I guess I probably should have known that this was coming. That we’d have to put our acting to the real test one day to keep our secret but to think that it would be like this… I still remember our conversation clear in my mind and from what he said the first person that I’m going to see on an early school morning like this is…

“Hayun!” …Jiyong.

“Wow, Ji aren’t you a bit early for school today?” I say with a fake smile trying to forget that he tried to make a move on me yesterday.

“You know it’s rude to just leave a guy when he was only being a nice person and trying to walk his classmate home, worse than that to stomp his foot and even worse than that not even apologize but pretend that nothing even happened”

Well you know it’s practically harassment to suddenly make a move on a girl when she’s obviously not interested. But of course I can’t say that out loud “Sorry I just I was a bit shocked, I’m not exactly a touchy person you know” I managed to make up an excuse.

“Not a touchy person. That might be a problem” I heard him mumble “Anyway that’s not the main reason that I’m here” he showed me his hands which held a bouquet of roses.

“Oh, roses?”

“A beautiful woman like yourself deserves a bouquet of roses, every day” he said with a proud smile thinking that might’ve worked.

“How cliché” I frowned.

“What?” he asked dumbfounded.

“It’s just so cliché, a bouquet of roses. A flower that’s been so overused that it’s lost its meaning”

“Any girl would be over the moon to get flowers from a guy like me” he was confused.

“Well, that’s too bad” I push the flowers towards him “seeing how I’m not just any cheap girl that’s won over with meaningless flowers” I walked away, man I bet Seunghyun would grin proudly if he saw that.

Narrator’s POV

Jiyong stood there frozen for a while even after she was out of sight and this was long enough for Seunghyun to come to school to find him staring into the distance with a bouquet of roses. Seunghyun smiled to himself I can only imagine what she must have done to freeze him like this.

“Hey” he said with the snap of a finger to get Jiyong out of his trance.

Jiyong blinked a few times before closing his eyes and sighing “I take it the morning after approach didn’t go so well?” he asked to which Jiyong shook his head.

“Seunghyun, I’m starting to think that she’s not playing hard to get but maybe she is hard to get”

“What happened?” he was genuinely curious.

“First she doesn’t even apologize for yesterday, second she doesn’t like being touched, and third she thinks that I think that she’s cheap enough to be bought with flowers” Jiyong argued.
