“Are you serious about this?” The question has been asked for how many times Hanbin assumed…. Ah, probably 100th and more will come for sure. “Hyung, I’ve told you….” He utters while grooming himself up on the small mirror provided in the bathroom. Internally groaning looking at how less fashionable the white-blue strap hospital gown on him. As Hanbin steps outside to where Jinhwan is standing in the creamy-wall colored room with the window facing the evening view of Seoul, he waltzes his way to take his seat on the bed; which is just a few feet away from the said window. “I’m dead serious.” “But, this is really—” And the worried Jinhwan is cut off by the leader effortlessly. “I know. But this is the only solution I can come up with. I can’t back away anymore.” From Hanbin’s face, the older can see that his dongsaeng is being really serious on what he is doing right now. There is nothing that could change his mind and his gravely-made decision despite whatever persuasion Jinhwan gives to him. “I won’t either.” Added Hanbin as he flicks his thumb across the screen of his phone for maybe the last time for the next few hours that would come. On that, Jinhwan refuses to think. But that is exactly what’s leading to the conversation they are having at the moment. Taking a seat on the chair next to the bed, Jinhwan reaches over towards the leader’s knee, patting it softly and desperately to make Hanbin obliges to his demand. “Hanbin please, I beg you.” He starts off in a whisper, voice strained and soft, like he’s talking to a 7-years-old who has just volunteered for a war. “There must be another way to save Chanwoo. We can just wait for his name to be called for a don—” “No.” “Wha—” To say that Jinhwan is surprised, no. He is flabbergasted. Not because he has just been cut off for the second time, but because of the affirmation in Hanbin’s voice. The power and firmness in it scares him out; it makes him scared about the younger’s future, shaking his spine as he believes that Hanbin has just made a wrong decision. One that he breaks through to Jinhwan and Yang Hyun Suk 3 days ago. “We can’t wait any longer, hyung. We can’t risk Chanwoo’s life anymore. Who knows how long the kidney donor will arrive? A week? A month? Years? I can’t wait for that. He can’t wait that long.” “I know that! But for you to give your kidney to him….” Jinhwan trails off, unable to continue when the sudden struck of fear drowns on him. “I—It’s too risky… for you.” “Then what about Chanwoo, hyung?! Will you just let him die?!” Raising his voice Hanbin makes Jinhwan stumbles back, but that didn’t steep Jinhwan down at all. “Are you crazy?! What do you think am I?! I want him to stay alive too!” Jinhwan’s high pitched voice beats up Hanbin’s as the leader strings up his mouth shut at the mad hyung of his. But it’s not just the scream that stops him. It’s the unshed tears pooling inside Jinhwan’s eyes. The sad and angry look he is giving Hanbin is literally shredding the younger up in pieces. “But not for you to go down too. Please Hanbin, please.” Jinhwan begs him. “Don’t do this. To me, to the members, to your parents, to you.” And finally the tears fall down, like the fountain in the garden gracefully falls down in the midst of summer. Watching this breaks Hanbin’s heart but he can’t back down now. He is determined enough not to break to any of the members’ plead. Not even to Jinhwan’s. “I have to.” Whisper that only both of them can hear Hanbin said. Eyes glossy with thousand emotions but one mission. “Because I want him to stay.” Jinhwan has more to say but it’s time for Hanbin to leave. Lying on the bed Jinhwan watches with turmoil of emotions the nurses preparing Hanbin up for the surgery. When they stroll the leader out to the hall Jinhwan has the younger’s hand in his, holding tightly as if he wants to pull Hanbin up from the bed and bring him back home. Yet he couldn’t when the image of Hanbin’s face and the resonance of his words few minutes ago bring him on frenzy. He lets go of the hand catching Hanbin ‘see you later hyung’ before he is brought into the theatre room with Chanwoo probably already inside. It is time for the surgery after all. Jinhwan’s eyes trail along towards the white sheet bed where the leader is lying on until it is gone behind the sliding door. He gives out a long and tired sigh, shutting his eyes shut making all the pooled up tears to cascade down his smooth cheeks. A few agonizing seconds passed by and just when Jinhwan turns around to walk away, in the midway through the turn he caught Junhoe. The boy is standing on the left side of the hallway, face paler and eyes set grim on Jinhwan with shock painted deeply in his brown orbs. Jinhwan’s eyes turn wider. No, he mentally voic
