Chapter 11

The Possession

Taehyung had it made it downstairs with the others as Jimin called the priest and Jin and Namjoon argued.

He’d never seen them fight like this before. He’d never really seen anyone in the house argue. He assumed it would have happened sooner or later. No one got along perfectly all the time.

Not even spirits in the basement.

“You’re making everyone crazy!” Namjoon exclaimed.

“No, I’m not.” Jin stomped his foot and Taehyung held back a snicker at how cute the action looked. “You’re trying to make everyone stay in denial!”

“How?” Namjoon’s fists were clenched. “By saying that I think ghosts are made up and stupid?”

“Think what you want, but this is what’s going on.” Jin seethed. “There were women murdered in this house by a cult to appease a demon and now those spirits are causing all this.”

Hoseok and Yoongi, who had not yet heard the story, looked shocked to hear about the house’s horrible history. Namjoon on the other hand, shook his head.

“You’re not who I thought you were, hyung.” Namjoon looked almost sad, and Taehyung wondered what else was behind the gaze. “I thought you were a rational, reasonable person.”

Jin glared, not backing down. “And I thought you were more open-minded and willing to trust my judgement.” Jin pointed at his chest. “Trust in me!”

Namjoon shook his head and turned his back, walking to the kitchen.

“Hyung, the church isn’t answering.” Jimin spoke up.

“I’m out.” Namjoon announced, coming back. “I'm not going to follow along with this nonsense.”

“Namjoon, you're the one who is full of nonsense. Open your eyes!” Jin snapped. He then softened.“I need you to help me.”

Namjoon meet his eyes and shook his head. “You're acting crazy, I don't know how I can stay.”

Taehyung saw Jin's gaze harden and his mouth turn into a firm line.

“Go then.” Jin said. “Do whatever the you want! I don't care!”

Taehyung watched as Namjoon left in anger, slamming the door behind him.

He then looked at Jin, who glared at the door in frustration and hurt, before turning to Jimin.

“Try another church.”

Jimin nodded and began looking up more numbers. Taehyung watched Jin pace back and forth and his curiosity spiked. What exactly had they been fighting over? He knew it wasn’t simply ghosts, was it their romance as well?

Taehyung giggled to himself. How dramatic! Namjoon stormed off to drive wildly and think about life , and then if he had watched enough dramas, Namjoon would crash his car and get amnesia causing him to forget everything.

Then he’ll think he’s in love with some ex-girlfriend and Jin will have to fight to stay by his side and get him to remember. Taehyung thought. Ooh, he couldn’t wait to see it go down!

He was taken out of his thoughts as he heard Jimin tell Jin he had scheduled a priest for two days from now. He saw Jin sigh, a deep frown on his face.

“What about the landlady?” Yoongi said as he sat beside Hoseok in the dining table. “Shouldn’t we call and tell her?”

“We should sue her.” Jimin said. “For renting us a damn evil house!”

“We don’t even know her real name.” Jin sighed again and slumped down in a chair. He lit a nearby candle, the warm fire illuminating the room with a warm glow.

“Isn’t it Choi?” Yoongi raised an eyebrow. “Mrs...Choi?"

Jin shrugged, looking defeated.

“Doesn’t she have a number?” Jimin asked.

Taehyung pulled out his phone and looked through his contacts. “I have it!” He showed them the number, along with the photo of the portrait he had taken of her earlier.

“Crazy Long Red Nails Lady.” Jimin read aloud with a smile.

Yoongi snorted and even Hoseok managed a small laugh.

Taehyung called her, but shook his head to them when it went straight to voicemail.

Hoseok huffed in annoyance. “So the Choi lady won't pick up, the priest isn't coming for two days, Namjoon is gone, probably going to crash and get amnesia or something--” Taehyung’s head perked up. So Hoseokie hyung had the drama trope in his mind too! “--and we’re probably going to be killed by this house. Sounds great.”

Everyone turned to look at him in surprise. Hoseok had always been the optimistic one in the house, to see him crumble into pessimism was new. Even Yoongi gave a double take, his eyes comically wide.

Jin stood up and shook his head. “Enough of this. We’ll bless the house ourselves if we have too. Jimin go grab my holy water.”

“I'll do it.” Hoseok stood up, determination in his eyes. Taehyung looked at him amazed, he realized he wasn't the only one, Yoongi stared at him too but with something else in his eyes. Admiration? Lust? Maybe both.

Probably both.

“Uh okay.” Jin said as if unsure how to order the boy around. He had probably grown used to ordering Taehyung and Jimin around so much, Taehyung figured. “It's in the closet behind the towels.”

Hoseok nodded and left up the stairs. Jin turned back to Taehyung. “Go grab the Bible in the living room and Jimin open some windows to let in light.”

“I'll go look at the fuse box.” Yoongi spoke up.

“But hyung that's in the basement.” Jimin said looking scared for Yoongi. He then glanced at Taehyung apologetically.

He shook his head. He wasn't about to get jealous over Jimin worrying for anyone's safety, the basement wasn't the best place to be at the moment.

The spirits had quieted since they regrouped in the dining room and Taehyung could only hear soft whispers drift from the basement door. They were warnings.

It wasn't them who was doing this. They said.

Something was here.

Something dark. They said.

Chapter 22: Even though it wasn't a story that mainly focused on yoonseok, which is the tag I used to find this story, it was really good. I really loved how I could visualize everything you were describing in the story perfectly. Which I really appreciate because not many story's I've read focus on giving us a good visual so thank you. Job well done, I look forward to reading the sequel. ??
