AQUIVER

Jungkook is coming back home with so much uncertainty on his heart. Jieun already told him what he lost after he decided to quit his job and everything.
And that’s a lot, like really a lot.

Money and assets is a definite thing, but he also lost trust from people who supports him all this time, they seem disappointed and that’s harder for him than losing money.

He walks around the house and start cleaning it up to make his mind at ease, he gets inside Yeri’s room and tidying up only to find more trace about her and her pregnancy, another pill, another USG pictures, a print out test of her blood test. It was hidden in a box, deep under her bed..and everything is making him more upsets.

He’s really ruining so many lives, Jooyoung, Chaerin, Yeri,  what happened to him is nothing but a karma from what he did to people before this.

He heard a bell from outside the apartment, he actually thought it was Yeri who’s finally coming back home, but Jooyoung is the one who came inside the house when he opens the door. He heard about him staying in jail for a week or so.

“Yeri?”

“She still needs treatment.”

He told him to sit and offers him a drink but he refused to take it.

“Are you ok?”

Jooyoung is surprised when Jungkook sounds like he cares, asking him about his condition when he’s the one who almost died.

“Jail is never a bad place for people like us.”

“Good. You know that I won't have any privilege like that anymore, right?”

“I heard. Why did you do that? Everyone is upsets”

He watched Jungkook who’s dressing up in an oversized flannel looking so exhausted and stressed, his movement is still awkward because of his shoulder, the wound on his face is not really shown anymore, because it’s been more than ten days since he beats him up like a maniac.

He’s not suitable to become a nobody. Jungkook is always  better than him at whatever he does and for him to give everything up over one bad incident is totally not something he ever expected.

“I’ve been wanting to do that since a long time ago.”

“Did you, really?”

“I know it’s hard for you to trust me, but i already thinking about this since i got married.”

“What do you mean?”

Jungkook is letting out a sigh and he’s staring at him with a smile before he’s shaking his head.

“I’m afraid you’ll get upset again if i told you.”

“No, tell me. I don’t believe that you’re suddenly being nice like this.”

“If you find someone like my wife. There will be times when you think anything else on your life don’t matter.”

What he said doesn’t makes him upset, it makes him hurts. Because that’s exactly what happened to him when he found Chaerin on his life.

“You’ve been married for so many years. It takes you long enough to actually did this.”

“I was a jerk, Yeri wasn’t exactly the kindest person either. We kinda ruined each other life, and i want to stop now. Completely.”

Jooyoung is dumbfounded with his easy confession, seems like both Jungkook and Yeri are perfect for each other more than people think. They have this same mindset and guts to talk and act like this.

“Good for you.”

He decided to leave without further conversation with him. Maybe letting go of Jungkook and all the things he did to him will make his life easier too.

What the hell is this noise..”

Jungkook can’t even sleep well because he needs to be here alone all night, with a wound that still not healing. He slept really late last night, and this morning someone is already making a ruckus around him. He opens his eyes, washing his face and out from his room when the noise heard feels so close.

He almost thinking that it’s a dream when he finds Yeri is standing in the kitchen, preparing food for him. She looks better than the last time they saw each other a week ago.

He’s running to her and give her a hug while slowly lift her tiny body with so much relieve.

Yeri is not expecting this much reaction from Jungkook when she came here earlier this morning but it’s actually nice to see him. Regardless of what she’s going to do..

“When did you get here?”

He finally letting her go, and staring at her face very carefully before asking her a question.

“This morning. I can’t actually go out but I have something to tell you.”

He’s not listening to her because he keeps scanning her face and sometimes her body, to see if something is wrong from the outside. When he’s done he bring her face closer to him for a kiss but she’s avoiding it.

“Let’s talk while you’re eating your breakfast.”

Yeri seems happy but everything feels fake. Jungkook does nothing when she drags his hand and told him to sit at the dining table. He doesn’t let go of her hand even when she’s trying to walk away from him.

“I’ll bring your food.”

“What is it? What kind of talk are you going to do?”

He makes her sit next to him and Yeri knows Jungkook is quick at noticing things, he hates useless prep talk so she decides to pull a paper that she prepared last night to him. He opens it slowly, and his expression is completely hard to read.

“If we keep coming according to the schedule everything will be finished quickly.”

Yeri talks like what she had just done is something that makes sense, he stared at her for a few more times but she looks totally serious about this.

“Why are you giving me this?”

His voice came out weak.

“It’s the only way for us to be happy.”

“It’s not.”

“It is! Didn’t you see how i’m capable to put you in a life threatening situation? You can not just close your eyes about what this marriage had done to us. “

"It was an accident. And I'm sorry for putting you through hell in our marriage but.."

"It wasn't just you. I ruined your life too. This relationship is not healthy, no matter how we see it.."

"I love you."

"It's not just about you and me!"

Yeri is start to breaking down in tears after that short argument, and Jungkook is holding himself for taking things further because he doesn't want her to get hurt even more.

