So It Begins

Don't Let Me Dance Alone (My Dancing Boy Sequel)

As Niel patiently waited for an answer, Rachel fought with herself as to whether he was ready to know yet.

Seoul walked out of the classroom. “Yah! You guys coming in or not? The bell’s about to ring,”

Rachel breathed a quiet sigh of relief, and made a mental note to thank Seoul sometime later.
“Coming,” she said, walking towards the room. She took Niel’s hand on the way, taking him along with her.
“Rachel, you don't have to hold my hand,” Niel mumbled.
“If I leave you, you’re going to stand out here until the end of the day. Come on,” Rachel smiled lightly as they walked into the classroom.

Rachel’s heart ached, and her desire to hit herself increased as she continued to deceive Niel.

They all took a seat, and the teacher stood from his desk.
“Alright, I'm going to do the roll,” he said, picking up his pencil. As the class waited, the teacher frowned to himself as he peeled the sticky note off the roll.
“Lee Seoul, Choi Mizuki, are you present?” he called, looking towards the class.

Rachel twitched for a second as the teacher mentioned Mizuki’s last name, and she remembered a distant conversation they had about last names a couple nights ago.
“Rachel, you’re going to freak out when I tell you this,” Mizuki said.
“What?” Rachel replied.
“I have the same last name as Changjo, so there might be a high chance that we’re related.”
Rachel’s eyes widened. “NEH?!”
“Calm down! It’s just a possibility, but since Choi is one of the popular last names in Korea, it’s nothing to worry about. Sorry about not telling you earlier.”
“You should ask your parents!” Rachel laughed.
“I might do that.”

Seoul and Mizuki raised their hands, confusion on their faces. “Yes, Seonsaengnim?” Seoul asked.
“Turns out you two will be moving to the class down the hall.”
Rachel turned to look at them, the same looks on their faces.
“That’s Jonghyun’s class.” Rachel mouthed to her friends.
Seoul tried to keep her delight contained. “Do we move to this class now Seonsaengnim?”
The teacher nodded. “Yes. It was a pleasure having you though.”

Mizuki and Seoul started to pack their books, nodded thanks, and walked out of the classroom.

As the week resumed, a few changes occurred. Teen Top got new hairstyles, and the girls couldn't visit because of their comeback preparations. But as the week progressed, Seoul and Mizuki’s plan continued to go the way it was supposed to.

Seoul sat next to Ginger, writing notes on her book from the board.
“Hey, Ginger,” Seoul began.
“Yes?” she replied, glancing at Changjo for a second before looking at Seoul.
“How long have you known Changjo?”
“Since we were kids.”
“Did you used to go to school together?”
“Yeah, right up to elementary. Then I had to move, because I managed to become a child actress.”
“You’re going to be in the drama at the end of the month, aren’t you?” Seoul continued to write notes.
Ginger nodded, taking another look at Changjo and his new rustic blonde hair. “Yeah, but we’re still filming.”
“How did you get into the acting business though?” Seoul caught Mizuki’s eye, and Mizuki nodded, starting a conversation with Changjo.

Mizuki punched Changjo’s shoulder lightly. “Yah, dedicated to work much?”
Changjo shrugged. “I usually do my work, but since you’re he–ow!” Changjo rubbed his shoulder as Mizuki punched him.
“Not funny Changjo.”
“Mianhae.”
“So, you and Ginger?”
“There’s nothing about me and Ginger. She’s just an old friend.”
“But you care about her right?”
“I’ve taken care of her since we were little. It’s my responsibility,” Changjo scribbled on the paper of his notebook.
“What about Rachel?”
“She’s just as important.”
“...if they were both in a fire who would you save?”
Changjo frowned, and continued to scribble. “Are you trying to find out who I care about more or something?”
“Depends. I just want to know, that’s all.”
“I would save both if I could...”
“Well that doesn’t help.”
“Help what?”
“Nothing. I like your hair.” Mizuki pointed.
Changjo ruffled it self-consciously. “I don’t know if Rachel will like it…” he whispered.
“She will...So Ginger is just a friend?”
“I don’t think of her that way, I don’t think I would be able to. My parents worked for hers, we really just had a business relationship. I just had the responsibility of taking care of her. We’re close, but not as close as I am to Rachel.”
Mizuki smiled to herself, but she knew Changjo still had a connection to Ginger. “Alright.”

Seoul continued to listen to Ginger speak, writing more notes. Ginger sighed to herself as she finished her sentence, and Seoul looked at her.
“Is that what you really think of Changjo?” Seoul asked absently.
“I’ve harboured a certain like for him I guess. Maybe its because he took care of me all those years, I just want that experience again. Look at him though,” Ginger moved her head to look at Changjo once more, her lips showing a small smile.
“Yeah, im looking at him,” Seoul replied with a small laugh.
“He’s famous now. It’s like we’re both meant to be, you know?” Ginger grinned, and Seoul tried to hide the urge to gag.

“Aish, we got a lot of work to do if Ginger thinks of Changjo that way”, Seoul thought to herself.

***

Rachel and Niel sat in their classroom, bored to death from their teachers’ lecture about politics.
“Honestly, if I hear ‘satisfactory’ one more time,” Niel rolled his eyes.
Rachel laughed quietly, and nodded. “I know how you feel,” she replied.
“Do you?” Niel looked at her.
“Niel, Changjo’s my friend.”
“And I’m your boyfriend, right?”
“When was the last time we went on a date, Ahn Daniel?”
Niel pursed his lips, silent.
“That’s what I thought,” Rachel replied with a simple smile.
Niel couldn't help but smile back. He knew he was an idiot for questioning her. As soon as the conversation ended, Niel began to rack his brain, thinking of places to take Rachel for their next date.

Rachel on the other hand, was trying hard to think of a way to break the news to him. How was she going to do it? When?

And most of all, was Changjo going to be there when she would tell him?

“Hold on a minute, isn’t Changjo going to tell him!? Knowing him, he’ll probably say it with no type of sympathy..But, are we supposed to be sympathetic?” Rachel ruffled her hair as she continued to think.

Niel watched her from his seat. “What is she thinking?”
