“Are you sure you’re able to go to school today? It won’t hurt if you stay another day.” Mrs. Yoon tried convincing. Seoyeon shook her head. “Missing one day was already enough. I can’t miss another day or I’ll be behind.” “Seoyeon-ah, you know very well that you could never be behind on assignments. Your father and I could hire private tutors for you.”

Seoyeon sighed. There it goes again. Hiring private tutors, getting private lessons, blah blah blah.

“Mother, you know how I’m not very fond of you and father hiring private tutors. You guys don’t need to spend money on things that I could learn at school. That’s what schools are for, to teach.” Seoyeon explained. “I know, but it won’t hurt hiring a tutor from time to time. I think times like this are when you need a tutor. You don’t look so well.” Mrs. Yoon defended.

Seoyeon shook her head, “I’m not staying home or having a private tutor. I’m going to school.” Mrs. Yoon sighed defeated, “You won’t change your mind?” “Mother.” “Alright, I get it. I just wish that you’d stay home for another day so that I know you’re healthy again.” “Mother, I am healthy. You called Doctor Min yesterday and he said I was fine. There’s nothing to worry about.”

Mrs. Yoon her daughter’s hair. “You’re growing up into such an independent woman.” Seoyeon softened at her mother’s words, “Mother.” Mrs. Yoon gave her a sincere smile, “But no matter what, Seoyeon-ah, you will always be my little girl.” Seoyeon nodded with a soft smile, “I know.”

“So I’m sensing that Seoyeon’s going to school?” Mr. Yoon came into the living room. Mrs. Yoon and Seoyeon looked up. “Yes, I tried convincing her but she won’t stay.” Mrs. Yoon sighed. Mr. Yoon chuckled, “I think she’ll be fine. Doctor Min said there was nothing wrong with her, so we don’t need to worry about her.” Seoyeon smiled at her father.  

“Unnie!” Sohee ran into the living room. Seoyeon and their parents turned to look at Sohee, who ran up to Seoyeon and threw her arms around her older sister’s waist.
