The Sun Comes Out at Night
Jongkey: Since the Jurassic Period
The song we were dancing to has a simple beat, but the dance itself was complex. By our bajillionth practice, the both of us were either sweating or dying.
“Kibum,” Jonghyun breathed. “Let’s take a break.”
I sat on the ground. “Alright.”
“I’m sure there were vending machines around here.” Jonghyun said, looking around. “I’ll be right back.”
I bent my head down and starting wiping my sweat off with my shirt. I heard footsteps in front of me.
“You’re back al—" I looked up to face a girl I’ve never seen before. Her eyes were small, and she had straight, black hair. She stood in front of me, shyly smiling.
We just stared at each other for a moment. “Uh… H-hello?” I stuttered.
“Hi.” She finally said. “I was watching you two dance from the swings over there. Are you guys trainees?”
“Y-Yeah.” I was a bit nervous since I haven’t spoken to girls in a while. Plus, she was kinda…c-cute.
“Ah, interesting…” she mumbled. I stood up to meet her eye level, slightly wobbling.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
“Uh, yeah…” I replied. “I sprained my ankle five weeks ago, so it’s still kind of sore.”
The girl gasped. “You have a sprained ankle and you’re dancing? That’s pretty impressive.”
My face flushed. Embarrassed, I thanked her.
“What’s your name?” she asked, smiling.
“Oh… Kim Kibum.” I started to wonder why she kept asking me questions.
“Well, Kibum-ah. It was nice meeting you.” She started to turn away, when she said “I’ll give you a good recommendation!”
“O-Okay…!” I waved bye to her while she left.
“Kibum, what are you doing?”
I spun around, almost tripping myself again. Jonghyun stood, holding two juice cans.
“Nothing,” I took a can from him. I cracked it open while Jonghyun pulled out his phone to read a text.
“It’s Taemin.” Jonghyun said. “He wants to know if we want to go karaoke with him and the other two.”
I gulped my juice. “Ah… I’m not really in the mood. Tell him I’ll pass.”
“Alright. Should I take you home then?” he said, chuckling.
I glared at him. “I can get home by myself. See you tomorrow.”
“See you.”
I started to walk off, when I realized something. "What on earth did she mean by recommendation?" I thought. "Oh well."

“What song should I sing?” Taemin scrolled through the songs list, looking for a song of his preference. Onew and Minho were looking through the snacks menu.
“I don’t know,” Onew said. “But look at this! They sell cake here.”
Taemin jumped onto the sofa the other two were sitting on. He peered at the menu. “Do they sell banana milk?”
Minho laughed. “They don’t, actually…”
Taemin pouted once, and stood back up to choose his song. “Not much interesting songs…”
Minho looked up from the menu. “Don’t worry, in a few years, our songs will be on there.”
Taemin’s face lit up. “Ah! That’s right! We should come back here after we become popular.”
“Maybe by then they’ll start selling banana milk.” Onew said.
Just then, Jonghyun waltzed into the room. “Hi guys. Did you start yet?”
Taemin jumped to him. “HYUNG! JUST IN TIME!” he handed Jonghyun a mic. “Please start. I can’t choose a song to begin with.”
Jonghyun blankly held the mic. “Okay…?”
Onew looked up. “Where’s Kibum?”
“Oh, he’s not coming. Not in the mood, I guess?” Jonghyun shrugged.
“That’s good.” Minho stood up and stretched.
Jonghyun looked at Minho. “That’s good?”
“Well, it’d be a pain if he were around…” Minho said. “He’s annoying.”
Jonghyun raised an eyebrow. “What do you mea—"
Taemin ran in-between them, dragging Jonghyun out to the corridor, laughing nervously.
“Hahahahahahahahahahaha…” Taemin shut the door behind him.
“What’s with him?” Jonghyun asked.
Taemin scratched his head. “Dunno, Kibum-hyung and Minho-hyung kinda at each other’s necks right now.”
“What? Why?”
Not knowing what to do, Taemin told him the whole story.
Jonghyun couldn’t believe it. “How come Kibum didn’t tell me any of this?”
Taemin shrugged. “He probably didn’t want you to worry.”
Jonghyun stayed silent for minute. Then he pulled the door open and walked back into the karaoke room.
He stood in front of Minho. “Apologize to Kibum.”
“What?”
“Apologize to him!”
