The time of the cat and mouse game arrived, Rain was getting dressed for his big moment while I stood on the sidelines with Monique who was getting her microphone. There was a large number of fan girls all looked to be above twenty one so I guessed that there was an age limit, shame to those who would be likely to scream their hearts out and this was with sarcasm.

“We will be sitting at that table in the far corner,” the sergeant pointed to the one three tables away from where Curtis Patrick and his goons were sitting. I nodded.

“Ok, no problem,” I spotted some security guards by the stage; Rain was going to be safe. I saw him and the backup dancers in the dark stand by the stage while Mr. Francisco introduced him.

“Ladies and gentleman it is my great privilege to introduce you to our opening act for tonight’s staff show case, Mr. Bi Rain.” People clapped while fan girls (and some fan boys) screamed. Rain glanced in my direction and I gave him a thumb up. His reply was pressing his fingers against his lips and then blowing me his kiss. A fan girl’ scream rose and I flushed before I joined the sergeant and the cop who had the headphones in and a tape recorder place on the table. Two other policemen stood nearby, their hands at their hips where their guns were.

Rain came into the spotlight and spoke to them, “thank you, enjoy.” He turned around and the music started. The fan girls screamed as the lights moved on to the dancers. My attention was diverted to the sergeant as the one listening in said, “it’s commencing now.” Kingsley kept his eye on Monique as she took the order for Curtis Patrick, I watched Rain flaunt his stuff, with a rather pretty back up dancer. I swallowed, trying to not be jealous.

“And she’s returned,” we both watched as they were served by Bunny. The policeman listening pressed record on the player. For about ten minutes it seemed that Bunny flirted shamelessly with Curtis Patrick while he drank and looked content. I kept my eyes on that table while fan chants and background music plus Rain’s vocals were booming.

I bit my lips; Curtis Patrick wrapped an arm around Bunny’s waist. Bunny said something while curling hair around her finger and the policeman listening spoke aloud.

“He’s going for the bait,” I held my breath while Bunny kept talking calmly, the mouse seemed to squirm.

“And we got it,” the cop turned to Sergeant Kingsley. He started to remove the headphones.

“Wait a minute,” Kingsley stopped him, I watched as Bunny suddenly jumped away, Curtis Patrick yelling at him.

“Bunny,” I whimpered helplessly. Then he pulled something from his jacket pocket.

“He’s got a gun!” Kingsley called sending the two cops standing near us to him. The fans and the rest of the crowd gasped as the attention was driven towards the scene. In horror I saw the gun pointing at Bunny and then he aimed at the stage and fired.

“GET DOWN!” Security guards ran over to Patrick Curtis and his goons who were getting their weapons out too. I ran towards the stage where the shot had been aimed at. My heart was racing faster than I was moving; as I came closer I saw the dancers and some of the crew surrounding someone. I started to panic.

“Please don’t let it be Rain,” I said biting back my fearful tears as I reached them.

(Yes it was short but I had to give you a nice cliffhanger. I think the next chapter might be the last :( but we will see.)
