Chapter Sixty Four

Misunderstood, The

Tao awoke with a start, nervousness crawling around his neckline and a warm pressure around his bare waist. It was a sudden jolt in his mind racing fast, breath stealing – had his body jerking awake quickly with his hand on his chest vainly trying to slow his beating heart.   That dream – it felt so terribly real. Amber...he could still feel her, even with his eyes open, his mind awake, and that increasing nag forming in the back of his brain that it wasn't quite so much a dream than it was reality. Because that pressure was still around his waist and the dark room he was lying in was not his. Quick flashes of discarding plum colored fabric and anxious, naughty hands traveling along his skin ran through his membrane – healing hands, a feel he could recognize anywhere.   He almost didn't want to turn his head to the left and look at the source admitting those soft, restful breaths.   It could only confirm just one of two things. Either he had a client last night, coupled with a wonderful dream about Amber – that he is not so sure why it's so wonderful – or he had a client last night who was Amber, coupled with a conversation about her impeding feelings that she couldn't let him ignore any longer.   Either way, he thought of Amber, and his mind and body was excited just from the thinking, whether it was real or not.   Truth be told, it didn't make any sense as to why he was stiffly shifting his eyes in said direction trying to get a peek at the creature who had their arm wrapped around him. Even though it was dark in the room, he would still be able to make out some sort of appearance. If he just got enough strength to get up and turn on the lights like he did every other client – if they turned off the lights in the first place – then it wouldn't be so hard. But he knew without an inkling of a doubt that indeed it was Amber's warm body pressed up against his, and her breath curling around his neck.   He didn't want to face her while she was awake, not after last night, not after he nearly pounced on the chance to have her while she was retching her heart out to him. It was a moment of vulnerability for her and he greedily took advantage of it. But what scared him the most was that he couldn't say he didn't return some form of the feelings she mentioned to him yesterday. There wasn't hardly a day that went by, as of late, where he didn't think of Amber in some form or fashion. Usually it would be a 'what is she doing today' but never a 'I can't wait to touch her' not the way he felt last night and dreadfully, right now.   He groaned, shifting his weight to turn away from her form. The need and even heavier want traveling through his veins embarrassed him even in the dark. She couldn't even make him out clearly if she woke up, but she would be able to make out his outline pretty well. That thought alone caused him to shift onto his side, rather than his back to hide the stiffening of his lower half, and give him a few moments to calm down, to tell himself that he shouldn't use his great imagery to reflect on the things that transpired last night.   Such good memories they would make though.     ~~~~~~~~     It was the crack of dawn in Luhan's world, the sun wasn't yet shining – though he had no windows in his room to really be able to tell – and even if the sun was shining, it was still the crack of dawn to him. The shrilling of the messenger in the sitting room of their suite should not be making so much noise at such an hour. He waited, tossing and turning for someone, anyone to stop the noise so he could sleep a little – much – longer.   He had a pleasantly late night and it warranted the most rest he could receive that morning. To Jongdae it warranted the same, but he was the one to stumble out of his room, mumbling how “you couldn't rely on anyone these days”. Rubbing the cold out of his eyes, he reached for the messenger, looking at the same appointment sent by Lonno for the last fifteen minutes. What it said nearly made Jongdae giddy with useless excitement.   “Luhan!” he called, running back down the hall to said boy's room, who let out the loudest groan once his name was called. “Luhan, oh my God! Luhan, wake up!”   Jongdae felt like a monkey, jumping up and down, bounding onto the bed and shaking Luhan's shoulder shamelessly. The copper haired male was ready to cry as he was pulled from his lying position on his bed, trying his hardest to hide under his covers. He groaned out a whine from the back of his throat, grasping onto his covers desperately, “Jongdae you rodent! If you don't release me!”   “Luhan, Luhan listen!” he panted about to yell the message before Kris interrupted. He had silently snuck into the room, thinking Jongdae was hurting Luhan without a cause and casually lifted the slender boy off of Luhan. He almost let out a girlish scream at suddenly being lifted six feet into the air.   “Jongdae, it's too early to mess with Luhan, please let me rest,” Kris grumbled as if he was sleep walking instead of consciously making decisions that had Jongdae struggling against his hold.   “What's going on?” Yixing stumbled in, shirt missing and barely there pants, hanging low from his hips as if he scarcely managed to struggle into them.    “Jongdae is harassing Luhan,” Kris mumbled, eyes closed and arms tight around Jongdae who was still struggling.   “Am not!” he bellowed, pointing a finger at Luhan who had went back to sleep sitting straight up, with the covers bunched around his neck and head.   Yixing walked further into the room, scratching at the indent of his waist and yawning, “What are you doing then?”   “Did any of you check the messenger?” Jongdae took to yelling, Luhan jolting out of his sleep at the shrill sound. “Luhan, your baby is on the way!”   As soon as those words left the struggling Jongdae's mouth did Luhan bolt from his bed and out of the suite all together, leaving a laxed Jongdae who felt complete, and a fully awoke Kris and Yixing.   “He didn't brush his teeth or wash his face,” Yixing muttered, still scratching at his side.   “He'll be back,” Jongdae chuckled, head lolling onto Kris's shoulder while the older male still held him.   “How do you know?” Kris grumbled, still in shock at the news.   Jongdae leaned back further, looking into Kris intoxicated eyes and snickering, “Because he was .”       ~~~~~~~~       Sehun was waiting nervously outside of the hospital by  the time Luhan arrived – fully dressed – wringing his hands together. As soon as he saw his older brother, he ran to greet him, enveloping the shorter in a tight hug, “it's happening,” he muttered into Luhan's shoulder.   “Isn't it early? Didn't we have another three weeks?” Luhan panted harshly, a mix of nerves and exhaustion from his rush to the hospital.   “The baby wants to come, Luhan,” Sehun nearly whispered in a coaxing way, hands gripping his shoulder in reassurance.   Luhan nodded his head, repeating what Sehun had just told him as the younger led him into the hospital. He was nervous beyond a doubt, but so ready to welcome his baby into the world. It was just yesterday that they - Sehun - had set up the crib into their newly furnished apartment. He was thankful that they got it all done within the weeks they had started to prepare. Little Luhan was coming into the world!   As soon as he saw his parents and her's waiting on the floor, anxious faces anticipating anything during child birth, did he feel a sense of calm come over him. He was the father of the child, it was his job to be just that and show his strength.    “Luhan you made it, thank goodness! She is in there! She wants you in there with her,” his mother spoke, gripping her son in a hug and pushing him to the doors where a nurse was waiting.   So many thoughts were running through his head, but the loudest was the sentence Sehun had uttered to him so many months ago, “...I dread the day that baby is born! I dread you holding it for the first time!” It gripped at him like cuffs around his wrist and made him stiff with fear. He didn't want to be that selfish person he knew he could be. He didn't want Sehun to be disappointed with him. He didn't want his son to be disappointed in him.   Luhan stumbled, his nerves gripping at his heart. He took deep breaths to calm down because he couldn't believe in the first place that she wanted him to be the one holding her hand through all of it. Sure they had came to a common ground, but childbirth was so intimate, he didn't want to be an intruder. However, as soon as he entered the room, and saw her sweating, panting, and legs up and separated, his brain clicked over, finally realizing why people say it should be in love that a child is conceived. For the mother of his baby look no different than that heated moment they engaged in the activity that created their infant. Besides her swollen stomach, she was still in a position he was familiar with when it came to her body. A position in which he should have filled her with love, instead of jealousy for his brother, so that now, as she lies in that s
