Twenty One
The Deck PrincessChapter 21 - Yeontan
As soon as I saw the small fur ball in my bed, wiggling and its front paw, I couldn’t help but scream my lungs out. What the hell is this thing doing here on my bed?!
I quickly jumped out of my bag and looked at the strange creature. It was too small to be called a regular puppy. Maybe a Pomeranian teacup? Aren’t they like super duper small?
I poked the little animal with my hairbrush, it wiggled and poked his tongue out. Its eyes looked up at me innocently.
“Ya..” I poked it again. It barked softly. My heart melted at his little bark. Dropping the hairbrush, I grabbed onto its mushy body and cooed. “Aww...” I lifted the thing up in my hands. “You’re so cute. You sound like a little baby when you bark.” I said, tickling its ears. I turned the puppy around in my hands to see its gender. “Omo, you’re a boy. How did you get in here?” I questioned, shaking his paws gently. The little pup was about the size of a large teacup. His fur coat was in the shades of white and dark brown. Maybe black too.
I put him on the bed and rubbed his forehead tenderly. He snuggled into the feeling, wiggling his tail from side to side like a little child. He barked at me again when I stopped massaging his head. I searched through his fur for any type of collar to see if he's owned or not. To my delight, he wasn’t.
“Where did you come from, little puppy?” I asked him, shaking his body a bit. The little animal just shook its head and snuggled into my hand. I giggled at his antics. Pulling him up, I got into my bed and put him on a spare pillow. “Let’s go to sleep together. We will figure out where you came from in the morning, okay?” As if it understood me, he nodded his head and closed his pearly eyes to dreamland.
I smiled at him. I hope he doesn’t have a owner. I really want to keep him.
*****
That night, I dreamt of a very pretty boy. He had dark blue hair and a killer smile. At first, I was freaked out by the fact that I’m dreaming about such a fine specimen but then I threw that fact out the window and just admired his beauty. There was something about him that pulled me in. His round black eyes were twinkling. I could see the colour in them shifting into all different shades. Black, blue, red, brown and even green. What surprised me the most was the beautiful handmade flower crown sitting on top of his head. It complimented his blue hair so well. He truly looked angelic.
I smiled at him. He smiled back. I saw him open his mouth to say something but right at that moment, something woke me up.
It was the little puppy. He was my nose. I giggled at the tingly feeling.
“Aww, little bub. Why did you wake me up?” I cooed to him. “I was having such a nice dream. I saw a very beautiful boy in it. He looked hot.” I winked at him. The little furball smiled at me in return. His black beady eyes were twinkling just like the boy in the my dream was.
That’s so weird.
Shaking my head, I took a little sneak peek at the time.
7:00 am
Huh... that should be alright. After all, it’s a Saturday.
Stretching my stiff limbs, I quickly dropped a kiss on the little pup beside me and stood up to get ready for the day.
“So, what do you think?” I asked the little puppy sitting on my bed. I held up two pairs of shirts infront of him. “Should I go for the y look?” I asked, pulling a yellow off shoulders top to my body. “Or should I be the sweet, innocent type?” I asked again, changing the top with a simple blue top with squiggly designs on it.
He stared at me stupidly with his tongue dangling. I sighed in defeat. Who am I asking? He’s a dog. Dogs don’t talk. I really need a female friend here. Staying with all these boys has ruined my sense of fashion.
I huffed in annoyance. Turning to the mirror instead, I on my bottom lip as I tried each piece of clothing. Suddnely, I heard a bark. I looked behind me to see my little pup pulling on a Gucci top that was hanging in my cupboard.
“Bub, no!” I exclaimed, scooping the dog up before he could rip apart my expensive Gucci top. “Bad Bub. This is not good manners.” I scolded the boy in my hand. He looked at me in sadness with droopy ears. I pouted. Why is he so cute? “Okay, fine, I won’t scold you.” I said to him. He barked in happiness. His eyes turned to the Gucci top in fascination. “You like it?” He nodded his head. I took the white top out and admired its design. It was simple. It just had a Gucci brand name stamped on it and few flowers here n there.
“Maybe I should wear this today, huh?” I mused. I heard a bark in agreement. I smiled. “You’re a smart boy aren’t you?” I giggled, petting him with my fingers. “You are going to be my Gucci boy from now onwards. Wait here, I think I have the right thing to suit you.”
Putting him back in the bed, I quickly shuffled through my belongings and pulled out a blue ring box. Bringing it closer to my little teacup Pomeranian, I started to explain its importance.
“This is a Gucci necklace that my mum got me earlier. Costed a fortune but for her, it was nothing. I never wore it cause it didn’t feel like me. So, in that case, would you like to have this necklace? Boys can wear it too so don’t worry.” I said, smiling at the puppy. His eyes brightened at the idea and vigorously nodded his head. What a smart boy. He understands me.
