Eunbi has got to give it to her ex-wife; Sakura did warn Eunbi that it would be in her best interest to have kept this out of court. But she had to fight for Wonyoung. No way was she going to give full custody to Sakura. Especially not after Sakura’s negligence resulted in Wonyoung ending up at the hospital. And Eunbi had made sure Sakura knew just how badly she messed up.

There was a lot of yelling. Some of the nurses even had to calm them down. Suffice to say, everyone in the whole floor knew she had been furious at her ex-wife.

Though, Eunbi couldn’t help but notice that Chaeyeon was even angrier than she was. At one point she had even asked the teacher about it.

It was late, Sakura had gone home, and Chaeyeon should have as well. But Eunbi didn’t want to leave Wonyoung’s side... and Chaeyeon didn’t want to leave Eunbi’s side. So, they both had stayed the night at the hospital. Thankfully, the sofa in the hospital room was big enough for the two of them. Albeit, it was a tiny bit snug, not that either of them was bothered by it.

“Are you okay?” Eunbi had asked her fiancee after seeing Chaeyeon space out for the third time that night. “You seem bothered by something.”

“Who? Me?” Eunbi nods, looking at the teacher expectedly. But Chaeyeon only shrugged. “I’m fine.”

“Are you sure?”

Chaeyeon had looked conflicted about something. At this stage of their...relationship, Eunbi could tell when the teacher was bothered by something. Chaeyeon had opened and closed , then ended up being silent altogether. It had concerned Eunbi quite a bit, but when she started to ask, Chaeyeon had already spoke up first. “I just can’t believe Sakura didn’t check the packaging before giving it to Wonnie,” she had said.

Eunbi had, of course, agreed with Chaeyeon, and they moved on.

––––––––––––––––––––––––

The trial was pushed back by two days, and Eunbi didn’t know whether she was relieved or distressed. She decided to just consider herself lucky that it wasn’t pushed back some more, because at this point she was just tired. The idea of a custody battle with Sakura became more and more ridiculous by the day. Eunbi just wanted it to be over, to settle it once and for all. But it’s easier said than done when trying to change Sakura’s mind. She was always the stubborn one.

Even after three months have passed since the first night Sakura sued her for custody, Eunbi still couldn’t believe her ex-wife would actually do this to her. Did three years of marriage and five years of their whole relationship mean nothing to Sakura that she could hurt Eunbi this way? Did the divorce really change that much?

The trust was probably long gone, at least on Eunbi’s part. But the singer always held certain fondness for Sakura, even after everything, she couldn’t hate her ex-wife no matter how hard she tries. And Sakura was still Wonyoung’s mother, they should still have some sort of respect for one another. At least that’s what Eunbi thought, up until a few hours ago.

A few hours ago, Sakura, or at least her lawyer, had absolutely tore Eunbi to shreds. They painted Eunbi in such a bad light that her lawyer, Hitomi, had been speechless. The singer and her lawyer had prepared everything they could for court, but still they weren’t prepared for when Sakura made it a personal vendetta to tarnish Eunbi’s credibility as a mother in the worst way possible.

What’s worse, they weren’t even finished with the custody battle. They still had another follow-up trial the next day. And then by the end of it, the judge will finally rule on their custody arrangements.

Hitomi had told her that they still have a chance, that Eunbi shouldn’t lose hope just yet.

Eunbi couldn’t help but feel that she’s lost her daughter already.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––

It was nearing 11 p.m. and Eunbi still wasn’t home.

It was 3 hours after Wonyoung’s bedtime and Eunbi should have been home long before that. Not only did she miss dinner, she also missed Wonyoung’s bedtime routine, which was a rarity. This was what concerned Chaeyeon the most.

The teacher waited exactly half an hour after 8 p.m. for Eunbi before she decided that she has to put Wonyoung to bed by herself. With reluctance of taking over Eunbi’s routine with her daughter, Chaeyeon manages to do so without any problems. There were some questions from Wonyoung, but Chaeyeon thinks she’s managed to dodge it successfully without throwing Eunbi under the bus.

Chaeyeon had thought that maybe by the time Wonyoung was asleep, Eunbi would be back. But here she was, still waiting around in the living room while staring at her phone. None of her texts had been opened, and all her calls went to voicemail.

Where the hell is Eunbi?

By the time the clock struck 12, Chaeyeon couldn’t handle it anymore. She can’t just wait around and do nothing. Some part of her thought to call the police–But no, that would’ve been too dramatic, wouldn’t it? So she resorted to the next best thing… Chaewon.

“Chaewon speaking,” a groggy voice said. “You better have a good reason to call at this hour, or I’ll—”

“—Eunbi is missing!” Chaeyeon cuts her off.

The teacher could hear the ruffling of sheets and sleepy murmuring, likely from Hitomi, before Chaewon speaks again. “Wait… what do you mean Eunbi is missing?”

“She had court today. And she was supposed to be back by 4 p.m. but.. It’s 12 now… and she didn’t answer any of my texts or calls. Chaewon, she missed Wonyoung’s bedtime.”

Chaeyeon was met with silence on the other end. The teacher had to look at her phone to see if the call was still connected. It was.

“Chaewon? Hello?”

“I’m here." Chaewon says. “I think I know where she might go. There’s this place

Chapter 26: I binge read this, and I'm happy that I read this story. It's has the right amount of angst to make the story amazing and interesting to read. I also find the set-up somehow impossible in real life but it served as a good plot. I love how cute KwonChaeng in the story, the light banter and the fluff it's all cute and at the same time it's heart warming one, it's not the typical story about how they fell in love but with this story it centered on family and I love it for that. I hope to read your other story. Thanks author-nim