She's screaming at him and that's enough to make him feels like Yeri is already on the edge of her patience. She's done with this.

He gets up without touching his breakfast and get inside his room. Yeri is still watching him in silent till he comes back and give her a familiar box.

She almost forget about it, but seeing it again making her heart feels heavier than before. She's opening the box with shaking hands, and tears won't stop flowing after she realized what she put in that box before this mess.

"You are taking a decision without letting me know what happened. There are two people in this marriage. It's not just about us, that's true, but it's not just about you either. I'm on it too."

"That's why I told you we ruined each other life. I live my life with fear every single day. I don't even know how to take care of a baby or a pregnancy when i have people chasing me because of you. I shouldn't have been scared if you were there for me, but you weren't. I keep reminded to what have you done to me, all the things you said to hurt me, all the things I did to hurt you.."

"Kim Yeri, that's.."

"There are so many things we need to fix. We did try and it was not working. I'm tired of my life and you are forced to give away your life because you thought that i'll be happy when i won't."

Yeri wipes her tears and she's now standing in front of him while giving back the box to him.

"It was short, but thank you for this. And i'm sorry i lost it before you can't even.."

"It was not your fault. I should've been there with you."

"See? We're making so many mistakes and regrets. I don't want to live like this..”

Yeri is picking up the paper Jungkook threw earlier and handling it back to him with a forced smile.

"You always told me that my happiness is your priority, it's the same for me too. I want you to be happy, you deserved it, Jungkook-ssi."

He's staring at her and Yeri can see, his eyes start to get red and teary. It must be upsetting for him that she came like this when the only thing he wants to do is fixing everything.

"Why are you so confident that I'll find happiness when you're not here.."

He's back to his seat and give Yeri a forced laugh while sweeping his hair. He looks so stressed, depressed, sad, and angry.

"I don't. But i know that you gets hurt often when i'm around."

Jungkook is totally loss at words, when Yeri is back to sit next to him and squeezing his hand while giving him a smile.

"Do whatever you wanted to from now on, because I will do the same thing too."

She's continuing her talk and Jungkook can't help but think that maybe he won't be happy but Yeri will. She begs him to let her go, and the only thing he wanted for her is nothing but happiness and a better life than what she had with him.

Quitting his job, and throwing away his life is not the biggest sacrifice he made for Yeri just like how Jieun and Jooyoung thought. Letting her go to the world when he's no longer exist is the bigger and the hardest sacrifice he made for her.

He can't help but cry like a little kid because he was so disappointed that his effort is not working, that Yeri feels her life is better without him. He's also scared about what will happen to him when Yeri is no longer here. She's the only one that makes him sane.

"You will be fine.."

Yeri is giving Jungkook a hug because, this is not easy for her too. Watching him breaking down into tears,  wounded and hurt because of her.

The fact that she gave up on him.

"Can you give me one last chance? I promise.."

"Nothing's gonna change even if we gave each other a thousand chances. I almost went crazy for what I've been through as your wife. We're both tired and hurt."

She talks with so much fear, her eyes are wandering and she seems frustrated for doing this too.

"When someone told me about how bad you treated me. I get convinced so easily, to the point that I'm not sure if I actually love you. I was angry again thinking how many hurtful things you said and you did to me. I can’t forget about any of that. I am tired."

She's covering her face while holding his hands and begging. There is nothing else he can do if Yeri is already on this state. She was hurt, and she was never happy.

"Are you sure you’re going to be ok?”

Yeri can see that Jungkook is slowly giving up on her too. He talks while staring at the paper she gave him.

“I don’t know. But I want to try.”

She watched him crying as he’s letting go of her hands and no matter how hard, she feels her heart is becoming so much lighter. She thought Jungkook will get angry and abusing his power to stop her for doing this, but he didn’t, and she’s extremely thankful.

“Don’t get hurt and..”

She gave him a hug for how thankful she is. Jungkook as a husband is probably lacking on every aspect, but the fact that she could experienced  this life with him, good or bad, lessons she learned, happiness she gained. Everything is meaningful.

“Thank you.”

****

Jaein is letting out a sigh when the whole process is practically done. Jungkook is out from the court without spare him a glance and he understands.

“Mr. Jeon!”

He manages to catch him, outside.

“This is done, right?”

Jungkook is so cold, and he can not actually blame him for that.

“It is. It’s just…”

“She lied to me. She came to me and told me that she’ll attend this s, but where is she now?”

“Here. Take it. She asked me to give this to you after your divorced finalized.”

It’s a letter, and receiving it only makes Jungkook feels more angry. After what he’s been through, why can’t Yeri just showed up and deal with him for one last time, instead of this.

“Do you know where she is?”

“I don’t. Even if I do, there is no way that i’m telling you.”

“Of course.”

He grabs the letter and left Jaein without any further conversation, it’s annoying. He walks to his car and throw his jacket to the back seat.
