Second Chances“A penny for your thoughts?” asked Sungjoon as he sat down beside me on the bench with two cups of coffee in his hands.
After picking up the twins, I dropped them off to Yuri and headed to the beach to do some thinking.
I took a cup of coffee and took a sip before replying to his question.
“Why are you always here even though I don’t have your number?” I asked.
He laughed as he placed his cup of coffee on the space beside him.
“I guess we just do our thinking at the same time. Hey, at least I actually help you feel better.”
I smiled and nodded my head in agreement. He’s right, in a way he’s become such a close friend to me since he always shows up when I’m thinking about my problems.
“You’re not wrong.”
He chuckled and nudged my shoulder.
“So, what is it today?” he asked.
I sighed and faced him.
“Have you ever loved? Not stupid love but real love, one where you never want to let go of the person you fell for.” I told him.
“I did. I was in love with someone and I thought she loved me too but she left me. She didn’t give me any reason, she just ended everything in one day and she left.”
I was surprised, I’ve spoken to him for so many times and I just had the chance to know his true problems.
“Is this recent?”
He nodded his head and squinted his eyes towards the horizon.
“Just a few months ago.”
“The time you started coming here.”
He looked at me with agreement and I drank more coffee.
“You didn’t come here because of work, you came here because you were looking for her.”
“You know my secret. See, you’re not the only one hurting out here. Some of us like to keep our problems quiet because we know that someone else is in great need of our empathy.”
I felt so happy with what he just said and i pulled him into a hug.
“Thank you Sung Joon-ssi. I really appreciate the your presence here with me.”
“You should really pull away if you don’t want me to fall for you.”