I pulled the silver chain out and tucked it around his neck.
“Oh look, you have your own name tag. The Gucci Boy.” I said happily, as I wiggled the dangling necklace in his neck. He barked. “We should name you.” I said, kissing him on the head. “Let’s see... how about Monty?”
He shook his head.
“Gaon?”
Another shake.
“Suk?” Another shake. “Yeon?” The shaking continued.
“Lola?” I teased with a wink. At this, he glared at me. I couldn’t help but laugh at his face.
“Hmmm... What about tan? Yeontan?” I suggested. His head tilted into consideration before a bark was released.
“Yes!” I exclaimed. “Congratulation, tan. You now officially have a name.” I announced, patting him. He grinned at me and barked in approval.
When I went downstairs after freshening up, tan was safely tucked into my coat’s pocket. That little puppy was so little that he fell right through the pocket. Only a few fragments of his head hair could be seen poking out. As if right now, he had his whole head out, using his little paws to hold him upright in the coat’s pocket. I just patted him gently. He’s so precious.
Skipping on the last step, I turned around the corner, only to be greeted by a hilarious sight. Instead of finding an empty living room, I was surprised to see all of my pesky boys draped all over the floor in one huge pile of warm bodies. It honestly looked like a dog pile to me. I had to bite my lips to stop myself from bursting out into loud laughs.
Apparently, their positions were not ordinary. Both of my light and fire duo were hugging onto each other’s feet while my earth warrior was sleeping upside down on the couch with his mouth hanging open. I giggled at his face. I have never seen the boy like this before. Training my eyes on the new warriors, I saw Sehun curled up in a ball, hugging the Xbox with his arms. Meanwhile, Chen was the only one who was sleeping like a normal person. He was draped over the floor with a nice blanket and a fluffy pillow.
I looked at tan who was also eyeing the scene infront of him with his beady eyes. Was he amused? I pulled him out and rubbed his head.
“What do you think tan? Should we wake them up?” I asked the little pup who shook his head as a response. “You’re right. We should let them sleep. I’m sure they stayed up all night playing that video game. Besides, it’s Saturday. Everyone can sleep in.” I agreed with a smile. The little boy gave a quiet playful bark in return. “But then again...” this is where I paused and looked for a marker. Finding a black one, I pulled its lid off and winked at Tan. “It wouldn’t hurt to have a little fun, right?” I smirked.
And with that, I went wild with my imagination and portrayed it on each of the sleeping boy’s faces with great precision. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo became the new cave men of the family while Chen and chanyeol became the love sick puppies. And sehun... oh boy, that little whiny deserves a little on his forehead. It matches with the teddy, right?
“All done.” I announced as tan looked at me in shock. “Let’s go have some food.”
Shaking my head at my warriors, I tip-toed around them to the kitchen. Looking at all the ingredients set out on the table, I decided to keep the food a bit simple. Putting tan down on the kitchen counter, I got him a small bowl of water as I set the breakfast up. Since, it was only me and tan, it didn’t take much time.
“Here tan, have this bacon. It’s juicy and crispy.” I said, putting small pieces of cooked bacon into his small plate. I made sure to sprinkle it with some salt and pepper so he could enjoy the flavour. I smiled when he gobbled the food down like a hungry beast. I continued to give him a bit of everything I had on the table while I ate my own set of eggs and pancakes.
It took me 30 minutes to finish my food and another 30 minutes to stop tan from overeating. I swear that little pup has a diet of a growing boy. It’s weird really. I tried to stop him but he ended up finishing most of the food on the table.
“Wow... tan, how big is your tummy? You are so little but you eat so much.” I said in awe. The little puppy was resting on his back with his paws up in the air. He just showed me his pink tongue in return.
As soon as I was done, I cooked a bit more of the food and packed them into two containers. Wrapping them in a plastic bag, I picked up tan and tucked him in my coat’s pocket again.
“Come on tan. Let’s go catch some bunnies and koalas.”
*****
It turns out finding bunnies and koalas was a hard task. It took me almost two hours before I narrowed down their exact location. The rooftop of the furthest building on the south side of the campus. The whole building stood at quite a distance from all the hustle and bustle of the campus. It was isolated to the point that hardly anyone came around here.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” I whispered to the little puppy beside me who was perched on my shoulder, as we hid around the fake bushes on the roof. I could see both Namjoon and Jungkook talking to each other in whispers. They were sitting over the edge wall. Very dangerous if you ask me.
The puppy beside me was looking at them in awe and excitement. He continuo
