Actually, I’m a little scared,
I’m sorry The day doesn’t go well like the others. Yet, it hasn’t fall to the day where the pain is unbearable. The time when she can’t feel with her hands, can’t see the faces of the doctors coming into her room for every checkup, not able to differentiate hot and cold till she got herself burnt, nor hearing any sounds audible to other people. Seunghee is grateful today is an exception for her to face the hell. She gets down from bed slowly, although the symptoms are slowly diminishing, her body still feels worn out. Probably because of the drugs. She carefully makes her way towards the window. Her eyes glaze outside. The weather is good today, and there’s less of people outside the mini garden. Her smile wavers a little, she wonders after yesterday she is allowed to go out. The sound of open door startled her out from the reverie. She turns around and there at the entrance is Chanwoo. His face is red, chest heaving up and down fast along with his erratic breath. He looks as if he has been doing marathon and that fluster Seunghee. “Chanwoo? What is it?” She asks, clearly baffled by his presence here. The said boy enters the room. He stands before Seunghee by the window. Only by that close distance does Seunghee notices the bullet sweats running down Chanwoo’s face. She furrows her brows, much confused. “I heard that you fainted yesterday. Seunghee-ah, what happened?!” Chanwoo utters, worries evident in his voice, urgency flashes on face like crystal clear. His eyes gleam wanting answers which is good news. Somehow, his entire expression and action knock on Seunghee’s heart. She feels touched. Heart racing in miles. She smiles softly as she takes both Chanwoo’s hands in her small ones. The differences in size shown but none of that matters to them. Chanwoo still has his eyes on her. Staring intently waiting for answers. “I’m okay.” She said. “It’s normal to have them; the pain. They remind me of how precious life is.” Seunghee’s words have Chanwoo lets out a smile of his own. He overtakes the girl’s hands and clenches them tightly in his own, his thumb softly and affectionately rubbing the silk-like skin. Chanwoo’s eyes gaze upon the girl’s face, his smile portrays his true feelings. They stay that way for long as they can remember, as time seems unmoving in that moment. Seunghee’s heart does race that time, though yes it does hurt a little. Don’t ask me anything
I can’t give you an answer
We’re so happy as we are right now “Can you feel my hand?” Chanwoo asks as he rubs slowly on Seunghee’s palm. The young girl sitting on bed only can smile. She pulls back her hand and playfully hits on the boy’s head. Chanwoo yelps in pain, he holds onto his head with dumbfounded look on his face. His expression erupts laughter from Seunghee. “Why would you hit me for?” “Sorry, I can’t help it.” She says between laughter. “You’re just too cute.” No, Seunghee. That’s too dangerous. Chanwoo joins her laughter as he pretends to pinch the girl’s left arm. Seunghee releases another fit of giggles as she hits Chanwoo more. When they stop, the smile on Chanwoo’s face is wiped out. He looks down towards the floor with slouch shoulders. Seunghee takes notice of this. “What’s wrong?” “No, it’s just….” He trails off. Not knowing how to put the words together. Biting his lips, Chanwoo has both hands in fist. Helplessness creeping in self. “I don’t know how am I going to feel when you’re hurting again.” He has said. “A—Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Chanwoo lifts his head up when he asks that question. Eyes searching for Seunghee’s. the intensity of his stare almost makes the girl baffled though the hinted red on her cheeks couldn’t be missed. “Of course I’m okay! I’m healthy enough you know and I’ll be living my life long.” She lies. ”Then we can go out somewhere. You have promised to take me to YG building right? I can’t wait for it!” She triumphantly says them even expressing herself with hands up in air in excitement. Just by watching her makes Chanwoo’s heart at ease. He smiles genuinely. Don’t smile at me
If I get attached to you, I’ll get sad He doesn’t hesitate; at least no more to take Seunghee’s hands once again and plants subtle kiss on her hand. It surprised Seunghee greatly, though she can’t fight back. Her heart beats furiously again. “I know you will.” Chanwoo says, one of his hand unclasped from Seunghee’s as he takes a few strands of her hair then tucks it at the back of her ear. “It’s not just YG building. I’ll take you anywhere.” He continues. “I’ll take you wherever you want.” It comes again; the suffocation. She feels like crying. Out of happiness, out of sadness; both. She understands the harsh beating of her heart is but at the same time she also understands the pain it comes with. This is dangerous. She has thought. I’m too close with the sun. Repetition of broken hearts
I can’t find a purpose
in these foolish feelings Seunghee sleeps soundly in her bed. Chanwoo stays with her until she falls asleep; that is the cycle for days and weeks he has been there. He will leave right after he has make sure Seunghee is fast asleep. He tucks on her by fixing the blanket over her frail body.
