” Donghae continues with “Three thrice then six thrice then six thrice again then eight…” All of them are confused while Yoona thinks inside her head. Her face shows a confused expression but it is a fake expression. Being this genius one, she quickly understands that it is a code. She cultivates the code right now inside her brain.

Donghae proceeds with “Now nine then four thrice then eight then four twice…” and with “Last are nine thrice then six thrice then eight twice then seven thrice and then seven four times.”

“I’m done.” He tells everyone and he waits for confirmation from Yoona.

“Are you really done? What a weird last words.” Hangeng asks and Donghae and Yoona relieve that he doesn’t realize. Eunhyuk is still confused.

Then Yoona makes a little nod and Donghae shouts suddenly before Hangeng orders s to kill one of them.

“NOW YOONGGG!!!”

And Yoona hits that man’s foot with hers, that man who points a gun at her head, causing him to lose his concentration and balance and give another chance for Yoona to kick him. That time Donghae already takes his small gun and shoots that man and he dies there.

“HIDE YOONGGG!!!” Donghae shouts again and Yoona runs from there. She is fast enough and by the cover from Donghae’s shots, Yoona can hide away from the mafias.

“Hyukkie… I’ll cover you… run with Yoona.” Donghae tells Eunhyuk while using the table as his cover after flipping it down on the ground.

Eunhyuk looks confused and Donghae yells at him.

“NOWWWWWW!!!”

And Eunhyuk quickly runs to where Yoona is. A shot after shot are fired but Donghae misses to shoot Hangeng. It’s quite lucky for Donghae and Eunhyuk that Hangeng and his two subordinates miss their targets as well.

Eunhyuk is finally there with Yoona.

“RUN HYUKKIE!!!” Donghae shouts again and in the same time, he succeeds at killing another mafia. But it’s not Hangeng. And once again, it’s much because of lucky that Hangeng doesn’t bring many members with him.

“Does he underestimate his own pupil?” Donghae asks himself.

“He is so wrong!” Donghae continues and shoots again and he gets that third mafia killed.

Eunhyuk is holding Yoona’s hand and they are running away from that field. Hangeng is now after them. And Dongahe makes his move too. Hangeng and Donghae, both of their guns are running out of bullets and before Hangeng realizes it, Donghae is already in front of him, blocking his way to chase Eunhyuk and Yoona.

And bare hand fight can’t be avoided anymore.

Hmm, sorry for my grammatical errors and typos in advance. T.T And yeah, a lot of things should be explained in YoonHaeHyuk's story before I move to KyuTaeFanyWon and YulSic... and tadaaa... Hangeng is indeed the director! You aren't surprised right because I believe most of you have guessed it before.
