Sehun POV
 

I kept a smile on my face as I stood with the other members of EXO-K for our interview before our debut stage performance. At least Jongin was next to me. His presence was calming, because he was so calm.

Still, I wish Luhan were here.

The MCs introduced us and we talked a little about ourselves. Then they asked for a sneak preview of the dance for “MAMA.” As planned, Jongin and I made our way to the front and danced for a few seconds while Baekhyun and Kyungsoo nervously sang for us. I was smiling, embarrassed. It’s always feels funny to look into a camera.

When we got back to our places after finishing, the MCs continued to say that we would look at NU’EST. We all pointed together when they said, “Music...Start!”

“EXO, SARANGHAJA!” It’s not the same without EXO-M here too. Luhan, why aren’t you by my side? I need you right now.

The lights faded out and we walked on stage in the darkness, standing in our positions. Then the lights came on a little bit to give a blue-purple glow. “History” started playing. Fans were chanting. Then, as each member sang, they screamed in the beginning of each part.

Hearing the fans chanting parts of the lyrics with us made my heart swell. I’m so glad for our fans. But I focused, not wanting to make any mistakes.

First verse, chorus, second verse, chorus, bridge...

The rap came. My line...my line... I thought in despair. Calm down, Sehun. It’s like, a few words. You’ll be fine. Still, my heartbeat quickened and even after my line had passed and I had done fine, it stayed at that faster rhythm for the rest of the song.

When it ended, we walked off stage and got changed as quickly as we can. Then we walked out again in the darkness and stood in our arrangement for “MAMA.” This is it.

Smoke was crawling on the floor around us, and four spotlights were shining on us, giving it a mysterious effect. The song started.

“Careless, careless, shoot anonymous, anonymous. Heartless, mindless, no one who care about me.”

After Kyungsoo’s line in the beginning, I really focused on the dance part. Suddenly, halfway through, the fans started chanting in unison.

“SUHO, BAEKHYUN, CHANYEOL, D.O., KAI, SEHUN, EXO, HWAITING!”

At my name, my heart skipped a beat. And I was so glad they said “EXO” and not specifically EXO-K. Because we are one.

Their chant gave me energy and my nervousness evaporated. I did my best for the entire song, even during the dance break, putting in two hundred percent. At the end, I was panting and sweating like there was no tomorrow, but it was all worth it. Finally, we have debuted.

“CONGRATULATIONS!!!” we shouted at the same time. Then we all laughed and broke out into applause. We were looking at EXO-M on the computer screen, and they were laughing with us at our unison “congratulations.” It’s like we read their minds. We are one group.

All of us tried talking at once, and it wasn’t working, (curse you, Skype), so we took turns talking.

EXO-M had recorded our broadcast, so they already saw how we did. However, EXO-M’s debut wouldn’t be broadcasted for a few more weeks! I pouted in disappointment. I didn’t want to wait.

We talked for a while before our manager knocked on the door and told us to go to sleep. It was good to hear their voices and see them again. It was better than nothing, but I still wished we could all be together in the same room. There are some things you can’t do over video chat.

I also wanted to say things, but everyone else was talking so enthusiastically, I didn’t have the heart to interrupt them. Maybe I just have a personality that gives in easily... Although I can be firm when I want to. I was just tired. However, I didn’t take my eyes off the screen. More specifically, a certain hyung whom I wish I was with at the moment.

Our manager yelled again, and we heard EXO-M’s manager yell too. We laughed, but reluctantly said goodbye, waving. Neither of us wanted to press the “end call” button.

“At the same time?” Joonmyun proposed.

“Sure,” Kris answered with a sad smile.

“1, 2...3.” He clicked it and their image faded to black. It was silent for a moment before I sighed and the other members got up.

Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I took it out. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that it was from Luhan.

“Why didn’t you say anything? You looked tired. I hope you feel okay, Sehunnie. Congrats again, you did really well!! :) Talk more next time, okay? I want to hear your voice. I miss you a lot. (That’s an understatement.) Goodnight now, sweet dreams. I’m expecting a call tomorrow morning, jerk. <3”

I smiled stupidly at the screen. Funny how one text message can lift your mood completely.

Jongin walked over and put his hand on my shoulder suddenly, making me jump.

“Why were you smiling?” he asked.

“Is it so bad to smile?” I grumbled, brushing off my shoulder.

“Your smiles are rare, so I was just wondering.” He looked at me carefully.

“Your smiles are rarer,” I replied back. He gave a small smile, more like a smirk.

“You’re right. Go to sleep now, okay?” He patted my back and left.

I sighed. How was I going to sleep after such a nerve-wracking day?

I laid down in bed and out immediately.

Tried to put some HunHan action in, but there's not a lot I can do when they're apart T_T

I may not be able to update tomorrow arghhh. But I'll try .__. I'm writing this at 2 am again... :P
