Chapter 12
King's bodyguardYou must be thinking what happened to me. Well, since not many of you follow me on twitter, I told couple weeks ago that I will take a break from writing because of school. I need to write a 15-page essay so I don't have time for fanfiction. But since I finally got a perfect idea for this chapter (which I started over a month ago, pardon me for delaying it!), I decided to write it today -> I came back to Finland to spend christmas with my family and since I was too tired to actually write my essay, I decided to update. :)
ENJOY!
Chapter 12:
Eric marched into the bodyguards’ room and made all of them look at him only. Junjin was in the middle of putting on clothes, while Minwoo had just come out of the shower. The other bodyguards had relaxed on their beds, while some were watching after his majesty. Eric glared at Junjin, who paid no attention to the man, and said, “His majesty needs several bodyguards for tomorrow’s ceremony. He has made a list and I’ll just read it through.”
Junjin was putting on his boots while the others were listening. Minwoo was still , his hands on the hips, when Eric read the list through. “Lee Junki, Park Seojun, Lee Minwoo, Lee Dongwook and Jang Woohyuk.” Junjin raised his head once his name was not mentioned – he had been certain he would be there no matter what. “You will start your day as soon as his majesty has woken up. Fighting,” the assistant bowed.
Minwoo returned to his bed and started getting dressed. “This time Junjin doesn’t get to shine in front of the king.” Seojun teased the guy.
“He is the king’s pet. He would shine no matter what.” Junki muttered. “He could kill someone and the king would look at it through his fingers.” he continued.
“Enough,” Minwoo butted in. “Junjin is on the king’s side most often because he is good at what he does.” he defended the younger man. “Now the king chose you, because he wants you to have a chance.” Junjin knew Minwoo was wrong, but he appreciated his effort to make him look good. “Be happy about that,” he scolded the two guys.
Seojun and Junki apologised to Junjin quickly before Junjin walked off. Minwoo followed the tall man once he was fully dressed. “Hey, why didn’t his majesty choose you? This was the third time this week.” they advanced the kitchen where the lunch was waiting.
Junjin shrugged as if he didn’t know the answer; the betrayed and hurt look on Andy’s face haunted him every single night. The memory of Junjin trying to convince that nothing had happened - he had just leaned in because his body had wanted to – kept repeating in his eyes and he couldn’t switch it off. Andy had power and he could have sentenced him to death if he had wanted to – which he probably didn’t.
“He finally realised we both have potential to—“ Minwoo silenced himself when the man himself approached to them.
Junjin squeezed his lips together and looked down at his feet. The king’s arm was laced with the queen, and she had a flower in her hair. The king had picked it himself. Andy did not even glance at Junjin, as he greeted Minwoo, and waited for a deep bow from the two bodyguards. “Where is your highness heading?” Minwoo interrogated.
“To a theatre.” The king responded. “It’s the opening night.”
Junjin examined the short man from head to toe. He admired the looks of his king, but hated that he couldn’t say it out loud. Andy had a beautifully custom made jacket and pants that were so tight they made Junjin almost drool. The hair was styled in a way that flattered both the face and the hair. It was wavy. In his left hand, he had three rings, one of them a present from the future queen.
“Enjoy your night, your majesty,” Minwoo bowed deeply.
“I will.” The king replied nodding with his head. “You too.” he told to Minwoo.
Junjin’s heart was bursting and he wanted to scream, but he endured the moment like an adult and remained silent. “I’m starving,” Junjin said and walked past the crowd of people. Minwoo promptly followed Junjin.
“We should go,” Misun murmured.
“Yes, my love.” Andy agreed.
“Dude, I’m sorry,” Minwoo apologised to Junjin.
“For what?” Junjin asked even though he knew what Minwoo referred to.
“About the king, you know…” Minwoo sounded thoroughly sorry for it.
Junjin scoffed loudly and wrapped his arm around the main bodyguard. He rubbed his knuckles to the crown of the head and cackled while Minwoo was in serious pain. “Don’t be sorry about it. Even if he isn’t fond of me now, he will change his mind.” Junjin claimed though he was not certain about it.
“But you really seemed to connect with his majesty.” Minwoo pouted adorably.
For a main bodyguard, Minwoo was a total opposite from his usual side. Maybe because him and Junjin had known each other for years, he showed his true self only with him. Minwoo was very manly, muscles decorating his body from shoulders to ankles. Sometimes Junjin was very jealous of his friend.
“Hey, it’s the past.” Junjin stated.
