Encounter
Cheonsa
Haneul was ecstatic. Having slept in, she awoke to an empty house, save for L sitting jadedly in the living room. He was presumably the one left to watch her for the day once again, as he seemed to volunteer for the chore quite often, although today was no ordinary day. Oh no, today was very special. Today, Haneul would go outside.
L took her into the city, and they were on their way to meet up with the rest of Infinite at Mithra's gym—it was time Haneul learned what it was that Infinite did, that Infinite were fighters. It was Sungkyu's idea, really. He was worried about how Haneul perceived them ever since she had asked him about gangs. He figured it would be better to have an honest start, and let Haneul make her own decisions about Infinite from there.
It was her first time venturing outside of Infinite's small rooftop apartment, and she eagerly took in all the sights and sounds. The neighborhood Infinite lived in wasn't the nicest area, but further into the city brought busy streets with colorful shops and bustling crowds, chattering voices and honking horns, an urban symphony that never faded.
Humans were fascinating. Seeing them in their natural environment was exciting, and around every corner was a new distraction to pull Haneul's attention. Like a child, L had to hold onto her hand just so that he wouldn't lose her. He had to scold her every so often not to wander away, but through their clasped hands he could feel her genuine wonder and excitement, and it brought a slight smile to his lips.
They made their way through the crowded streets, passing by many different food stalls and stands packed with merchandise. L casually grabbed an apple off of a produce display as he passed it, not even glancing over to see if the seller was paying attention. Haneul noticed what he did, but didn't say anything since she obviously didn't know any better. She didn't understand that it was wrong; the word 'steal' was not part of her vocabulary.
Reaching out, Haneul grabbed an apple as well, happily following behind L as she looked around, admiring the sights and scenery of the busy market. L stared at the apple in Haneul's hand with a frown, realizing what just happened, then took it away from her.
"You shouldn't just take things like that," he said, putting both of the apples back on the display without the owner noticing. It might have made him feel hypocritical, but he had suddenly become all too aware of the bad influence Infinite must ha
