Author's note:

So this is the second to last chapter, we're almost there fam!!!

Again I apologise for the amount of angst from the past few chapters, but we can finally move on from that. Thanks for bearing with me. Also I'm sorry for not replying to comments, I've been really busy lately.

Also, a bit of a warning: This chapter is very dialogue heavy, idk if it would bother you guys, but I didn't see any other way to tell the story but this.

Hope you enjoy :))

Eunbi lay awake in bed. She considered herself lucky that she didn't have to be alone. At least Wonyoung was sleeping soundly beside Eunbi on what used to be Chaeyeon’s side of the bed. There was a certain comfort with having her daughter near her. And it was reassuring to know that as of this moment, Wonyoung was still hers.

As the clock struck 12, Eunbi was still unable to sleep. One would think that all the crying would have tired Eunbi out enough for sleep to overtake her. Clearly, she was mistaken. Apparently drowsiness didn’t get along with overthinking. Which is what Eunbi has been doing for the past few hours.

The singer knew she needs to get her head straight. She can’t just drop everything for Chaeyeon anymore. Not when the custody agreement is on the line. Especially after Hitomi scolded her for leaving court so abruptly right before it started. Apparently the judge wasn’t very pleased with the amount of times that their trial had to be rescheduled and postponed. So the judge had made sure to let Eunbi know by fining her for contempt of court. But even if it was a hefty fine, Eunbi was just glad Hitomi still managed to get a continuance instead of losing the case altogether.

Which is why Eunbi chose to stay put for now. That meant no running off to the airport and getting on the next flight out to see Chaeayeon. She has to patiently wait until Wonyoung’s custody arrangement is settled. For Wonyoung, Eunbi repeats the mantra to herself, looking at her little girl sleeping soundly next to her.

Eunbi figures Wonyoung is probably the only thing keeping her in-check right now. The only person keeping her sane. Especially…especially after reading the letter. Eunbi had so many questions that were left unanswered.

Chaeyeon’s letter was vague at best. It mentioned Sakura. What does her ex-wife have to do with Chaeyeon leaving? The letter also mentioned Chaeyeon keeping Eunbi from having to choose between singing and Wonyoung. What could that mean? And the way Chaeyeon signed off the letter. The teacher had written ‘All my love’. Eunbi couldn’t help but repeat the same word over and over in her head.

Love. Love. Love.

Did she… mean it that way?

Eunbi had tossed and turned all night with the amount of thoughts running in head. It was a wonder how Wonyoung managed to sleep through it. When morning came, it was clear on their faces who had a good night’s rest and who needs to go hibernate.

As the singer drove to the courthouse, she kept stealing glances at her daughter sitting in the back. Eunbi couldn’t help but wonder how the trial will proceed with Wonyoung present in the room. She certainly didn’t want her daughter to come, but Hitomi thinks Wonyoung would be the only edge they have left to beat Sakura. Eunbi doesn’t even know what Hitomi would ask of Wonyoung, though she’s choosing to trust her lawyer and her future sister-in-law that everything is in Wonyoung’s best interest.

When they finally arrived at the courthouse, Eunbi told herself to remain calm. But even with her extreme fatigue, Eunbi manages to still find the energy to be angry the moment she saw her ex-wife. She had a long night to think about what she was going to do. To be exact, Eunbi already decided she would have a word with Sakura. Her sleepless night had given her enough time to contemplate on what she wanted to say. And she was very adamant on saying her piece. That.. and to ask her ex-wife about what transpired with her ex-fiancée.

Eunbi steers Wonyoung inside the courtroom and ushers her to where Hitomi was sitting. “Wonnie can you stay with auntie Hitomi?” Eunbi waits for a nod from her daughter before marching to Sakura’s direction.

The moment Eunbi steps into Sakura’s line of sight, Sakura knows Eunbi means business. The singer didn’t wait for a greeting or even an acknowledgement before pulling Sakura by the wrist to drag her out to the hallway.

“What the hell is this?” Eunbi hands Chaeyeon’s letter to Sakura. “What does Chaeyeon mean by you making sure she left?”

For a moment, Eunbi thought Sakura would lie to her. But her ex-wife seemed to look defeated after reading the letter. Sakura sighs. “I dug up the drug scandal of your former backup singers and dancers. I threatened her to tell the truth to the immigration officer, in exchange for not using it as evidence.”

Eunbi wasn’t sure what she was expecting to hear from Sakura. But it hadn’t been that. And Eunbi never felt so much hatred and disgust in Sakura than right now. Not even when she found out that Sakura had been cheating on her. “How could you?” The singer honestly didn’t think her ex-wife would stoop that low. “I don't understand. We were married once, Sakura. After everything... after our 6 year relationship, did you throw it all out the window the moment we signed the divorce papers?”

“You were the one who wanted to divorce.” Sakura accused.

Eunbi’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Because you cheated on me, Sakura, so don’t you dare blame it on me!” The singer inhales deeply, calming herself. She reminds herself that those problems were behind her, and she has to move forward. “You know what, I’m tired of fighting with you. Let’s just get this over and done with.” Without looking back, Eunbi leaves her ex-wife in the hallway.

“Wonyoung.” Hitomi addresses the small girl who was sitting on the stand. “Can you tell me, do you like spending time with your mama or your mommy more?”

The little girl looks to both of her mothers. “Uhhh.. I like playing with both my mommies.”

“I see.” Hitomi opts to take a different approach. “What do you usually do with your mama, Wonyoung?”

“Mama takes me to the movies and we watch cartoons. And we go to the mall and to the park. We do lots of fun stuff!”

“What about with your momm

Chapter 26: I binge read this, and I'm happy that I read this story. It's has the right amount of angst to make the story amazing and interesting to read. I also find the set-up somehow impossible in real life but it served as a good plot. I love how cute KwonChaeng in the story, the light banter and the fluff it's all cute and at the same time it's heart warming one, it's not the typical story about how they fell in love but with this story it centered on family and I love it for that. I hope to read your other story. Thanks author-nim
