“Come here,” Soojung says, her voice soft and delicate. She swallows down the lump in and tries her best to hold back her tears as she gazes into his brown orbs that are filled with perplexity and puzzlement.

He obeys her instruction and approaches her slowly with his curious eyes fixed intently on her, and when he’s within an arm’s reach, he lowers his head.

Soojung extends her hand out and reaches for his head. Gently, she pats his head. “Jongin-ah, wait for me,” she chokes out with a smile and watery eyes. “I’ll come back.”

Despite not knowing what is happening, Jongin understands her words. He bobs his head up and down as a response before returning his gaze at her. Seeing a teardrop rolling down her cheek, he lifts his hand to her face and wipes it off.

“Wait for me.”

So he waits.

And waits.

And will continue to wait.
